Breast Cancer Awareness, Perhaps Going Too Far?Oct 07, 2013
In an e-mail from child's 1st teacher, there is a notation that October 15th is wear pink day in honor of the Komen foundation.   While I think it is wrong to over-shelter kids, I also have to wonder in this case if this would be going perhaps too far.  It is nothing I will raise a stink over, my son will not be wearing pink as he does not have anything pink but I am just kind of baffled by this. ...

Friend Diagnosed With Stage 1B Esophageal CancerMay 19, 2010
Hi all, I have a guy friend who is only 42 years old that was diagnosed with stage 1B esophageal cancer. They were able to remove the tumor and he is now going through radiation treatments 3 days a week for 4 weeks. I would like to make up a care package to give to him, but unsure what I should put in it. I was thinking some inspirational reading material and he is a huge Led Zeppelin fan. I have also heard Ensure or Boost is something good to be taking as a supplement and have thought of some ...

Prayer For Friend's Brother-in-lawAug 31, 2013
Please pray for my friend and her brother-in-law who is suffering with ALS.  He also has been diagnosed with MS and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.  This is almost unheard of to be hit with three major diseases, but the Cleveland Cllinic says this happens sometimes in someone who has never, ever been sick, and then all of a sudden the immune system cannot recognize and fight off disease.  He is now unable to even speak in single syllables, which he could do just a short time ago ...

Diagnosed With Paget's Of BreastJan 03, 2011
This has took me a while to come to terms with it, but I was diagnosed December 3 with Paget's of the right breast. This was misdiagnosed a year ago as eczema. I have to wait and have my 2nd MRI (as I freaked out with the 1st one) on the 31st of this month with a sedative this time, and an ultrasound to find out how far it has progressed. The mammogram is completely clear though and they did not find any lumps. Much prayers are appreciated as I have a 12 and 6 year old and husband at home. ...

Anyone With Experience Breast-feeding?Oct 27, 2010
My daughter has a 7-week old.  She is breast-feeding and all is going well.  She is a special ed administrator/teacher and will have to go back to work in December.  There will also be 2 short overnight trips for work.  She wants to continue the breast milk by pumping and have the nanny give the baby the bottle of breast milk.  The problem is, the baby absolutely refuses a bottle.  She wants the breast or nothing.  It is truly a fight a ...

I have always, ALWAYS had large breasts.  At the age of 12 my nickname was Dolly Parton (humiliating).  I constantly battle with breast masses (all benign so far thankfully), back and neck pain.  Recently I went to Belks and was fitted for a bra and even I was shocked at my "correct" bra size ..... 42 DDD!!!!!!!  I have indentions in the top of my shoulders from where my bra has buried into my skin and I am SICK OF IT!!!  I am looking for anyone who has undergone breast ...

Battle With Breast Lumps, Anyone Else?Jun 04, 2010
I have a family history of breast cancer (aunt with bilateral at a very early age) and have been battling with breast lumps for the past 15 years but very frequently over the last five years or so.  My last breast mass excision was about three years ago after a horrible scare but thankfully it, as well as the others, have been benign.  Three weeks ago I had a horrible attack of cholecystitis (very abrupt) and underwent a cholecystectomy.  While showering three days ago I found yet ...

Breast Mass FollowupMay 07, 2014
A few months ago, I posted a request for prayer.  One of the issues was a suspicious breast lump, which was recommended to be reimaged.  After 3 appointments that had to be rescheduled because of snowstorms here in the Northeast, I had followup images, including ultrasound, and ultimately a core needle biopsy last Thursday.  The radiologist called me yesterday to say the nodule was benign.  What a relief! I just want to thank everyone who prayed.  Those prayers meant so ...

Small Lesion On Breast, How ConcernedOct 19, 2009
I just had a mammogram in March of this year, everything fine. I noticed a slightly bigger than pencil eraser size reddish lesion on 1 margin of my breast day before yesterday. I have had other skin lesions and made visits to the dermatologist as recent as about 2 months ago, had seborrheic dermatitis on my face, also notice sometimes I have like a red, itching place on the upper groin. I wonder if I should be worried enough to go back in and have this latest place checked out? ...

Found A Lump In My Breast Two Days Ago AndOct 19, 2011
my doctor is almost certain it is not a benign lump. I am having a mammogram later today. My cousin died from breast cancer after an 8 year battle earlier this year. I am really hoping and praying that he is wrong. I am 56. Last mammogram two years ago was normal. Please keep me in your prayers. ...

Question Regarding Thawed Turkey BreastFeb 10, 2014
Today I thawed a turkey breast (thawed it in cold water in the fridge).  Planned to make dinner tonight with it.  It is now thawed, but we are really not in the mood for what I had planned.  My question is will it last overnight in the fridge or once thawed do I need to use it right away? Thanks. ...

I Found The Almost Pea Sized Nodule In My BreastApr 29, 2015
I asked if others had faced similar and thanks for the messages. As soon as I found the spot I started calling for as soon as I could get in to see about a mammogram.I can self refer on most appointments but found out if you find something, not a normal mammogram and you have to get doctor referral. That was Monday, so today was my day off. Started the day off with early doctor appointment, had already found out that I could possibly be worked in the same day, same building, with mammographic o ...

The Breast Pump Industry Is Booming, Thanks To Obamacare. :)Jan 05, 2013
[Interested in a new line of work?] Excerpts from Washington Post article, link to artle below. "The legislators who drafted Obamacare wrestled with cosmic issues of health and spending, but here’s one consequence they didn’t foresee: a boom in demand for breast pumps that has left some retailers scrambling to keep up. Tucked within the Affordable Care Act is a provision requiring insurance companies to cover breast pumps and visits to lactation consultants at no cost to ...

Ham Q's....need To Know By Tomorrow! S/mDec 30, 2011
Hello all, I have people coming over to my house tomorrow (Sat) at 5 p.m.  I am planning to serve ham, sliced up for sandwiches. It is currently defrosted in my fridge as of today. It is a 10-12 pound half ham, not precooked or spiral sliced (I think.) Here are my questions: Can I cook it in my Nesco roaster instead of the oven? (Never used a Nesco before, have a 6-qt one still in the box!) If yes, how long do I cook it for and what goes in with the ham besides water? (I tried looking o ...

Hello all,  tomorrow I am testing for an at home MT job. I'm worried beyond worry.  See, I've tested 4 times with other companies, yet not passed their tests.  When I've taken these tests, I feel very confident, then my hopes are bashed. I'm highly experienced! I've been out of work for about 3 years. Has so much changed? Or is there a test secret I don't know? Lol!   I have done every kind of report there is to do, I have been an MT for 25 yea ...

My Daughter's School Will Tell Her Tomorrow If I Don'tDec 17, 2012
I haven't told my child about Conn.  She is not ready for that tragic reality. If I don't send her this week and wait until after the holidays, I risk jail time for noncompliance of state education laws.  But all they will do this week is holiday things and not focus on the usual schedule.  And she will hear about these things at school instead of me.  She is not exposed to TV or radio, or as yet, any friends who might talk about it.  I got an email from the pr ...

In-person Job Interview TomorrowAug 12, 2014
They took me by surprise calling me, since I applied several weeks ago.  it's for a nighttime part-time unit clerk position in a nursing home near me.  I am so nervous! I tend to be a blithering idiot when I am nervous :)  I don't think I have clothes to wear for an interview....sigh.  might need to go out and buy something, or at least decent sandals to wear with a skirt.   I know nothing really about the job, other than that I am quite sure I can do the requ ...

Has Anyone Here Had Bariatric Surgery?Dec 10, 2009
I am just trying to get as much info as possible.  Looks right now like it will be a RNY in India (insurance does not cover it, cost including air fair and all medical costs around $8,000 compared to 25-30,000 in the USA.)  Has anyone here gone through it and how was the process?  Was it open or lap?  What was the recovery time?  How have you adapted to the dietary changes afterwards?   ...

Surgery/WorkMay 30, 2012
I am having upcoming surgery and do not want to use what little bit of sick time I have (because then I'm in a pickle if I get the flu or something).  I inquired if I could use a few vacation days and then have a few off unpaid if needed (because I often use vacation days for necessary things rather than something pleasant).  I was told I could either go the FMLA route and will have to eat up any sick time I have or have to use all vacation time, which will wipe mine out. Do most ...
