After reading the Jesus Is Coming post and then Hare Krishna mantra post...

Posted: Apr 21, 2010

I was wondering exactly what kind of "faith" board this is. The poster, Catherine, in the Jesus is Coming thread felt this was the "wrong forum" for posting one's religious beliefs while another posterior in that thread says that this "faith" board is meant to be all inclusive meaning persons of all faiths can post their beliefs here.

I guess I wrongly assumed that the use of the word "faith" meant Christianity as it is my belief that Christianity is the only valid belief system worshiping the one and only true God. I happen to agree with the Jesus is Coming poster in that we are living in the end times; we are living in those days that lead up to the Tribulation.

I guess in these politically correct times, the administrators of websites such as this with boards specifically dedicated to "faith" feel compelled to include all religions and faiths. It may be politically incorrect in this world to say there is but one true path to God and that path is by way of Jesus Christ, but the opinions of this world do not matter to me. I would like to offer a word of encouragment to the poster of Jesus is Coming and to all my brothers and sisters in Christ. We are commissioned by Jesus to spread the truth. We are told by the apostle Paul that we will be speaking the truth to a world deceived, a world ready to believe in anything but the truth. The path of truth is not the easy path, but the rewards are great. We will be persecuted, but we must remember to rejoice in that persecution.

2 Corinthians 12:10

That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Yes! Jesus is coming and soon and God bless you for posting it. On the day of judgment, I hope to stand shoulder to shoulder with you!

 2 Timothy 4:7-8

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

Elitism? - Not a Christian

[ In Reply To ..]
Faith does not "belong" to one belief system any more than another.

Personally, I ran from Christianity when it started becoming synonymous with elitism, putting others down for not believing the same thing, and oftentimes bordering on ignorance.

This may not apply to you, except you DID state that faith meant Christian, which is just absurd.

I don't believe in Jesus other than as a man who once lived and spread kindness and love and now he's dead. But if he DOES make a return, I personally think he'd be appalled to see how his belief system has been bastardized.

I do not have hate in my heart, but pity for those who are deceived. - BornAgainMT
[ In Reply To ..]
You are right that I am angry, but it is a righteous anger. When a person posts their beliefs on the "faith" board and they happen to be Christian beliefs, they told this isn't the correct forum for "spouting" their beliefs. Even worse, "fellow Christians" say "I agree somewhat..."

I'm angry that Christian values are ridiculed and called naive. I'm angry that the political shift to the left has gone as far as to tell Christians to shut up. Calling us angry because we do not have the "power" we once had. You fail to realize that it is not about power for Chritians, it's about morality, it is about the fate of this world, and the fate of the souls around us. We get angry when we see people willfully deceived. We get angry when we witness the deception.

It doesn't matter whether you like me or not. God's word will not change and I will proclaim His truth and truth will find the hearts of those ready to listen.
I feel pity for you for being deceived to the degree - that you are.

Pardon me, but wasn't your first post saying - exactly that?

"My way or the highway," in so many words? Your religion is the only way? Talk about offending Jesus. What is the difference? Both are "expressing one's beliefs," as you put it, no?

Contrary to your sorry post, Jesus did not die for "His way or the highway".

According to christian dotrine, He died for our sins.

Thus arises my suggestion to have some respect and not throw the name of Christ around like it is your personal battering ram.

Your take on Christian doctrine is both alarming and judgmental.

Love thy neighbor. If you can't do that, you need to take a giant step back and do some soul searching.
Respect and love.... - nnn
[ In Reply To ..]
are wonderful things that we need to show and have for each other but the fact remains, there is going to be no respect from Christ for sinners who refuse to repent. Read Revelations in your Bible if you don't like to hear it from Christians. God is love but He will have the final say and not all of us are going to be saved if we refuse to do as He asks. It's a Christian's duty to spread the word so that as many as possible will be saved. So many seem to think that, because God is love, He will turn a blind eye to their refusal to repent and save them anyway. That's not how it's going to work and a Christian is supposed to be passionate about that duty, not lukewarm. Some Christians come across a little strong but there's nothing wrong with that. Hell is going to be harsh so apparently God means business tendered with some love. ;)

Jesus died for our sins.

Jesus did not die for "his way or the highway".
"His way" refers to Jesus as the only way to God. - BornAgainMT
[ In Reply To ..]
In other words, believing that Jesus is the Son of God sent to die for our sins so that we are redeemed in the eyes of the Lord is the ONLY way to achieving a relationship with God.

Jesus Himself said:

Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know[b] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." John 15:5-7

Jesus is the way, the only way. If you don't accept His way, then you will not ever know the Father and He will not know you. Simplified - It is Jesus' way or the highway. -- Get it?

That is what I meant. You may not like how I simplified it, but when in Rome...

Many will be deceived, even the very elect. Right will be wrong and wrong will be right. We see that now as evidenced with homosexuality. We are told not to be "lukewarm" and so many that profess to be Christian don't even come close to being lukewarm. They are as cold as they can get when it comes to spreading the true message. Even our president has no belief in the true God. At least Bush proclaimed himself to be a believer in Jesus Christ, whether he actually was or not. When we stand up for the truth we are expected to get knocked down for it but our reward will be great. Keep the faith. I know it's not easy in these end times. :)

If you believe that this country is no longer a "Christian" country and all religions should be respected which was exactly what our president said, then you have to believe in the concept of many God's and not one true God. Judging him has absolutely nothing to do with my statement. I was stating a mere fact. You can have "faith" without being a Christian. An atheist can have faith.

Christians get a bad rap for 3 reasons.

1. It is prophecied. Christians will be persecuted.

2. Christians speak the truth of the Bible and those who choose to justify their sins and/or disbelief do not want to hear that they are wrong, even if according to the Bible, God's word.

3. Christians are viewed by the world as "people who think they are perfect and do no wrong." This couldn't be further from the truth, but it is still how Christians are perceived.

The last two reasons are the reason for the first.

Seems to me that for the past 1800 years or so it has been the Xians - doing the persecuting. NM

I don't know you but you still appear very naive, or at least very uninformed and I stand by that. Read Revelations. There will be those who will not be saved, those who refuse to repent or believe. that there are many "faiths," i.e., religions; however, the majority of these "faiths" all believe in the one true God. The differences are in how the Bible is interpreted by each religion. Some of it may be difficult to understand but there are those parts that a 5-year old could understand and should be understood by all. It is the denial of those parts that causes strong debate. ;)

to bridge the gap created by mankind's sin that separates us all from a personal relationship with The Father. He has loving given us this gift and we only need to accept it.

If you refuse, you refuse, but there are consequences to your refusal. The consequences are nasty, but God is not vindictive. He has given you all the information you need to make your decision. His word tells us what to expect if we reject His gift. His word tells us that Jesus is His flesh, His Son sent as a lamb to suffer and die for our sins. Even Jesus was aware of who He was. Jesus said "He was the way." Jesus is the ONLY way to salvation and eternal life forever in worship and fellowship with God.

His word tells us if we refuse to accept truth, we refuse to accept the gift of Jesus Christ, we will suffer for our own sins.

I don't know your religious affiliation, but this is Christianity 101.

Too bad you'll be left behind because you thought you - were so perfect

Its self-righteous people who toot their own horn and claim to be so special and holy that are going to be in for a big shock when the rapture takes those they sneered at and leave them behind to ponder why. Pharasee!
When did I "toot" my horn? When did I claim to be perfect? - BornAgainMT
[ In Reply To ..]
Never! I am flawed, as are we all. I am not worthy of God's grace and love, yet He freely offers it. I am not worthy of forgiveness and definitely not worthy of such a gift as the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ. And yet He offers it to me and to all.

I am humbled in the presence of the Lord. I accept the gift though I don't deserve it. I sometimes even question that God could forgive a sinner such that I am. But He does. It's that simple. Human nature is to complicate. Human nature is to question. We have to surrender our human nature to God. That's why you argue with me and ridicule me. You haven't surrendered your human nature over to God.
You started this thread - read your first post - the highway
[ In Reply To ..]
You belong to the ONLY religion, your way or the highway, the rapture is taking YOU because you are so special and so saved and so whatever you claim to be.

Now you claim to be humble? A little late for that after all your other posts. Good thing God loves you...everyone else has a differing opinion.

Don't tell me what MY relationship with God is. You know a thing about it, unless God has given you psychic powers too because you're so special. Get over yourself.
Once again, it is not "MY" way or the highway. It is God's way... - BornAgainMT
[ In Reply To ..]
I am humbled before God, NOT you.

I state facts and the facts that have gleaned from your posts is that you advocate there is more than one path to God. You took offense on my statement that there is only one true path and one true God. That tells me that you feel there is more than one way to find salvation which is a FALSE DOCTRINE.

That is a fact! You cannot claim to be Christian and tell everyone that whatever they decide to worship is okay. It doesn't work that way.

I don't need psychic powers to know that you are deceived and as such cannot possibly know God.
Facts? Then where does the faith come in? - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
If religion were solely based on facts, then why would we need faith? Facts can be proven; most religious ideas, like the existence of heaven or how to get there, canNOT. Might want to check your facts, there.
You and I are on two different pages here. The facts to which I am referring - BornAgainMT
[ In Reply To ..]
are the facts about you that I have gotten from your posts. NOT facts about my religion, your religion, etc. The point I am making is that by your own posts, you seem to be not only tolerant of other religious paths, but accepting of them -- you have an all inclusive view of God.

Now, if you want to debate facts versus faith we can do that. Fact - the Bible is a collection of ancient writings of spiritual men. Faith -- the words written by spiritual men was in fact God breathed and divinely inspired.

Fact -- there was a man know as Jesus who was a great teacher and prophet. Fact -- Jesus was crucified. Fact -- Jesus was buried in a tomb and His body disappeared.

Faith -- Jesus was the Son of God sent to cleanse us of our sins. Faith -- His crucification was preordained by God. Faith -- He rose from the dead on the third day and His spirit remains with us today.

Now, here's where it gets confusing for some. Faith is synonymous with fact for most Christians.

But again, let me reiterate that my original comment that contained the word "fact" had to do with the facts about you personally, not religion.
Fact/faith - wrong poster

Not ONCE since I've come on this board have I hijacked anyone's thread, called anyone names, called any POLITICIAN an unkind name or treated anyone with less than courtesy and respect. I create posts that I think are interesting or will encourage an adult, respectful exchange of information.  And there was certainly nothing in this one to warrant the responses that ensued.  I don't engage in the flaming tactics and I would appreciate it if my posts weren't used for ...

To Iluvsocialsecurity PostNov 09, 2012
This is in response to Iluvsocialsecurity post who wrote that it would cost  millions to implement Voter I.D. requirements. Come on be realistic.  You know you have to have an I.D., you pull it out and have it in your hand when you sign in.  You vote.  Please enlighten me as to the cost issue of "millions to implement." ...

My Gun Appreciation Day Post Is Gone?Jan 08, 2013
