Front of ankle pain

Posted: Sep 29, 2010

Does anyone else have pain in the front of their ankle from using the foot pedal?  After waaaay too many years doing this job, the front of both ankles (I switch feet while transcribing) are now really bothering me.  No swelling, tho.  I go to the gym 2 hours a day and of that, 45 min is cardio.  Ankles don't bother me then.  Wondering if anyone has had this and found a solution?  Any advice would be most greatly appreciated! Cool

My foot pedal sits on a stand that is flexible, and I never have ankle pain.

I used to have this problem when I had my foot pedal set to tap on to play. This left me with my foot raised above the pedal while the audio was playing until I hit the pedal again to stop, rewind, etc. Now I have it set to hold down to play, and I set the rewind on pause to 1 second (meaning I hardly ever have to hit the rewind button), and I've never had the pain since.

I'm 5'10" (very short torso) and have my chair all the way up with a 3 inch cushion and the back of my knees still don't touch the chair LOL. I can't go any higher because I won't be able to get under the keyboard tray (my quads already touch the bottom of it). I never used the tap to play setting on my software, so I know that's not it. I was thinking about getting one of those rests that's slanted to put the pedal on perhaps? It happens with both ankles, so I know it has to with the pedal or chair/pedal combo :(

Thanks you two for the suggestions :)

Inner Ankle PainJun 13, 2013
Hi all, For the last 2 years or so I have been suffering from right inner ankle pain.  It has progressively gotten more and more painful.  I have had x-rays and it shows nothing is wrong.  I am pretty sure it's has to be posterior tibialis tendinitis, but now it's starting on the left ankle.  When I rotate my right ankle in a circle, I can feel a popping sensation that doesn't really feel like it's bone, but it is so terribly sore.  I wondered if may ...

Severe Ankle EdemaJun 10, 2011
For the past 10 days or so, and never before in my life, my ankles are swelling to the point of pain and the skin on my left foot looks like it is going to burst.  I have no options for work other than home MT and work full time and more at this.  Anyone else have this issue and what do you do about it? ...

Ankle/foot SwellingAug 10, 2011
For the 2nd time in 2 weeks I have had extreme foot and ankle swellling.  Funny enough it has happened exactly a week from the first episode.  I used to swell just a little bit from working but by the next morning, it would have subsided.  Not these past 2 times. Last week, I went to the doctor and got some Lasix and even after taking 1/2-1 tablet per day of this, my feet are still swollen 3+.  It is very uncomfortable and unnerving. Should I go back to the doctor or put my f ...

Do Your Kitties Like To Sit Right In Front Of The Monitor?Oct 28, 2009
I have two cats and they both love my desk and they both will hop up on my desk while I'm working and sit right in front of the monitor.  Then they just look around the room like nothing is amiss.  Most of the time they sleep behind my monitor where they can stare out the window, but every so often they like to tease me.  They also like to step on my keyboard.  I swear they think it's funny!   ...

Front Loading WashersMar 05, 2010
What kind of detergent do you use? I'm getting a front loader this weekend (I hope) and right now I have a bottle of Tide Cold Water. It says it's ok for front loaders but a friend and I were talking last night and she said the instructions for hers said not to use Tide as it gums up the system. Do you think I could water down the Tide and use up this bottle and then switch to something else later? ...

More Good News On The Economic FrontDec 02, 2010
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Pending home sales unexpectedly surged in October, hinting the economic recovery has legs. Also, the four-week moving average for jobless claims fell to a fresh two-year low, though new claims were higher for the week. "Fear is evaporating ever so slightly. The economy is not falling off a cliff, giving investors a glimmer of hope," said Kim Caughey Forrest, senior equity research analyst at Fort Pitt Capital Group in Pittsburgh. ...

Vegtable Garden In The Front Yard?May 22, 2012
I am of the school that you plant flowers and shrubs and bushes in the front yard for good curb appeal.  You make your house look very appealing and pretty, but we have newer neighbors next to us that have decided to plant a vegtable garden out front.  They are growing carrots and onions and such in front of the house, while the rest of the block looks pretty, my mid summer, this yard next to ours is going to look like a weedy jungle.  They bought a townhouse, not a farm house.&nb ...

Marines Moving Women Toward Front LinesJan 23, 2013
This is a kind of study, to see how women handle combat, I guess?   "In the coming months, General Amos said in an interview, the Marine Corps plans to assign about 40 women to 19 battalions of six different types: artillery, tank, assault amphibian, combat engineer, combat assault and low-altitude air defense. Infantry battalions, however, will remain closed to women." ...

Ladies, it's been about 6 weeks and it's still freakling painful, but I believe I was wrong on precisely where the pain was originating.  I believe it's emanating at my right shoulder joint.  I&# ...

Old MT/QA With PainMay 13, 2010

Pain In ShinsJun 02, 2011
Hi.  I actually have a health question related to transcribing!  I've transcribed for over 25 years and have had no problems other than tight neck and shoulders; no hand, wrist or arm pain.  Recently my company changed from cassettes to digital, so I'm using a sllightly different type of food pedal.  I can't believe this would make a difference, but I don't know what else could cause this problem ... shin pain.  Firs ...
