What are some of your favorite hair/skin/makeup products?

Posted: Mar 20, 2012

Right now I am really loving Renpure's hair products.  I've been using their shampoo and conditioner (and have gotten 3 compliments on the health of my hair), but only just recently tried their Argan oil treatment.  LOVE.

As far as daily defrizzer:  I've long been a fan of Paul Mitchell's (smells ever so slightly of green apple), but after many years my bottle finally ran out.  I'd seen a promo of Bumble  and Bumble's defrizz tx in Oprah's magazine, so I thought I'd give it a whirl.  Meh.  Does nothing for me.  I'm back to the PM.  Fan for life.

What about you?

Hair: Organix shampoos & conditioners are my standing favorite. I'll always on the lookout for new sulfate-free shampoos, but always seem to go back to these. Also love pure argan oil (although it smells bad) for hair and for soaking nails. I use grapeseed oil from The Body Shop about every other day - makes my hair incredible soft! Also love The Body Shop's Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter - smells like Play-Do, but sure makes hair silky soft. I also do a treatment with casia obovata (herb) once every couple months.

Skin: Argan oil for hands/nails. Chagrin Valley Soap company's lotion bars - works wonders on dry hands & cracked feet. Also works well for a leave-in hair conditioner - just a tiny bit though. These are the only lotion bars I've found so far that were not greasy or gritty. Also love their bath melts!

Makeup - hardly ever wear it so not sure I have any recommendations, but if I am putting on makeup, must have eyeliner and mascara.

Hair- Aquage color protecting shampoo and conditioner.

Skin I like a lot of the Body Shop bath products and have used several of the body butters. I currently have moringa oil shower gel, scrub and body butter. The small size body butters are perfect to keep on your desk or in your purse.

Makeup - I don't use a lot of makeup either but like Clinique and Neutrogena products. Clinique's A Different Lipstick is my favorite lipstick. It's fragrance free and comes in a ton of colors.

My favorites - Love these products.

For hair, I love Aquage beyond shine. I have to order it off of the internet, since I can't find anywhere that sells Aquage products, so I have never tried their shampoo, but I bet it's fantastic. I usually use TIGI products for shampoo/conditioner.

Skin--I love Clinique moisterizers.

Makeup - I usually buy Clinique, but I recently bought a SmashBox kit with foundation primer, concealer, foundation and powder. I think I am in love. :)

I got a SmashBox lip gloss as a freebie sample. LOVE IT. (nm) - Fixy MT

Oh my gosh, I'm literally a product junkie. I could start my own retail store with the "inventory" I carry on hand, lol!

Hair: Paul Mitchell Super Skinny serum and TIGI Bedhead shampoo and conditioner. I love anything TIGI, even their makeup.

Skin: Creme de la Mer cleanser, toner and cream...Expensive? YES. Worth it? YES, every penny. I even work overtime to afford it.

Makeup: My daily routine is usually Creme de la Mer foundation, NARS Orgasm blush, Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Zero, Chanel "Nude" lipliner and Chanel "Pin-Up" glossamier or Nars Super Orgasm lip gloss, and I have a huge palette of Stila glosses and eye shadows from which I pick a couple of shadows based on what I'm wearing that day.

I *heart* my hair, skin and makeup :-)

I, too, have tons and tons of stuff - Already posted my faves above, but

Since you mentione NARS,I love my NARS cream bronzer. :) I could probably start my own store, too. It drives my MIL crazy the once a year that she comes to visit, when I ask her what kind of products she wants to use. I am trying to be accommodating and all she wants to do is criticize how much money she thinks I spend on hair and skin products.

What Skin Products Do You Ladies Use?Feb 04, 2013
I have older (40) skin that is acne prone. I'm looking for a skin product that doesn't over dry as acne products can sometimes do because my skin is older and now wrinkle prone too. I use neutrogena moisturizer, aveeno dry skin oatmeal bar, and retin A. I only wear foundation maybe once or twice a week (neutrogena). I know it's the products that are causing me to break out because I used to use Rhonda Allison and didn't break out, my skin looked great, however, Rhonda All ...

No More Brittle Hair Or Dry Skin.Sep 20, 2010
If any of you have problems with brittle hair and dry skin, try a shower filter.  The water in your shower is filled with chemicals, minerals, and the same or more amount of chlorine as swimming pool water.  I just purchased an Aquasana shower filter.  In less than 1 week, I have noticed a tremendous difference in the softness of my hair and skin.  It is like showering in pure spring water.  There is no way I would ever go back to using plain shower water again!  ...

Question About Hair. I Am Older And Have Rather Fine Hair But I Do Jan 24, 2017
get it foiled with some color in it.  I have been thinking about a curly perm but I am not sure what kind to get and I would have my hairdresser do it.  I dont want a fuzz ball so I am wondering if anyone here has tried this on colored hair just streaked color.  I want a good perm that would last for a while and have curl to it but not tight.  My hairdresser does not carrying prems anymore and the company they deal with does not sell them either.  They are expensive ...

Luminess Airbrush MakeupSep 30, 2011
I was wondering if any has used the Luminess Airbrush makeup or any airbrush system!! Men And Bath ProductsDec 16, 2010
I was just in our main bathroom upstairs and the shower curtain was pulled open.  There are three guys that use that bathroom, my sons age 17 and 20 and one of their friends who is staying with us age 21.  I counted 9 bottles of product in the bathtub.  I could use a set of shelves in there for them to keep all their shampoo, conditioners, body wash, etc.  That does not even count the products around the sink and in the medicine cabinet for out of the shower.  I think me ...

Has Anyone Tried Any Of The AZO Products, Specifically Go Less?Jul 26, 2017
I have been having a problem with frequent urination. In the past, I would have frequency a couple of days leading up to and a couple of days during my period and then it would go away. Everything would return to normal. Now I’m perimenopausal and haven’t had a period in several months; however, I have been having frequency all of the time. I’m not sure if it is a side effect of menopause or not, but it is driving me crazy and it’s starting to affect my sleep. I have to get up three ...

Anyone Use Jane Iredale Products?Jul 14, 2011
I need some new makeup and my aesthetician is going to start carrying this brand exclusively.  Has anyone here tried it?  It's natural and supposedly all mineral-based but I'm wondering if it's worth the price (it's quite a bit more costly than even Bare Minerals, which in my opinion is getting pretty steep).  Before investing in it, I thought I'd see if any of the ladies here had any first-hand experience with it.  I have sensitive skin and get sebor ...

Skin IssuesFeb 23, 2011
Well, we're all pretty much feeling the economic squeeze and I'very decided I need to find a more economical line of skin care products (I have sensitive skin and have been using Cetaphil cleanser with creme de la mer toner and the creme de la mer moisturizing cream for ages).  I don't know if its because my skin is just supersensitive or so used to these high-end toners and moisturizers that they just go haywire when I try something new and more economic.  I'd bee ...

Severe Dry Skin....Jan 24, 2011

Help With Skin Issue, PleaseJul 26, 2011
I've never had this before, but on my forehead and spreading to a small part of my cheek, near my mouth and on one side of my nose I've developed seborrheic keratosis.  My PCP told me to use a very mild cleanser and hydrocortisone cream x3 daily, but it really doesn't seem to be helping much.  The spots get warm to the touch and itchy and are really getting more and more difficult to cover when I have to go out. Has anyone else had this and found something a bit more he ...

so this morning i exfoliated my face as per my usual routine, but now my face feels so irritated and itchy. i'm not sure if it is from the exfoliant or what but i'm really uncomfortable here. I took an antihistamine thinking that may help if it wasnt because of the product, but it doesnt seem to have helped. I've been drinking lots of water too. What Phrases Just Get Under Your Skin?Oct 26, 2013

Skin Tag AdviceMar 24, 2015
Have a skin tag located on my neck.  It was red and inflammed looking for the last couple of weeks.  This a.m. it has turned white and is just hanging on by a thin thread.  Collar of my shirt(s) keep rubbing against it.  Friend told me to pull it off.  I don't think I can do that.  Put a band-aid over it.  Hesitant to pull it off as I am a diabetic.   Don't have an extra money to go to a doctor.  Anybody else have tihs experi ...

Followup On My Skin CancerJan 11, 2010
Well, I had my surgery on New Year's Eve, and came away with an 8 cm incision wrapping around my dorsal forearm.  I got the pathology back and it was a well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma, 3 x 3.5 cm, all margins clear.  Right now looking at the incision it's hard to imagine that he's correct when he says it will eventually be just a very thin white line.  It looks like someone tried to cut my arm off.  I have to go back every three months for a recheck ...

Question About Rx Skin ProductNov 30, 2011
I was complaining to my doc about fine lines, crow's feet/smiles lines, and the beginnings of those "marionette" lines (nasolabial fold area) and was inquiring about botox or a filler.  He told me I wasn't ready for that yet and instead prescribed Retin A gel.  He said faithful use of this, starting judiciously and then increasing, would provide visible reduction in about 8-12 weeks.  I've heard that Retin A (even the microgel) can be really harsh on the skin ...

Hypothyroidism And Skin IssuesApr 09, 2011
I have hypothyroidism, but not taking any medications.  Part of my problem is my face and skin.  Under my eyes is always flaky (like psoriasis) and I've got pimples that are breaking out all over my face, but they are not like the pimples of my youth (without getting gross about how I used to get rid of them), now when I try to pop them nothing happens and they get bigger and redder and they hurt.  The skin on my face is normal but my forehead is normal to oily and the areas ...

The Skin Rash That Refuses To DieApr 16, 2016
Anyone got good skin rash remedies?  I've had a rash on my left forearm for several YEARS.... it waxes and wanes, but is always dry and plaque-like.  Very similar to psoriasis, but my arthritis is osteo, not inflammatory, so I'm pretty sure it's just some form of eczema.  It's sometimes dry and scaly, sometimes weepy (especially when I scratch too much) and has become scarred as a result. I've tried everything:  Cortisone creams, dry skin creams, ant ...

Ever Have Your Skin Feel Hot And Dry Like Getting A Sunburn, But You Have Been Indoors All DayAug 12, 2010
Ok, this is weird.  Never had this feeling before, but I am getting up in years, so maybe it is just old age taking it toll.    I am sitting in my living room, lights off, 3 fans going.  We are in the middle of a heat-wave. Over 90 degrees outside, heat index over 100, humidity unbelievable.  I live in an old house with old wiring.  We tried window air conditioners, but could only use 1 at a time and only for a certain number of hours before it started blowing fus ...

Okay Ladies, What Kind Of Skin Care Regimen Do You Use?Sep 29, 2011
I looking for a new skin care regimen.  I'm 44 and have a round, chubby face which I used to hate, but now realize it has prevented me from getting a lot of wrinkles.  I have a few fine lines around my eyes and those parentheses around my mouth, if you know what I mean.  I'm looking for something to prevent future wrinkles and to work on what I have.  I have freckles and have sun damaged my skin when I was younger, so my skin is blotchy without makeup. Is There Any Help For My HairMay 01, 2011
I understand as we grow older our bodies change, skin gets saggy, wrinkled, loses elasticity, etc and our hair changes.  What I'm wondering is this.  Is there a product, vitamin, or whatever that can make your hair look younger and healthier.  Growing up I had beautiful hair, soft natural curls that the hairdressers said people would die to have curls that are natural like that.  Now at 51 years old my hair is coarse, and frizzy.  I can find some curls here and ther ...

Dog HairJun 14, 2011
For those of you with dogs that shed (like my Golden), can you share you grooming schedule and favorite brush? I've used to use a rake but found a tool that's cheaper than a Furminator (sp?) and doesn't rip the skin. It's made by Oster and called a Shedzilla. I've been brushing him every couple of days but this time of year, I'm wondering if I should do it more often? I like to do it outside to keep the fur out of the house as much as possible. ...

Hair Falling OutFeb 04, 2012
I am devastated right now.  I had long, thick beautiful hair and over the past couple of months I have noticed a big change in it.  Now it is falling out!  Long strands just letting loose.  At this rate, I will be bald in a couple of weeks and that is not an exaggeration.  It doesn't even look or feel like hair.  It is shriveling up and is very light and falling out!  How and why can this happen and will it stop?  Has this happened to anyone? ...

Help - Need Hair Color FixFeb 01, 2010
A few days ago I colored my hair black.  The box said (and looked like it would be a soft black), and it turned out way blacker than I imagined (if that's possible).  I usually go brown, but the reason I went black was to try to get back to as close as my natural color while the gray is coming in.  I really didn't want to color my hair, however, between the brown I last colored it, the gray coming in, and the "soft" black that was mixed in with the gray I had too many co ...
