The "non-autopsy" of Justice Scalia is disturbing.

Posted: Feb 20, 2016

1.  The airport near the ranch where Scalia died is capable of handling Gulfstream size jets.  They could have easily flown the body to Bethesda or some other facility capable of doing the forensics.  A bum who dies on a street corner gets an autopsy.

2.  They drove the body all around West Texas - first an hour in one direction and then three hours in the other direction, first to one funeral home and then another, passing a number of hospitals with pathology facilities.   Why - when there is a funeral home just 30 to 45 minutes from the ranch?

3.  Why didn't they retain any bodily fluids or tissues during the embalming process?

4.  Why haven't we heard from Scalia's private physician, who saw Scalia during the week before his death?

5.  Was there a pillow over his face when he was found, and were there non-livido-related bruises?

I've never been a conspiracy theorist of any sort, but as someone with investigative experience this all just seems highly irregular to me.

It certainly is disturbing and what is more disturbing - SM

is all the down votes you have received. Who exactly are these MTs who believe a very important person can die with a pillow over his naturally. The unadulterated fraud has never been more obvious in high govt and the banks are about to pull the rug out from under Americans. So, who exactly does not want an autopsy on a SC judge, hmmm? Where are your loyalties, hmmmm? The banks????

Don't fault them. - see msg

[ In Reply To ..]
They've been brainwashed and are just walking lockstep behind their leader, who himself shows no respect by his absence from the funeral. To me, this goes down as the most disrespectful thing this so-called leader has done.

More likely a "boy's night" partying and wild women. - Interesting

After all, it was at a private lodge of a Republican (you know "family values").

Who was Scalia's unidentified "companion"?

Washington Post: One of (resort owner) Poindexter’s companies was involved in a case that made it to the high court. Last year, the Supreme Court declined to hear a case involving an age discrimination lawsuit filed against one of these companies, court records show.

The nature of Poindexter’s relationship with Scalia remained unclear Tuesday, one of several lingering questions about his visit. It was not known whether Scalia had paid for his own ticket to fly to the ranch or if someone else picked up the tab, just as it was not immediately clear if Scalia had visited before.
This is the kind of rank speculation that the very - failure to do an autopsy fuels.
[ In Reply To ..]
Not made less rank by the "family values" crack. It's too bad we can't consider this without that sort of thing, but some just can't seem to rise to that level of discourse.
We lives in a time where the leading Democrats are an old socialist - and an old lady under FBI investigation.

Since this is a social media site, I'll take my own advice and not post stupid things, like accusing someone of vile things for fun just because they are in a different political party.

OP suggests some nefarious conspiracy regarding Scalia's death, and when someone cites a reference to an alternative conspiracy, the liberal is of what "immoral"? character. How disingenuous.
I suggest you reread the OP and response. - anon

The alternative conspiracy is fine, however, to throw in an insult to the republican party, you know, the nasty comment about "family values," is what we were referring to as the unnecessary insult.
And if you reread thread you will find comparison to Jerry Springer - and insults

And here is what - his family say about that

[ In Reply To ..]
Justice Scalia’s eldest son, Eugene, called the conspiracy theories surrounding the circumstances of his father’s sudden death a “hurtful distraction,” in an interview with conservative talk show host Laura Ingraham that was posted today.

"It’s, I think a distraction from a great man and his legacy at a time when there’s so much to be said about that and to help people even more fully appreciate that. And, on a personal level, I think it’s a bit of a hurtful distraction for a family that’s mourning," Eugene Scalia said.

Though Scalia said he hasn’t followed the details of the swirling conspiracies, he sought to put those theories to rest.

"Our family just has no doubt he died of natural causes. And we accept that. We’re praying for him. We ask others to accept that and pray for him," he said.

Families don't get to decide whether an autopsy is - necessary or not.

[ In Reply To ..]
Understand that I have no theory about the manner or the means of the man's death one way or another. That's what autopsies are for, and that's exactly why they are performed.

Of course, to any member of the family, the idea of an autopsy would very understandably be distasteful. But whether the family have a high or a low index of suspicion as to how Scalia died is irrelevant, even in the process of a death investigation into what might superficially seem to be the most ordinary and innocent circumstances.

This just isn't how such matters are normally handled.

It does not matter if the family wants an autopsy - if local law believes it is necessary

[ In Reply To ..]
Local law did NOT believe it was necessary. The guy had heart disease and we know as MTs that that is a ticking time bomb, so obviously not a huge suspicion if someone dies at 79 with this.

Also, re the pillow (source NY Daily News):

[John Poindexter told the Daily News he wants to respond to those running wild with his comments earlier this week — that he found Scalia with “a pillow over his head” in his room at the Cibolo Creek Ranch Saturday morning.

With even boldfaced names like Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump raising questions, Poindexter, a Houston manufacturing magnate, said the conservative justice’s pillow was above his head and resting against the headboard of the bed.

“There was a pillow over his head, not over his face,” said Poindexter. “The face was entirely clear.”]

everyone who dies in their sleep?

Autopsy laws vary by state. Some states force them in all deaths; other states allow the families to decide. Some states force autopsies in cases of accidents, homicide, or any other suspicious deaths.

There was nothing suspicious about his death. Let the poor man rest in peace.
Uh, news flash. An autopsy doesn't disturb the "peace" - of the departed.
[ In Reply To ..]
THEY ARE DEAD.

In answer to your question, how do you know he died in his sleep?

Not guess....

Not surmise...

Not believe...think...hope...or speculate.

Know.

There was a time when we knew when we knew something and also when we didn't.

Addendum to my post - I wasnt talking about

[ In Reply To ..]
how the family felt about the non-autopsy; just how they felt about the conspiracy theories surrounding his death.

Maybe because"we" dont need - to hear from his private physician.

[ In Reply To ..]
and the rest of the non-autopsy points are non-issues.

It bothered me as well - anonie

[ In Reply To ..]
I always thought if anyone died as he did that an autopsy had to be performed.

My worry is that someone could have gotten rid of the justice. There are many cases coming up that I can see might have been decided by the justice against the people who brought them to the supreme court.

I plain do not trust the government and I do not trust Obama nor most of the Congress. None of them have proven themselves to be honest and not just in it for a lifetime job in DC.

i also don't trust the gov. as to autopsy, it would have been a good thing to rule out "stuff." you are correct, he likely would have gone against some of the bigwigs in d.c. now with him embalmed and in the ground the truth may never be known until judgment day.

Republicans and Democrats are deeply divided over the proper role of the Supreme Court. President Obama and Democrats favor justices who see the Constitution as a potter sees clay—something that can be molded to achieve their desired results. This has led the Supreme Court to invent rights that are nowhere in the Constitution—like the right to an abortion or to same-sex marriage—and ignore or restrict rights that even nonlawyers can’t miss—like the First and Second Amendments.
