Just quit drinking Diet Coke this week

I tried to go from 4 liters of Coke Zero a day to none...I thought my head was going to explode. My doctor told me that caffeine is an addiction just like drugs/alcohol. I have now slowly weaned myself off the caffeine and sleep sooo much better.

OP is indeed going through caffeine withdrawal. You must have been drinking a lot of cola.

You may have to do as poster said, gradually start soda again (or coffee if you are too addicted to the soda taste), then wean down slowly.

Went off coke 7 years ago after a lifelong coke drinker, regular. Had headaches while drinking coke, high BP, weight gain, etc. Thought stopping drinking coke would change my life, also thought I'd never recover from the loss... 7 years later, now 'addicted' to gingerale, with severe high BP and fatter than ever...Don't miss the coke, though...matter of fact, if you put one in front of me, I'd likely throw it down the sink. I almost wish I missed it, though, if you know what I mean...though I'm not sure I do! Good luck, but I think I learned only what I probably already knew from my still- ridiculous life without coke... that everything stinks in general and nothing really matters...so drink, my friend, drink...

When I opened your post, the Google ad that appeared top of page was for a med called Myrbetriq and the ad gives side-effects as may increase your blood pressure. Apparently, the site "read" high BP from your posting and gave me that ad.

The site did not "read" high BP in the post. Google ads have more to do with us using this site than anything else.

Yes, I used to drink them, and noticed I would have a strange feeling in my head every time. A few years later, all the bad things were discovered about aspartame. Look up Dr. Blaylock's website on Google and he will explain it. I don't every use anything with aspartame now. Use Stevia only, make a lot of tea. There is a new machine out where you can make your own drinks too, maybe add Stevia, I don't know, called The Soda Stream.

No calories. I either buy the already-flavored seltzer, or just squeeze a lime or lemon into plain seltzer. Does me good. I'm not talking sparkling water or the flavored waters. Just seltzer. It may be called a drink mixer.

I also drink tonic water sometimes,too, but there's sugar in that. They do have sugar-free, but I'm not sure which artifical sweetener they use.

Seriously, I drink a lot of water and unsweetened iced tea and good old black coffee. Just never got into the soda habit, thank heavens.

As bad as sugar is for some of us, it's better than strange chemicals if you absolutely have to have something sweet.

I used to live in NJ, and the water was delicious--it came out of artesian wells. When I moved to FL, not so much, especially in the summer. So, we bought a filter and our drinking water is a separate little faucet on the kitchen sink.

I have gone one full day without having any Coke at all. I usually have four at the max. I feel like I my rear end is dragging the floor. I'm yawning constantly. I cannot concentrate on work. Our dog weighs 108 pounds (black lab). She doesn't want to exercise. Won't play anymore. Just lays around. I've been an active smoker for 15 years. I grew up in a smoker's household, so I don't know what it's like to live without cigarettes around.
