Can you not tuck this into one of the gazillion threads here regarding this whole situation? We already know all this you just wrote, it's in the news.

Some of us would like to have a discussion besides this other "stuff." We get it. You think it's horrible a black kid was killed. I don't recall the gab board or the political board being up in arms the last time a white kid was murdered by a black person.

It is good news to gab about - if you don't like it don't read it - That is the beauty of titled posts.

As to race, yes this is a black and white thing. I don't recall any of those people at anybody's vigil when a white kid was killed. Or it even being in the media, for that matter.

This can be done by anyone who feels a person was unjustly gunned down or killed. It is up to a family to pursue justice and it is their responsibility to call in any power who can help them bring attention to their issue.

The media is covering the news made by the vigil and the participants. That is their job.

I can say if a loved one was killed on the way home from the local convenience store and the killer was not arrested or thoroughly investigated, I would do the same thing Trayvon Martin's parents did and bring in whoever could help make sure the public was aware of police action or non-action. I would continue until I felt justice was served and I do not mean 5 white and 1 non-black ethnic jury member decided the case in the killer's favor.

The jury system is flawed and jurists are fallible. Truth be told, there is bias in all of us.

White people don't matter. It's okay if a white or Hispanic person dies, just not a black person, especially one who caused his own death. The message they are saying is it's okay for white people to die, we don't care. And if a black person is beating you up and ready to grab for your gun then lay there and let him do it. Your life does not matter, only theirs.

Sharpton, Jackson, Obama, the "stars" with their God complexes that speak out on this. All of them are saying if you are not black you don't matter to us.

I think it is quite sad that the stars, Sharpton and Jackson, and now our current president, revere blacks over anyone else.

It's sickening, actually. You would think that a black person never, ever hurt a white person, the way they are all behaving. People hurt people of all races, and quite often it's not even a racial issue, but it becomes one when a black man dies.

Go figure. I think Obama, Sharpton and Jackson should rally and take care of the OJ business. Not a one of them bothered with that, nor did they bother with Casey Anthony's little girl when it comes to justice.

Can't say I'm surprised. This country is becoming more and more bigoted every single day.

a HUGE problem and has been now for many years. And, God help you if you bring that one up yet, if there is a black, Hispanic and white person for the same job, I guarantee who will NOT get the job. That isn't what I heard or been told, that is what I have lived. I had a boss tell me years ago, I was passed over for a job because the higher ups had a formula for who should get a job if all seem equal to the task. It sure as heck wasn't white.

I had a job in the past where I was in charge of hiring. I was looking for an extra secretary to add on to our team and was TOLD by the Department of Labor that I HAD TO hire a black person plain and simple. Now, is that even in the least bit fair? If two women come in for the same job, but the white person is more qualified, I must hire the black one to create a "balance"?? How in the world does that make sense? Many black people have such a feeling of entitlement, because of the past discrimination against them, but nobody today lived that life, nor did I. I never owned a slave, I have never told a black person they couldn't come into my establishment, I have never mistreated one, so I don't feel like I should have to pay for what went on before I was even born!!!!

I remember even back in the 1970s when I worked in an office. They were doing lay-offs because of financial troubles, and there were a few people (black and white) who were NOT pulling their weight. And guess which race did NOT get laid off.

The two of that race who did not get laid off were always on their high horse about racial discrimination. Hardly--they had a sweet deal. They did not show up for work on time, they did not do their work effectively, they were CONSTANTLY feeling entitled to more of this and more of that, and they could not be fired no matter what they did.

It really made for a bad work morale.

Honestly, this slave stuff goes back 200 years. In the 60s things were getting much better in terms of being allowed in clubs and such, working decent jobs, etc. By the 70s, they were more entitled than us white folks, whether they deserved it or not, etc., etc.

I don't feel I owe ANYONE an apology or need to treat ANYONE differently because of something that took place with their ancestors. It is so ridiculous that this country tiptoes around this and lets black people play "victim" for things that happened before they were born.

People say black people aren't treated "equal" and I agree. They are actually treated BETTER than other races at this point. They have more organizations to help kids through college (BASED ON SKIN COLOR ALONE) they get jobs (BASED ON SKIN COLOR ALONE) and the get more government benefits, which I cannot say for sure is based on skin color. Just imagine if we were to start a college fund called the "White Folks College Fund" and have sponsors of famous white actors/artists, etc. This would be yet something else that black people could protest and the supporters would probably be kicked out of Hollywood.

They would be black-balled out of Hollywood. Very few actors/actresses can admit they're republicans. Only a chosen few are able to come forth, you know---they have to become big enough and powerful enough to "come out of the republican closet." Like Charleton Heston.

It is time to give black people some pride and allow them to do things on their own merit. We have allowed them victim status. Jesse, et al, have really denigrated the race, IMHO, more than anyone, by making them feel that they can't get things on their own merit. I personally would feel NO pride if someone handed me a scholarship based on my color.

He is the first black president and he was voted in to office by ALL races, not just black people. I thought he would at least be the one to stand up and point that out. Just because we don't necessarily like the decision of the justice system, it doesn't have to make this a race issue. I really don't think it was anything to do with race, but black people ALWAYS threaten to protest and do protest when something doesn't go their way.

I know that when Obama was running for president the first time, many black groups were already preparing for a protest if he didn't win. It's like these days everyone is saying "we should all be treated equally" but on the other hand, it's like "don't make the black people mad, we will protest, we will whine and whine and whine until we can figure out how to get our way"

You are ASSuming that black leaders won't help you. What is your cause?

In case you may not remember the black people have needed leaders for years. Jesse Jackson was part of the MLK movement. Remember when black people could not enter certain establishments or use the same bathrooms? They were not considered "worthy" or equal to the white person who made the rules.

What is your problem really? If I had an issue as a white person I would call a white leader, I would not call on a black leader to help me unless he was an elected official being paid by tax dollars.

I'm sorry that Trayvon Martin is dead. I'm even more sorry that George Zimmerman is going to have to live with what he did for the rest of his life, but the jury rendered its verdict, like it or not. Only 2 people know for sure what happened that night and one of them is dead and the jury believed the other one. Time for the general public to move on and time for the protestors to get a life or a job or something so they aren't clogging up the streets.
