Yesterday a right-leaning website called Twitchy ran a picture of George Zimmerman in a suit and tie next to what they claimed was a picture of Trayvon Martin with no shirt and sagging pants. Twitchy is owned and operated by Michelle Malkin, a conservative pundit who is a frequent guest on Fox News. The picture of Zimmerman was real, but the picture of Martin was not.

IMO, they have sunk to an all-time low this time, falling all over themelves trying to discredit a dead teenager who can no longer speak in his own defense and going ballistic over President Obama's very kind and appropriate response last Friday when questioned on the Trayvon Martin case.

about a kid who was gunned down and killed in his dad's neighborhood while walking home from the convenience store. This has zero to do with Obama and everything to do with the fact that the 250-pound stalking shooter who lied to police about his "squeakey clean" record went home after killing a 140-pound high school junior. The corpse was tested for drugs and alcohol, but not the shooter.

This is about the police department which has a history of past racist-tinged investigations and their failure to collect any significant evidence from the crime scene and instead, simply took the word of an over-zealous self-appointed neighborhood watch captain who was not authorized to pack a weapon when serving in that capacity, who deliberately defied specific instructions by the dispatcher to stop the stalking, and who turned out to have a record of assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and domestic violence. It's about that same police department's attempt to "correct" eyewitness testimony from one woman that did not corroborate the stalking shooter's story and to otherwise dismiss multiple similar statements pointing to the perp's guilt.

This is also about the dishonest, swarmy reporting coming out of Fox et al who are determined to compound the family's grief over the loss of their son, total disregard by law enforement and lack of justice in his murder by smearing his reputation while he lays dead and buried in his grave. Awesome job. As you can see, this is about lots and lots of things, but one thing it is most assuredly NOT about is President Obama. Trying to float such an absurd notion is almost as cowardly as the ongoing smear campaign against the dead boy.

In the OP, I provided the link to Twitchy, Malkin's website. There you will find a snapshot of the original posted picture before they removed it because it was, well, FAKE...blurred out face, shorter and a bit heavier than Trayvon. The other link posted in the OP was to an article that had the exact wording of her apology to her readers and to Trayvon's family for posting the FAKE photos, which I find grossly unacceptable.

Might wanna backtrack and read the thread before depositing your next drive-by. As for the 3 suspensions claim, that's worse than fake. It's a figment of your imagination though I am quite sure you had some help from a certain news network who has thus far batted a big fat zero in their reporting on the Trayvon Martin murder case. Now if you have some sort of citation to provide other than Fox or some other wingnut blog currently engaged in this despicable effort to smear the dead boy, by all means feel free to post it.

BTW, we've already heard the Fox allegation about the empty baggy...allegation in the sense that no reputable source has been revealed about where they got that factoid from. I have also heard that his suspension (please note the singular reference) was for 5 days, then it was for 10 days, then it was for being tardy too many times, then it was for missing class, then it was for being in an unauthorized area of the school (i.e., somewhere else besides class during class time), etc, etc. etc. Perhaps you are confusing the multiple speculative reported versions with actual multiple incidents.

The fact is that due to the ongoing investigation and possibility of further legal actions, Trayvon's school records have been sealed, the school has issued no statements, and the family's response has been that the reason for his suspension did not involve violence or criminal activities and that, furthermore, it has NO BEARING WHATSOEVER on the multiple ongoing investigations or whether or not Zimmerman should be arrested for shooting their son. Call me crazy, but I tend to agree with the parents on that score.

We also realize that some may be trying to suggest that only Zimmerman had the right to defend himself but, even though he was being followed/stalked (according to 911 calls and the cell phone conversation), Trayvon did not have the right to self defense since he was suspended for either 5 days or 10 days for either tardiness, missing class, being in an unauthorized area of the school or having an empty baggy in his possession.....and thus he was asking for it and deserved to die, he "was no saint" and Zimmerman was just doing neighborhood watch duty and performed a valuable public service for us all by shooting down an unarmed teen on his way home from the convenience store who was on an undetermined length of suspension for an unknown reason.

When selecting your example, try finding one that involves doctored photos grossly mischaracterizing a recently murdered dead boy, then plastering the image all over creation while grieving parents are going from one end of the country to the other seeking justice for their dead child while the shooter lays low waiting for the whole thing to blow over. Be sure to include law enforcement authorities refusing to follow standard homicide investigation protocols, failing to collect any and all evidence that could either support or discredit THEIR OWN CLAIMS that the perp acted in self defense. For good measure, throw in the officers on the scene completely ignoring their lead investigator's recommendations that they arrest the shooter and charge him with manslaughter, and a murdered corpse that stayed in the morgue for 3 days before the parents were officially notified of his wherebouts and his death.... then get back to us.

Betcha the folks who got up here on this forum in staunch denial that this case is neither racial nor political were among Fox's most ardent fans. Never mind the Stand Your Ground law that allowed Zimmerman to believe the whole thing would "blow over" in few days (his words, according to his best bud, James Oliver). Pay no attention to the right's unflinching defense of the shooter and their efforts to cast racial aspersions, then deny even the remotest possibility that racism played a major role in both the crime and the way the police handled their so-called investigation.

Fox reporting on this consisted of stony silence for weeks. Their initial story lamented their concept of the "real victim" in this crime, the National Rifle Association. Once that approach was ridiculed, they launched into a relentless search for "dirt" on the shooting victim, decrying how unfair the "lamestream media" is being by showing Zimmerman's mugshot from his expunged 2005 assault on a police officer and resisting arrest dalliance next to a photo that reminds us all of how young the teenage victim is. I guess the Fox folks are at a loss when developing a story line without their trusty phone tapping tools, so they had to fall back on their manufactured falsehoods and fake photoshop tactics.
