Severe dry skin....

For some reason my feet and hands have all the sudden become very dry, to the point of peeling and cracking. My right foot is the worst and hurts. I've tried every cream I can think of and have been drinking more water. Any suggestions? It looks so nasty.

Twice a year, I go in for a professional pedicure. Not only do they remove all the calluses, but the moisturizers they use make my feet feel moist for days! It used to seem like an indulgence, but I find that my foot hygiene is much improved, and there's less likelihood of cracking. I also use a Ped-Egg (sp?) to maintain heels. In extreme cases, I've also applied Vaseline jelly to my feet and covering with socks before going to bed. For my hands, I just keep applying lotion all day long...

a thick cream lotion on your feet and wrap your feet with saran wrap and put socks on. I like Eucerin cream but I had a friend who used to use Vaseline jelly. Take the saran wrap off in the morning and your feet will be really moisturized. You can do this with your hands too if you need to, just put on a pair of gloves.

Surgeon's Secret works for me for severe dry skin (heels, elbows, cuticles). It's works for the kind of dry, flaky skin that hurts and gets my heels caught on my socks.

The best lotion I have found for all-over dry skin is Gold Bond. Over the years, I've tried every lotion on the market. My son has suffered with eczema since he was a baby (he's 21 now) and says Gold Bond is the only lotion that helps his skin.

My daughter has dry hands in the winter (probably r/t her eczema)and a pharmacist recommended I get some antifungal cream and mix it in with the lotion before putting it on her hands. He said there could be a fungal aspect to it, too, thus the need for antifungal cream. Just a thought...

Aquaphor, though a bit on the expensive side, has been the only thing that's worked in our family - from severely chapped lips to my daughter's eczematous diaper rash as an infant. For her diaper rash I would make a paste out of it with the nytstatin powder the doc gave us. For chapped lips and dry, cracked skin, straight on, or even doing as someone prior suggested and mixing it with the antifungal cream.

It does sound painful. I would check it out at the doctor's office. Have you tried Aveeno Eczema Therapy Lotion? After finding out I was allergic to Eucerin products, this was the only thing that relieved my dry skin.

Any suggestions for severe higher back pain? It's around my left shoulder blade and goes into my chest. anyone else has heard of or perhaps had, needing some input. I know we are not doctors but we hear and type so much that someone might have heard of similar. I've had severe CTS, mostly in the right hand for 20+ years. In recent weeks I have been waking up with severe hand pain, mostly in the middle, ring and little finger so bad I can barely make a fist. Well, we're all pretty much feeling the economic squeeze and I'very decided I need to find a more economical line of skin care products (I have sensitive skin and have been using Cetaphil cleanser with creme de la mer toner and the creme de la mer moisturizing cream for ages). I've never had this before, but on my forehead and spreading to a small part of my cheek, near my mouth and on one side of my nose I've developed seborrheic keratosis. Have a skin tag located on my neck. It was red and inflammed looking for the last couple of weeks. This a.m. it has turned white and is just hanging on by a thin thread. Well, I had my surgery on New Year's Eve, and came away with an 8 cm incision wrapping around my dorsal forearm. I got the pathology back and it was a well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma, 3 x 3.5 cm, all margins clear. I was complaining to my doc about fine lines, crow's feet/smiles lines, and the beginnings of those "marionette" lines (nasolabial fold area) and was inquiring about botox or a filler. I have older (40) skin that is acne prone. I'm looking for a skin product that doesn't over dry as acne products can sometimes do because my skin is older and now wrinkle prone too. Anyone got good skin rash remedies? I've had a rash on my left forearm for several YEARS.... it waxes and wanes, but is always dry and plaque-like.
