Hello: just having a mini breakdown about car problems. My van is in the shop and I have to pay $500 deductible for repairs from an accident.
The real issue though is my sister's and my niece's cars. My sister's car needs about $945 in repairs. My niece's car is basically blown engine an not salvageable. They want help to repair their cars, and I told them no. This is a long story but I can not help them, and it does make me sad but I have my own money woes. My niece is 23 and knew 7 months ago her car was in trouble. She lazed around and did nothing and now has no car. My sister's car is 2004 and 190,000 miles. She is on disability so not out living it up for sure. Her car needs a new computer and fuel sensor. It runs like a champ but won't pass emission testing without the repairs and so cannot renew tags. My son thinks he can do the repairs but parts still cost $300 plus have to still take the car to the dealer for a $100 programming fee; none of which my sister can afford. I paid the diagnostic testing fee of $100 today.
What a mess. My niece is in tears. She is really clueless about life sometimes. She doesn't know what to do. There is NO public transportation in our town. They live half an hour from me, and I cannot be running them around. I wish my niece would have got off her rear end and got a full time job. She works parttime and has bad credit so cannot get a loan on her salary. She could have traded in her car when it was running but no dealer will take it now. She wants me to cosign a loan and I said no.
Sorry for the pity party. I cannot tell the long story of the whole situation but I do feel like I have had to harden my heart on this. I love my family but enough is enough.
