Had first eye done but in lots of pain
Posted: Jul 18, 2016
Well had the first cataract done today. In lots of pain today. I didn't know it would be this bad or I might have reconsidered having it done.
Neighbor is putting my drops in though most people I talk with do it themselves. He was adamant. I hope I will be able to do it myself tomorrow.
Please pray this pain goes away and the healing comes quickly. Anyway, the anesthesiologist prayed for me before we started. I appreciated that and was quite surprised.
I hope I can drive myself pretty soon, though, my glasses are not the correct prescription now. Someone said I may see better so to wait a while. I just hope I can get my eye open tomorrow. So painful when I have it open, so they told me to keep it patched.
I am so nervous when something is wrong with my eyes.
Thanks everyone. I really appreciate your prayers for me. ;

"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort."
You should be pain free by morning. You will also be putting your own drops in by then more than likely. Normally if you are having both eyes done they wait until the second eye is completely healed before getting new glasses, but they will pop out the lens of your glasses over the eye you already had done. Try to get rid of the patch as soon as you can so the eye gets stronger. Driving may take a week or so.
Have no doubt, your prayers have already been answered in Jesus name.
Pain is a symptom - Call your doctor

If you are in far more pain than you were told to expect, call your doctor. You may just be a person who is unusually sensitive to pain and there is nothing wrong, but a phone call to your doctor's office is definitely in order. Please please do not feel embarrassed or foolish, your eyesight is too precious to gamble with, just call his (her) office and talk to someone.

His tech told me that the pain was from the incision and that it was normal. She told me to put eye patches on it, fluffy ones and then the hard patch. It helped. She also told me to take something for the pain. I did and went to sleep. Just had my last dose of drops for today.
Thanks for your advice and prayers. I imagine the prayer helped more than the other did. I'd like to believe that. Anyway, I hope I am through the worst of the pain and on my way to healing. I also think the drops are working. My eye was so watery that the first ones just washed out.
Be glad when this is over with. Go to see him Wednesday. I have huge big dark glasses to wear in the sun. They help even inside too. My eyes are so sensitive to light. My neighbor said my pupil is the same size as the other one now. She says I should be able to see better tomorrow. I remember my mother could and her husband could too.
Just makes me so nervous to have any pain or any problem with my eyes involving pain.
I now have the original headache on the right side I had this morning before surgery. It is a migraine because it is in my right eye. I will take some more medication for that in a bit now. Hopefully I won't have it tomorrow.
It stormed this morning and I was nervous about that. We usually get tornado warnings with that kind of storms. Didn't though. It was sunny this afternoon. Very hot though. Thank God for air conditioning.
cataract surgery - gray and old MT

Hi: I had both cataracts done a few years ago, left one first and then 1 year later the right eye. I wore the patches, used 3 different drops and had the surgery on Friday and I waS back to work on Monday transcribing. I have low tolerance to pain also but my doctor used a lot of analgesics and eye drops with them in it so bright light only bothered me a couple of days. At first I was petrified because I have eye sensitivity, but so glad I had them both done, as I do see better, but if I had the money I would have opted for the different lens implant where I would not need glasses ever again. Good luck, you will feel better soon.

I've had both eyes done. As far as I know, you are not supposed to remove the dressing or eye patch until the next day, so if you tried to open your eye the same day after surgery, that could be the reason for part of the pain. Do what they said and keep the patch on until tomorrow. I had some minor pain and my doctor told me to take Tylenol and it helped.

He told me to take it off a noon. So I had it from when the surgery ended till noon. Then had to put first set of drops in.
When did you use your drops, the next day after your surgery.
My doctor does surgery in Africa. He doesn't numb them up. I can't imagine they have to have someone put the drops in their eyes either. The patient probably does that himself. Oh, well.
They must be tough people cause boy I couldn't take no anesthesia. They gave me a little Versed and a little propofol (tad bit). Anyway I was not nearly as groggy as I was after my upper and lower GI.

I'm praying that you heal quickly and that your pain and anxiety are taken away.
I, too, could NEVER put drops in my own eyes until someone turned me on to this method. If you are putting drops in your right eye, look straight into a mirror and tilt your head to the left until it is parallel to the floor. While continuing to look straight ahead with your eye wide open, place the drops onto the lateral white surface of your eye away from the iris. You can keep your hand steady and close enough to your eye by leaning your wrist against your face. When I tried this myself, I couldn't believe how easy it was, and now I have no problems at all self-administering eyedrops.
Keep us posted, Anonie. God bless you.
Thanks. Next one next Monday at 10 a.m. - anonie

Will try this and see how I do. I have three sets of eye drops to put in in a certain order.
Went to have a checkup and everything is A-OK. Says I should just need glasses for reading. I am wondering if I can get glasses since I now look better with them and also would provide me better sight for computer and reading. Going to ask him about that next time.
I don't think I will be so scared the next time, but still hope everything goes okay.
So much has happened awful in my life that I guess I get afraid that things will keep being that way.

Leg PainDec 05, 2013For the last couple weeks, whenever I go to bed, if I am on my back or side, I awaken several times with pain in my right calf and knee, if I turn on my stomach it goes away. Pain At The PumpMar 01, 2012Do you ever wonder why the gas prices are up and down? There is still about the same amount of gas out there (although it is a finite resouce that is going away) and we are still using about the same, more or less, with our more efficient vehicles.
The price fluctuates because the Wall Street traders can make it fluctuate. They do this so they can make money. In 2008, (Bush Administration, by the way) the prices were over $4.00 a gallon. The Obama administratio ...
Pain In ShinsJun 02, 2011Hi. I actually have a health question related to transcribing! I've transcribed for over 25 years and have had no problems other than tight neck and shoulders; no hand, wrist or arm pain. Inner Ankle PainJun 13, 2013Hi all,
For the last 2 years or so I have been suffering from right inner ankle pain. It has progressively gotten more and more painful. I have had x-rays and it shows nothing is wrong. I am pretty sure it's has to be posterior tibialis tendinitis, but now it's starting on the left ankle. When I rotate my right ankle in a circle, I can feel a popping sensation that doesn't really feel like it's bone, but it is so terribly sore. I wondered if may ...

Any suggestions on how to deal?
