Opinions about my child

Posted: May 21, 2010

I am not sure what to do about my child and would like opinions on who to see or what.  When my son was around 5 years old, we lived in a house and he would say he "saw people" in the house.  I would see him standing there and he would jump as if something startled him, but of course nothing was there.  It got to the point that I couldn't even step out on the front porch without him being right under me, afraid to be inside by himself.  Well, later on, my 16-year-old stepson came to visit and I hadn't mentioned anything to him about what my son saw and my stepson came in my room screaming at 3:00 a.m. saying what HE saw and he was describing the exact two people that my son had been describing.  My stepson wasn't a typical teen, he was very smart, very mature and just not your typical teen that would make anything up.  Well WE MOVED!!!!!!

Since we have moved, it has been the SAME situation.  My son is now 10 years old, so this has been going on for five years!  He claims to see different people now in our new house and he is afraid to be inside alone, afraid to shower without someone standing near the bathroom door, etc.  I'm not one to hugely believe in that type of stuff, myself.  It seems to be getting worse lately and I'm not sure if he should see a psychiatrist, a preacher, a medium or what!  Seriously, I don't want him spending his life afraid.  I mean, if he really IS seeing something, then would a psychiatrist even help that?  Just not sure what to do.

Well, I had an experience where I lived in an old house and I saw things. Some people think that is crazy, as I did until it happened to me. I had gotten married, my son and I moved into my husband at that time's house. He had told me that there were aliens living in his house. LOL Well, I was woke up several times during the night to see a white cloudy figure walking past my bed. It seemed to be the size of a child. I had a ring that I was wearing and put it in my jewelry box at night. The next morning it was gone. I looked all over, thinking I had set it somewhere, but I knew I put it there. Well, I started speaking sternly telling the little girl to put my ring back and stop playing games. (this figure reminded me of a little girl) Well, the next morning the ring was in my jewelry box, right where I had left it.

One night, I was sleeping and was laying on my side facing my husband's back and woke up with this figure standing next to the bed on my husband's side of the bed. I kind of rolled on my back and sighed. My husband asked what's the matter and I said "Do you get the feeling we are being watched?" He said, Well, yeah, it is standing right on the side of the bed." Anyway, one day, I heard my son outside talking to someone. He came in and I asked him who he was talking to. He said he was talking to the kids but they couldn't talk to him because their mouths were full. He was about 6 at the time and there were no kids out there. I used to see the one regularly; though, my husband told me there were 2. Then one night I woke up and saw a larger cloud-like figure that looked like a chubby kid (felt that was a boy). I got up on my elbow and said outloud so, that's the other one. I was wide awake and saw it clearly. It got so I got used to them regularly and was not scared anymore.

We did some remodeling and I never saw them after that. Don't know if that scared them away or if it was when I told them to go to the light. LOL (you always see that in the movies)

I know people think things like this are crazy or there is a logical explanation, but I truly believe after that. I'm not sure about why they would follow you to a new house. Don't know what advise to give you, just wanted to let you know you are not alone.

I really am not crazy.

I'm a skeptic when it comes to this kind of thing; however, there are tons of TV shows on now about this very subject. From what I've seen (my son and DH love this kind of stuff), I'd start with a medium. It's been said (on these various TV shows) that one can have an "entity" follow them around for their entire lives. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but if your son is afraid, I'd at least consult a medium with this kind of "gift." As I said, I'm a skeptic, but it is fascinating...please let us know how it turns out.

Oh, also on these shows, they do say if you command the "spirit" or "entity" to leave, it will. I saw on one show, can't remember now what it was, but the medium said if you encounter a "spirit/ghost/entity" to tell it to go to the summerland, and it will leave...hey, it's worth a try, right? Good luck...

of this nature. Definitely could be that he has a spirit attached to him. As the others suggest, I would consult a local paranormal society in your area and ask if they could come to check things out for you and get their suggestions. Definitely check out whoever you call first, there are a lot of fake psychics out there who are just out to get money.

And no, if he is really seeing spirits/ghosts, etc., a psychiatrist won't help him.

Feel bad for your son, I agree with you in that you don't want your son to go around with fear. There is a show on cable that talks or features children like yours that either see spirits or have unexplained sightings, they are taken to doctors, psychiatrists, and finally to these specialists that deal with psychic issues, I can't remember the name of it, but it's always on the weekend, I will check this weekend and write you back. It's on the same channel that shows celebrity ghosts show here in Illinois. Perhaps someone reading this knows. I currently hear some noises in my home too. I think if someone is open to this or believes in it, it will come. I hear someone right by me pushing the blinds into the window and there's no one there. My husband has heard it and he said it's the wind, but no windows are open! I would be the only or main one to hear it unexpectedly, so I finally swore and said stop and stop doing that, it's annoying, and I didn't hear for several months. Until lately I have been hearing it even in daylight, not only that but my husband has been awoken by someone? pulling his foot and the other day by someone flicking his ear at 4:00 a.m. Now he believes. The house we live in is 80 years old so I am sure there is alot of history here. Good luck to you and your son, at least you stand by him and not call him crazy, that's good.

these are not ghosts - HR

[ In Reply To ..]
There are no such thing as ghosts. Do not believe what you see on television regarding spirits that are "lost" or need to "move on." These entities are demons, plain and simple, and they are evil. They are fallen angels and they serve Satan. Their purpose is to cause fear, which is exactly what they are doing, correct? They love to cause pain and torment people.

Do not consult a medium. They can speak to the demons, but they don't recognize that they are evil, filthy creatures. Get out your phone book and call an Assemblies of God church or any other labeled Full Gospel and talk to the pastor. He or she will help you. Any person who has received Christ has the authority to tell these demons to leave and they have to obey.

You said that you don't want your son to be afraid. Of course you don't. Well, God does not want that either. He wants you to have a house full of His peace and he wants your son to be free of this oppression.

I'll pray that you get help.

Oh brother - you do not know this - sm

Just because you don't believe in ghosts does not mean there is no such thing. Sure there are a few crackpot shows on TV, but there are also some good society's out there who are very helpful. You do NOT know if they are demons or if they are evil.

The poster DOES need to contact a medium or a paranormal group.

Contacting a church is the worst advise one could give. They will not do anything.

The poster should listen to the other posts and contact a paranormal group. They will be able to help. Most likely they are spirits who are stuck on this side. I've seen many shows that commend the spirits to go to the light and that they need to move on and the people do not have any more problems.

These are not demons. I do not believe in Satan or demons, but just because I don't believe I'm not going to say they don't exist, just like you say there is no such thing as ghosts. Ghosts/spirits are real.

ghosts/spirits - HR

Just to clarify, it is my belief that what others are calling ghosts, or spirits of those who have died that are somehow stuck here, are in fact demons, which are evil and cause fear and torment people. A ghost would have no reason to torment people - they would just be looking for help since they are lost - if they did exist. You can tell this is demonic activity because her son is so terrified. That's what demons do. They thrive on fear.

Why would you be so certain that a church will not do anything? It sounds like you have a grudge.

I believe that contacting a medium is the worst advice one could give. Mediums are friends with demons. Where do you think these mediums get their "gifts?" They cooperate with demons.
Mediums are not friends with demons - sheesh!
[ In Reply To ..]
Sounds like something they'd say in church.

I have no grudges against church. Good place to socialize but that's about it.

You do not know that mediums get their gifts from demons. They do not cooperate with them, and most of the time the mediums help people get the evil away from them.

A medium/paranormal group would be the best place to start for help.
mediums - sheesh! - HR
[ In Reply To ..]
We are coming at this from opposite ends of the spectrum, obviously. You place no value in church or its teachings, and I believe that is where truth and freedom and peace can be found. No wonder we disagree.

For those who do believe the Bible, Leviticus 20:27 shows what God thinks about spiritualists/mediums. God despises this activity and forbids it. Many people claim that mediums have a God-given gift, but they don't know about this part of the Bible which proves otherwise.

I really hope this mother can find the help she needs to get her child delivered from this fear. A pastor of the above-mentioned types of churches would certainly be willing to cast out the demon, at no charge mind you, so this boy can have peace. Again, I will pray she contacts a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ, who has the authority to set him free.

I sent you an email, Lisa - Hope it helps (NM)

Whatever you do, try to get this resolved before puberty - ***

[ In Reply To ..]
I grew up in a house my father swears up and down was haunted. When I got my menses, everything around me would just fall and break w/o reason. I was terrified of the stairs...

Anyway, supposedly whatever is attracted to your son becomes very active during thoes turbulent hormonal years and will probably get worse if you don't resolve it while he's 10 or 11.

My sister said the same thing - sm

They live in a 300 year old home. Everything was fine in the house and then when they brought children into the home unexplained things happened. They were not freaked and neither were the kids, but activity was strong. They were told by many that it would get worse when the kids reach that age. They learned to live with it. They were never in any danger and it became routine for them. Once the children passed the age things settled down.

two things: see your PCP and see a psychologist - sssdt

[ In Reply To ..]
See your internist because you want to rule out hallucinations that have a medical cause.

See a psychologist because you want to rule out mild psychoactive disorders. Your son doesn't sound like he has a serious disorder or medical illness, but you want to be sure. Tell them the truth about everything. A good doctor won't think you're making it up or being crazy.

Good luck.

What I did. - anon

Whatever you do, do NOT tell him these things don't exist. That will just make it worse. Definitely tell him you believe him and try to convince him not to be afraid. This will take time. Hopefully he is just seeing these things and they are not actually trying to hurt him.

My daughter went through the same thing years ago. When I married my husband, we moved into a house that he had inherited from a great aunt. By the time my daughter was around 2 or 3, she would tell me that she could see a woman, especially in my bedroom. I never saw her, but I did not discount what my daughter was telling me even at that age. Instead, I told her that it was probably her great great aunt who just wanted to look over us and stay with us. She was still afraid for a while, but eventually got over it. When she was 7, we moved, but did not sell the house. We rented it out over the years. Now that same daughter is 22 and is living with her son in the very same house where she saw the woman. She is not afraid, but still tells me to this day that the woman is still there, but doesn't bother her or her son. So far, though, her son has not mentioned seeing anything and he is 3 now.

I also think church is important in these matters. I started taking my daughter to church when she was around 3 or 4 where she learned that having christ living in your heart, these things cannot hurt you.

I would not tell your son that he is not seeing someone or something. I know from my own experiences that when we are young we "see" immages and people from other times. I personally did and my family chalked it up to me having an imaginary friend. She was not imaginary and I was able to prove it when I got older and found info about the girl and where she lived and showed it to them. I know that my son has seen people as well that have passed on, even the woman who I had worked with that had passed away when he was just a baby. We bought her house later on. He explained what she looked like and I knew imediately that it was her. I just told him that she had liked the house and was keeping watch over it and us. I do know that some are not so friendly either and down right mean as well. I would do your best to find out if any one had ever passed away in the house or etc and see what you can find to help him sort out the details. I can tell you from experience that church is good as long as they are not going to frighten your son into thinking that all that he sees or hears is bad. Help him to find out who scares him and who does not and go from there. My son is autistic and his senses are highly aware of all things seen and unseen. I wish you and him much luck and good will.

Hi all, What do you think about people who pray for, what I term, silly things? Like what color drapes to buy, what shoes to wear that day, etc. I find it rather silly because people have to take controls over their own lives. I do not believe in "handing everything over" to the higher power. Our higher power (who I term God) gave us brains and will and power to make decisions.
