Need opinions please about school (sm)

I am currently looking into returning to school like so many other MTs out there. There are programs where you can get an Associates Degree in Healthcare Management (basically medical records), which I am really not interested in because, as I see it, most hospitals are trying to cut down their medical records departments to as slim of staff as possible, plus with the integration of EMR, I just do not see this being a lucrative field. IF, big big IF here, I were to enter into this program I would go after my Bachelor of Science in Health Adminstration with a concentration in either Health Information Systems, Health Management or in Emergency Management. I guess I am looking for opinions here. Do you think that it would be a waste of time to enter into one of these fields? I just honestly do not know. I live in a rural area where there are just a couple of clinics and a couple of hospitals, I do live about an hour from Atlanta but again, I am just not sure that this is a lucrative field. I definitely do not want to end back up in a position as I am with MT.

The other field that I am looking at is something that I have been interested in my entire life, psychology, going on, of course to get my Bachelors degree in it since there are not very many jobs available for someone with just an Associates degree. I would love to work as a counselor at one of the local schools and this would enable me to do that.

Again, my main question is do you believe that obtaining an associates or even a bachelors degree in health management or health administration would be prudent?

I can tell you that people with Bachelors in psychology are not finding many job opportunities - Sounds like fun though

Both of my daughters have college degrees but no in psych. They have told me that you do not get too far with a psych degree unless you get your masters in social work. My daughter's college roomate graduated with a psych degree but went back to school and ended up getting her masters in special needs teaching because with just the psych degree she could not find a job.

You really can't work in psychology or counseling without at least a Master's. You most likely would need a Master's to work as a school counselor, as well. I've never heard of anyone working as a school counselor with only a BA, although there could be exceptions in some states. When I graduated with my BA, I went to work in HR, which was a good fit for me at the time. My plan was to at some point go on for a Master's or PhD, but then I came across MT and am making the big bucks now, LOL!

Wouldn't psychology be a BS? - Just wondering...

Some schools offer a BS in Psychology, which is a much more research-oriented degree and targeted to people who want to go into the research end rather than the clinical end. The vast majority of psychology graduates with 4-year degrees hold BAs, though.

Hi all, What do you think about people who pray for, what I term, silly things? I live in a semidetached neighborhood and the neighbors on one side constantly burn a fire pit with wood pallets and whatever in it all the time at least 4 to 5 times a week. Well our cars next door are covered with ashes from their fire pit and we have new cars. We have talked to them about this but it does not good. Any sugestions. Need carpet that will wear well and stand up to cats (with claws), hairballs, etc. We looked at nylon carpet, but that is too pricey. They suggested polyesther but the reviews on Google are not encouraging.
