Trayvon Martin's autopsy shows that

he was shot in the chest from "intermediate" range. His only other injury was a very small (no more than 1/4 inch) abrasion on the left ring finger below the knuckle.

A medical report on Martin’s alleged killer 28-year-old George Zimmerman, prepared by his personal physician the day after Martin’s shooting in Sanford, Fla., on Feb. 26, found that the Neighborhood Watch volunteer suffered a likely broken nose, swelling, two black eyes and cuts to the scalp.

Something definitely does not add up here.

I agree it is a tragedy and understand totally Trayvon's parents being so upset. However, it seems the media and everyone else rushed to say this was racially motivated and now Zimmer is in fear of his life.

There were some pictures of the back of Zimmer's head that did not support his allegation that he had a laceration and wound to the back of his head.

Now these conflicting results. I feel bad for all involved, but with the conflicting news and the conflicting reports, I won't take a stand on 1 side or the other. Hopefully the facts come out in the trial to finally put this to rest!

For the OP, Zimmerman's doctor diagnosed him with a confirmed CLOSED FRACTURE of the nose, not a likely fracture. There was a reported photo taken the very night of Zimmerman's head and confirmed later to have TWO lacerations. All of this goes along with his claims... and he still claims to be the one screaming for help before he shot Trayvon. I will NOT convict this man, especially now with the new info !

report of the incident. The autopsy is the official report which states "intermediate range", no or insignificant powder burns, not inches away rather feet. There is no way Trayvon could have inflicted a broken nose on Zimmerman that produced swelling and two black eyes with no evidence of bruising or significant abrasion on his hands.

Also, Zimmerman had no bleeding from his nose, no blood on his clothing that night. I suspect Zimmerman inflicted his injuries on himself or had a buddy whack him after he left the police station and before going to a doc the next day.

intermediate range means anywhere from 1-18 inches. Here's the exact quote:

Dr. Michael Baden, the former New York City medical examiner, said "intermediate" in such cases is defined as the muzzle of the gun being one to 18 inches away from the entry point when fired.

by tripping or being pushed and hitting his face on a hard surface. For example, a former classmate of mine broke her nose when hit by a softball; she had 2 black eyes to go along with the red nose. And, I was a juror in an assault case where a man was pushed hard, fell down and hit his head on the street, lost consciousness. The defendant would not necessarily have injuries to his hands for pushing (it was not brought up in court).

So, not saying you are wrong, but just want to point out that there are other scenarios.

One thing that court case taught me was to not make a judgment until all the evidence is revealed, which is how I am viewing the Martin/Zimmerman case.

"intermediate" could be a few inches. There was stippling found on Travon's chest, so the gun was close. This was confirmed by physicians on the program, not just said by host BTW. If Travon only had a small 1/4 inch cut on his ring finger, how could Zimmerman claim those injuries were made by Travon? His hands would have shown signs of hitting someone to cause the black eyes and nose injury. What has gone through my head is the fact that Zimmerman was released from police station that evening. He did not see his doctor unti the next day. Who knows what could have happened during those overnight hours...

It is not necessary to kill someone just because you have the power to do so. Do we understand how this tragedy could happen? Yes. But that doesn't allow us to excuse it under the law - nor should it. I feel for Mr. Zimmerman, as I imagine he would not wish to kill this young man. Regardless, that was the outcome of his actions, and in this society we pay dues for that.

According to Zimmerman, his gun became exposed - and Trayvon said he would kill him with it.

This should have never been elevated to where it has gone. This had nothing to do with race. Obama should have kept his mouth shut in a situation he had no idea what it was (but what do you expect with the beer fest). The smallest amount that can be detected with measurement. It means nothing legally. What about the benzos and Adderall that Zimmerman was prescribed? Since they did not do a drug screen on him, we will never know what he had in his system. Really, how is this of any significance to the fact that Travon was doing NOTHING illegal, just walking home. This law is absurd and it is being abused, just like in this case. Zimmerman was the pursuer, he is responsible for his actions.

All this matches Zimmermans story. Trayvon, unfortunately, was a little punk. TWO witnesses stated he was beating Zimmerman and Zimmerman screamed for help over and over. Sorry for Trayvon, but he caused his death.

Trayvon had been suspended 3 times, and his mom - gave up and turned him over to Dad.
