Pain

Posted: Jan 25, 2010

Hey, m'lovely MT sisters, I suspect I have bursitis in my right shoulder.  It started as pain in my right arm biceps area and I had an odd rash in the area, so to be honest I was afraid it might have been shingles (never had them, but heard they're very painful).

Ladies, it's been about 6 weeks and it's still freakling painful, but I believe I was wrong on precisely where the pain was originating.  I believe it's emanating at my right shoulder joint.  I've had bursitis in this same arm YEARS ago and can't even remember the treatment or the exercises the doc gave me.  I do remember he advised against a cortisone injection as he said it would be quite painful and only a 50/50 chance of working.

Anyone here have any tried-and-true holistic or folk remedies to help it?  It's not too terribly painful sitting here working.  It acts up when I have to move it over my head or when I'm trying to sleep.

Any suggetions would be welcome...and appreciated!

Five years worth of intense, do not touch me pain. I went through everything including medicine, injections, pain clinics, spinal injections, visits to rheumatologists, etc. etc. and finally the answer to my pain was chocolate. Yep, just the high grade chocolate. I read about its benefits on line, you can too just Google chocolate for pain. I tried the 80 something % and was not for me but settled on the 70% made by Lindt (everywhere, the grocery stores, Walmart) and within about 2 weeks relief. The chocolate comes in several bars that I use 1 across the top, 2 small bars but I tell everyone and anyone with pain to try. I told another lady older than me who suffers with arthritis and hers has been helped. Try and see and then post back if you got any relief.

Thank you for that tip! What do you think about... - RubySoho

That new joint drink, Elations? Although an MT, I'm a bit ignorant about certain ailments and cures for them that don't involve painful injections (shots + me = HYSTERIA).

Does anyone know if bursitis is more joint or muscular related?

Maybe between that healthy antioxidant-chocked dark choclate and the Elations, perhaps the pain would gradually resolve.

BTW, I adore that chocolate you're talking about. They have single-serving squares of it at the gas station I go to, and I always grab one.

HEALTHY CHOCOLATE - A dream come true, lol!

The chocolate is not a 1 day treat, now - Yummy

You need to eat that every day (oh, donĂ¢€™t throw me in the briar patch!!) for I would say at least 2 weeks and see if it can work for you. At first I was saying yuck but hubby asked me if I expected a Mars bar or something so stuck with it. Give it a chance, it cant hurt. I donĂ¢€™t know about the drink you are talking about but I tried other things like cherry juice, berry juice, hubs is into the natural kind of things so he suggests things sometimes but I love that chocolate aspect.

Too funny . . . I grew up hearing that from my dad all the time (he's a big ham). I'm with you when it comes to the dose of chocolate a day . . . please, please don't throw me in that briar patch!

Elations is great. sm - mlstoo

Hubby takes it for his knee. I don't use it. I drink tea instead, mostly green tea. Seems to help with my fibromyalgia pain. Three to four cups a day, but not right before bed, LOL. Otherwise I would be up all night. Also, the decaffienated red raspberry and blueberry teas are great.

That almost makes me think of Lyme's. Maybe that's just because I was diagnosed myself recently and it's on my brain. I never saw a rash on me though. We live in an area where there are tons of ticks. My 1st Lyme's test was wrong, though, so try to go to a doc who will give you the CD57 I believe it is. Terrible pain, fatigue, exhaustion were my main problems along with neck pain and stiffness. Good luck whatever it is!

Old MT/QA With PainMay 13, 2010
I have been an MT/QA for 24 years.  I have fibromyalgia, arthritis, have had bilateral carpal tunnel release, and I have cervical impingement.  I tried a new product called Evolv enhanced water beverage which has a formula called Archaea Active.  It claims to "promote a healthy inflammatory response."  Honestly, I was skeptical about it, but I am here to testify that this is truly a Godsend!!  It was explained to me that it increases oxygen at the cellular level and ...

Leg PainDec 05, 2013
For the last couple weeks, whenever I go to bed, if I am on my back or side, I awaken several times with pain in my right calf and knee, if I turn on my stomach it goes away.  The first couple hours I am up in the morning it is painful, cannot put my right leg over my left, cannot cross my leg to put on my shoes because it immediately causes a sharp pain to shoot through my leg.  Cannot bend over because of the same.  After moving around about two hours it is okay pretty much the ...

Pain At The PumpMar 01, 2012
Do you ever wonder why the gas prices are up and down?  There is still about the same amount of gas out there (although it is a finite resouce that is going away) and we are still using about the same, more or less, with our more efficient vehicles. The price fluctuates because the Wall Street traders can make it fluctuate.  They do this so they can make money.  In 2008, (Bush Administration, by the way) the prices were over $4.00 a gallon.  The Obama administratio ...

Pain In ShinsJun 02, 2011
Hi.  I actually have a health question related to transcribing!  I've transcribed for over 25 years and have had no problems other than tight neck and shoulders; no hand, wrist or arm pain.  Recently my company changed from cassettes to digital, so I'm using a sllightly different type of food pedal.  I can't believe this would make a difference, but I don't know what else could cause this problem ... shin pain.  Firs ...

Inner Ankle PainJun 13, 2013
Hi all, For the last 2 years or so I have been suffering from right inner ankle pain.  It has progressively gotten more and more painful.  I have had x-rays and it shows nothing is wrong.  I am pretty sure it's has to be posterior tibialis tendinitis, but now it's starting on the left ankle.  When I rotate my right ankle in a circle, I can feel a popping sensation that doesn't really feel like it's bone, but it is so terribly sore.  I wondered if may ...

Pain In The Buttocks...LITERALLY!Oct 05, 2011
Well, I'll be darned if I don't have a LITERAL pain in nether region these days and was hoping someone who has experienced what is apparently coccygitis might have some pointers for me. I spend about 12-14 hours a day working at my computer.  I have an ergo chair and I'm reasonably sure my entire workspace is ergo-friendly; however, every time I have to move in my chair or get up to use the restroom or something, the area all around my tailbone is swollen and sore, and it li ...
