he's drawing huge crowds which proves the country as founded is dead. We already have the Welfare State on steroids. Sanders is drawing large crowds because the country has moved sharply to the left over the past decade.
He'll put a 25% tax on wealth. Why start a business or try to earn more if it will be taxed to death?
So you are OK with the wealthy 1% and big corporations... - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
paying no taxes and hiding their profits in off shore accounts? This country was founded on we the people, not we the rich.
You are talking about corporate America, I'm talking about - every Joe America who owns a small
[ In Reply To ..]
business who gets caught up in the crosshairs.
Bernie supports every Joe American. That's what....sm - #feelthebern
[ In Reply To ..]
he has always been all about. He wants the 1% to pay their fair share so the little guy's burden is lighter.
Does that include Hollywood, rappers, music - industry, and big unions, or
[ In Reply To ..]
just corporate America?
It includes anyone in the top 1% (billionaires) who do not...sm - #feelthebern

pay their fair share of taxes and/or who hides their income off shore to avoid their tax liability, democrats and republicans alike. There is lots of factual information about Bernie all over the web if you are interested.
You know darn well it'll never happen - Truthhurts

The uproar from the HOllyweird people will blow a gasket if they have to pay more taxes.
I'd really love to see them taken down a peg or two with their high and mighty attitude of "let everyone else pay except me." They don't consider themselves corporate America so they think they are in the clear.
I would be all for higher taxes on the "rich" if the "rich" included the weirdos out there, but it never does.
Maybe we could also tax the private islands they own via some kind of property tax, because if Iran ever nukes us and the weirdos get wind of it ahead of time, they'll be long gone to their private islands.
Corporate America provides jobs. Hollyweird not so much. They are the ones who should be hit the hardest.
Much of the left's funding comes from the govt, PP, - PBS, Acorn (or whatever they're
[ In Reply To ..]
calling themselves now), unions, and on and on. Just another massive kickback scheme we all have come to know.
Corporate America donates to Democrats just like Hollyweird, etc. This is just rhetoric. They need each other.
Can't blame people for doing whatever the tax law - allows them to do. sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Funny how its the tax provisions that benefit someone ELSE that we don't like. The tax breaks that WE get - we like those much better.
If you own a house, I bet you take the mortgage interest deduction (if you don't, you're nuts), and maybe you should know that a lot of renters hate YOU for getting THAT "loophole".
Judge Learned Hand, who was pretty liberal socially, said this:
"Anyone may so arrange his affairs that his taxes shall be as low as possible; he is not bound to choose that pattern which will best pay the Treasury; there is not even a patriotic duty to increase one's taxes."
...and...
"Nobody owes any public duty to pay more (taxes) than the law demands."
Don't fall victim to cheap appeals to comparisons, class envy and hatred. Instead, follow leaders who appeal to achieving the highest that is within YOU to be. Focus on you, not others. You have no idea what miseries they have, anyway.
Besides which, the wealthy pay the vast majority of taxes in - this country anyway. sm
[ In Reply To ..]
You can perhaps forgive them if, from time to time, they pull up their pants and say "Okay, that's enough now."
Well they also make the vast majority of money - so why less percentage than us?
[ In Reply To ..]
They should not have the right to say "enough now" - we don't.
It takes away the incentive to do better, after all if it's - going to be taxes why bother?
[ In Reply To ..]
nmsg
So the reasoning is they should pay less - percentage of income than we do
[ In Reply To ..]
Because if they have to pay the same percentage as us little guys they have a hissy fit and stomp away? (Donald Trump and his privileged, born with silver spoon and foot in mouth, ilk pop into anyone else's mind?)
Anything wrong with this picture? Also, don't forget they are the ones who pushed for "laws" which allow them to offshore jobs with no penalty, place their millions in other countries with no penalty (except accounting bills presumably, helping them hide all that $).
Incentive to "do better" is relative. I still don't see why, because they make so much multiples more than us, they get the right to pay less of a percentage of income. Makes no sense at all.
Valerie Jarrett takes advantage of it. She takes advantage - of tax loopholes that she opposes,
[ In Reply To ..]
or I should say opposes for other people.
"Laws are spider-webs, which catch the little flies, but cannot hold the big ones." Anacharsis.
He's no different than Obama. Not sure what is - meant by revolution. He just
[ In Reply To ..]
doesn't try to hide it.
He'll buy votes by promising freebies like student loan forgiveness or "free" college. Federal government keeps growing and states keep losing power. Think about how much power the Fed has.
Politics is a games for insiders and divides the masses. Like George Carlin said, “It’s a big club, and you ain't in it.”
There's all salesmen. Salesmen tell you what - you want to hear. nm

They all like to use the term "fair share" a lot - but don't talk about government
[ In Reply To ..]
favors to corporation that donate money to them, both parties.
If you attach an actual number to the phrase “fair share,” you’ll find that the rich pay far more than a fair share. But that’s not the point to the phrase; it needs to be deliberately vague so that it can always be trotted out to feed the class envy wing of the Democrat party.
Has anyone asked Bernie what he thinks about Hillary's emails? - I'd love to hear what he thinks
[ In Reply To ..]
about all this. I would like to know if he believes that we are still a nation of laws and do those laws apply to the politic elites.

Entitlements have become a culture. It's not - govt assistance, it's taxpayer
[ In Reply To ..]
funded assistance.
If you mean Social Security, what the right - loves to call an entitlement
[ In Reply To ..]
It is basically getting money back you paid in, so how is that an "entitlement?" Yes, some get more than they put in, but most of us pay way more than we get back, and the richest of us pay very little into Social Security.
We should definitely be entitled to get money back from the system after paying into it all our lives, and the privatization of Social Security is one thing Republicans are NEVER going to get support for unless they can figure out a way for Fox News to bamboozle those poor souls who watch religiously that somehow this is good for them.
They constantly try to equate wealth with religion, which is frankly obscene, but they can't quite get the hook, maybe they will find it some day and the brainwashing will be complete.
Sure, my lord master, take all my earnings and do with it what you will because you are so much smarter than me and a "businessman" so just leave me a few crumbs, all I deserve.
Sounds more like communism than capitalism or a feudal system with the Kochs as the "kings." Do NOT buy into it.
SS is not on par with welfare, and yes you are getting money back, - but the govt spent what you put in
[ In Reply To ..]
long ago. That's why it's going bust. The workers now are the ones paying it, and it takes 4 or 5 of them just to pay for one recipient. Add on all the illegals soon to get it and it's a recipe for disaster.
All that rambling you did about republicans and Koch Bros should be directed to the govt as a whole. Bush wanted to let people keep SS and do what they wanted to do, but the AARP had a cow and shot that down immediately.
About 30 yrs ago, Galveston Co. in Texas opted out of SS and created personal retirement accounts. Many of them were union members and have seen their accounts grow.
SS has become untouchable politically for both parties.
That would be because George W was the - worst offender of borrowing from SS
[ In Reply To ..]
And Republicans on the whole have been the ones who raided it.
It started with Reagan and his wonderful tax cuts that he had no way to pay for either. Under the guise of "protecting" Social Security he gave the govt a mechanism to raid it with his SS amendments in 1983.
http://www.fedsmith.com/2013/10/11/ronald-reagan-and-the-great-social-security-heist/
And from the link below:
"Lets take a look at when the money started being spent. That would take us back to George H.W. Bush. It continued under the next president, Bill Clinton; but to his credit, Clinton presided over a booming economy, and handed over a surplus to the Shrub, George 'Dubya' Bush. And that appears to be where the spending went nuts, blowing the balance of the Social Security money with his wars and most of all, with his ill-conceived tax cuts ---- the ones that benefit the wealthy very few, so very, very much more than anyone else."
I wish SS had been literally untouchable, then it would be fine now, but unfortunately it appears they have been raiding it for years and there is no candidate out there willing to put the money back in, which I believe most of us due that SS would like very much, before another war please.
You can believe that if you want to, even though it's not true, - SS has been part of the general
[ In Reply To ..]
fund and therefore skews the real results.
Clinton had nothing to do with the "booming" economy. It was a result of the dot com boom, plus advances in computers. The Republicans passed welfare reform amount other things, which he signed, but Obama got rid of. Clinton has passed DOFA which Obama got rid of.
I know some see the world through politics only, and I know better than to engage in a discussion because it's fruitless, but the truth is, both parties are equally to blame. Actually, the American people are to blame for electing them.
