We took our male kitty in to be neutered. Before he went in he was a "mammas boy". Mom loved him, cleaned him, played with him and he still was nursing. He has 4 sisters. He went in a couple days ago, neutered, rabies shot, vaccine, etc (which we hated to do, but thought it would be best for him). He came home that night and it was like watching the movie "The Thing". All his sisters and mom hissed at him. 2 were afraid and would not go near him. We figured it was all the smells of the place and the vaccines. Poor little guy was so lonely. Yesterday they still hissed at him, but by afternoon he was playing and a couple joined in playing with him and one wrestled around last night with him, but not too hard. Mother still hissed. Today all the kittens are okay with him. Still not like before he went in, but they are all okay with each other, but mother is still hissing and growling at him. I feel bad for the little guy cos he keeps trying to be with his mom and she wants no part of him. Does anyone know if she'll finally be accepting and start playing and cleaning him like she used to or how long or if there is something I can do to help her get to be with him again. I've been rubbing his fir with cat nip (wet my hand and rub the plant leaves and get my hand full of the smell and rub his fur and massage and pet him hoping the mother will smell him and start caring for him again. of course he just loves to be pet and massaged :-) I just wanted to know if things will go back the way they were. This is the second full day of him being home and just don't know how long it will take or even if it will go back. Anyone have any experience with this? Hope I didn't drone on. I just feel so bad for the little guy.
