Mine is getting worse and worse but don't want to go to the doctor.  Anything you can suggest would be great!

We call it dangling--not a cure by any means - sm

you bend over and dangle your arms towards your feet (some people can actually flat hand the ground in that position, been a while for me, whatever feels comfortable). Stretching that area out relieves some of the pressure. It also helps to have my leg pulled, albeit the doctor usually does that one.

I think the main idea is stretching and relieving the pressure.

As stated before, you need to do stretching exercises. Also, you have to tighten up your core muscles, and the best exercise for that is the plank.

You need to take a medication to reduce the nerve swelling but that doesn't burn a hole in your stomach like ibuprofen. My MD has me on diclofenac, and it has been very beneficial. You can order it from overseas (it is 100% safe; I've been doing it for years).

That's a pain I hope I never have to deal with again. I ended up having to go to the ER one night, and the doc there gave me a prednisone taper. That was about 3 years ago, and I haven't had a problem since and am keeping my fingers crossed!

yes, dangle with feet crossed, then reverse... - yoga

then reverse your feet, other foot in front crossed. dangle. It feels very good and helps with sciatica. I've found personally.

I'm a little late answering, but wanted to tell you that when I was insured I got injections into the spine in the SI areas, which gave me tremendous relieve for several months.

If laying down, putting a pillow under your knees can help immediately. I've had several doctors suggest a small pillow between your legs just above the knee if laying on your side. I tried this and had hip problems from it, but it has helped many. The bending or sitting also gives me immediate relief.

Anyone dealing with sciatic pain going all the way down their leg with tingling in their foot.  Ive had an MRI which showed DDD and a herniated disc but it is not pressing the nerve enough for surgery.  Ive tried epidurals, cortisone shots, ice, Prednisone, lumbar supports, chair cushions, chiropractor, stretching exercises, neurontin, Advil, muscle relaxers, etc. with no relief.  I get some relief standing up but as soon as I sit down its right back. Back Pain......severeFeb 13, 2012
Any suggestions for severe higher back pain? It's around my left shoulder blade and goes into my chest.  I've done the heat and ice, hot bath, Advil, Flexeril, and sleeping in different beds in the house.  Nothing is working and it is literally killing me. Unfortunately I work for a company with very little work so I can't just up and go to the doctor.  Sitting here and working is just too hard when all I want to do is lay down and try to sleep. ...

This is going to be all over the place, but please bear with me. I have to get this out. I've been fighting severe depression since I lost my dad, and that was in 2011. I went for months and months not even wanting to get out of bed, waking up and immediately having a panic attack. Who has a panic attack when they first wake up? CTS And Severe Hand Pain On Awakening (sm)Dec 10, 2013

people admitting to that these days.  The party lacks a candidate that is satisfactory to me.  Romney comes closest, but I don't like him either.  He may be the best option for moderates to reclaim the party.  Are there any other moderates out their that now feel disconnected from their party?  For me, I do feel totally disconnected and do not want to be associated with the radical element of the republican party.  I think I may be an independent now.  My ...

and the use of transparent "code word" insults they'd be really disappointed if we all didn't understand. Contrary to how some in the GOP like to style him, General Powell is a conservative, but despite all the honors and respect he has earned he has the usual non-white conservative's problem with acceptance by today's GOP. He's not leaving, though. Like most of us, he understands that the GOP must change if it is to survive as a major voice in American politics. This ...
