Post gallbladder surgery question

Posted: Mar 24, 2010

Hi Fellow MTs:   I was wondering if anyone that has had their GB out has had any pain with the trocar sites that bothered them.  I am 1 month out from GB surgery and it seems as though I have more pain in one of these sites than the others.   It is a slight throbbing type pain and I have good days and bad days with some nausea, but not a lot.   Luckily I have Phenergan for nausea.    I know that some people have GB symptoms after surgery but it was to the point that I had to have it out regardless.  Thanks for any recommendations.   I think sitting here typing 8-10 hours a day is the real culprit too as I do feel better when I am standing up, but I have to work for pay bills and buy food.  There are definitely pros and cons to this surgery.    Thanks to all,  Pauline.

Are you doing any lifting? - HelloKitty

[ In Reply To ..]
I had mine done about 10 years ago, but I remember one of the main activities I was warned against was any lifting/dragging activity as that could lead to pull and complications.

The only thing my surgeon was really concerned about was anything pulling/stretching/dragging in nature. Because I had a manual transmission on my car, he even instructed me not to drive as the simple act of shifting could lead to complications.

I wish I could be more helpful, but it's been so long I don't remember much about it; it was pretty simple and painless, so I've kind of forgotten the details.

Hope you feel better!

I still have pain like I did before. I talked to my dr and he told me that I might have a clogged duct. Okay, then why go through all of the trouble of getting it out. It seems to occur most when eating spicy or fatty food. He told me to give it sometime, and if it continues then we will proceed with an ultrasound. The pain seems to go away, but it is not as severe as it was. I remember being extremely sore after my surgery. Good luck. I hope this helps.

My Second Job And Gallbladder RemovalSep 10, 2010
Finally after several interviews I had someone take a shot and hire me for a second job!  I was thrilled about this until I found out that the training for this job is the same day as my gallbladder removal.  Now if all goes well I should be home at 1 pm and my training starts at 5:30 pm.  The good thing is that my sister is going through the same training.  So I was thinking since the first few days of training is basically just sitting on my butt I can have my sister take m ...

Nausea After Gallbladder RemovalJun 28, 2011
I had my gallbladder removed a week ago because of gallstones.  Now I have nausea daily almost all day long.  My doc gave me antinausea medication to help with this, but it makes me very sleepy, which in turn makes working difficult.  Does anyone else have this problem or know someone who does?  I would really appreciate some advice from anyone who can help me rid myself of nausea and not be sleeping all the time from medications.  Does this wear off with time?  I h ...

Need Some Advice On How To Treat A Gallbladder Attack.Oct 29, 2014
I am in the midst of an extremely bad gallbladder attack.  I've been dealing with my gallbladder for sometime now.  I had a PIPIDA done a year ago and my gallbladder EF is 13%.  I know I need to have it taken out, but I cannot afford to do it.  I have really crappy insurance with a high deductible and I just can't take the time off from work.  Usually, I get the RUQ ache that wraps around my back.  It hurts, but I deal with it, like I deal with menstrual c ...

I am on a job search (or was until last night). I had been trying for FT, PT, whatever comes along for the time being until I can find something stable outside the home. I received two invitations today to schedule interviews for FT positions. Now I need to know how to politely decline these so I'm not burning any bridges in case I end up needing them again. Now the reason I need to decline and my question. Last night I found out that I will be moving my grandmother into my home to take ca ...

Has Anyone Here Had Bariatric Surgery?Dec 10, 2009
I am just trying to get as much info as possible.  Looks right now like it will be a RNY in India (insurance does not cover it, cost including air fair and all medical costs around $8,000 compared to 25-30,000 in the USA.)  Has anyone here gone through it and how was the process?  Was it open or lap?  What was the recovery time?  How have you adapted to the dietary changes afterwards?   ...

Surgery/WorkMay 30, 2012
I am having upcoming surgery and do not want to use what little bit of sick time I have (because then I'm in a pickle if I get the flu or something).  I inquired if I could use a few vacation days and then have a few off unpaid if needed (because I often use vacation days for necessary things rather than something pleasant).  I was told I could either go the FMLA route and will have to eat up any sick time I have or have to use all vacation time, which will wipe mine out. Do most ...

Surgery For De Quervain's Dec 31, 2012

I decided to contact one of the managers where I had my cataract surgery about 4 weeks ago now as striving to see what other options might be open for me. Needless to say I do not have any desire to return to the original surgeon, not that he failed but with his flaring up about a perfectly innocent comment from me, will not trust him in going forward with any tweeking that might need to be done. I have an appointment to see the manager on Monday. I like to speak face to face with a person, not ...

Stressing About Surgery, Not For The UsualAug 07, 2013
So I went to the orthopedist in May, had xray of my shoulder. At that time it was popping quite a bit and hurting (hurting that is until I got to the office, but you know how that is). Bottom line, xray done, doctor studied for a minute (could see his scanning as he was directly outside the room pondering the radiograph). He said you can just watch and if it should become more painful then surgery. Ok so it got worse over these few months. Am trying to sit operation up, getting okay from PCP (to ...

Question About "post Neutering" A Cat And AcceptanceOct 29, 2011
We took our male kitty in to be neutered.  Before he went in he was a "mammas boy".  Mom loved him, cleaned him, played with him and he still was nursing.  He has 4 sisters.  He went in a couple days ago, neutered, rabies shot, vaccine, etc (which we hated to do, but thought it would be best for him).  He came home that night and it was like watching the movie "The Thing".  All his sisters and mom hissed at him.  2 were afraid and would not go near him.  W ...

After Reading The Jesus Is Coming Post And Then Hare Krishna Mantra Post...Apr 21, 2010
I was wondering exactly what kind of "faith" board this is. The poster, Catherine, in the Jesus is Coming thread felt this was the "wrong forum" for posting one's religious beliefs while another posterior in that thread says that this "faith" board is meant to be all inclusive meaning persons of all faiths can post their beliefs here. I guess I wrongly assumed that the use of the word "faith" meant Christianity as it is my belief that Christianity is the only valid belief system worshiping ...
