Snow storm

I hope everyone stays safe in the storm that is coming or already has hit some. I'm in Mid Michigan and we are supposed to get about a foot tonight and tomorrow. I'm figuring a snow day for my son tomorrow. Glad I work at home. Hubby has to go to work tomorrow, maybe.

Anyway, I hope everybody stays safe and warm.

My college sophomore commutes 30 minutes and lives at home. They never cancel classes because most of the students live on campus. I am NOT looking forward to the commute today and tomorrow - 2' predicted by Wed. night! Right now Palm Springs would be a wonderful place to be!

I absolutely love the snow. We are supposed to get 15+ inches in SE Wisconsin by Wed. night and could be more depending on lake effect..

Snow in Maine - RLee

My husband and I flew out of Maine on Jan. 21 to go to Florida for 10 days. It was snowing when we flew out and we got 17 inches. We arrived home on Jan. 31 just in time to get ready for this storm. In my area of Maine (central) they are predicting up to 17 more inches. We now have to go out and clean off the deck from the last storm while we were gone to get ready for this one. We had someone keep our drive and vehicles cleaned off while we were gone wo all that is left to clean up is the deck. Our vacation now seems like a dream and we are back to reality!!!! I will be looking at our pictures while on the beach of Florida to remind me it was not all a dream as I sit in the comfort of my home watching it snow. Life in Maine - so we are not panicking, just another winter storm. Hope everyone stays safe on the roads.

We had sleet last night and then it changed to 1-1/2" of snow. When part 2 hits, it's supposed to be all freezing rain. I hope they're wrong.

We had a pop-up storm the other day and unbeknownst to me, my car windows were down! Now I have this horrible sour smell in my car, it is nauseating literally! Hello: just having a mini breakdown about car problems. My van is in the shop and I have to pay $500 deductible for repairs from an accident. The real issue though is my sister's and my niece's cars. So, here in the south, when ever we have winter storm forecast everyone rushes to store and stocks up on french toast infredients (milk, eggs, bread). The grocery shelves will be literally bare. Its sort of bizarre. I always thought it was strange to stock up on milk, eggs, and bread, rather than other things. What do you stock up on when winter weather is forecast? We are having our first plowable snow storm of the year in my section of Maine (6-12 inches). It is really gorgeous. I know I will not be singing this same song in a few months. It just really puts you in the holiday spirit. I am not into winter sports so it makes for a long winter, but always enjoy the snow in the month of December. We got 32 inches of snow today and still snowing. Cannot get out the front door because snow is piled up high. Cannot get out the back door to the elevated porch because snow is piled up high and afraid porch will collapse. Snow shovel is buried somewhere underneath the snow. My little dog wants nothing to do with going outside. Thank goodness she is paper trained!! Calgon take me away . . . ...

I'm so lucky. Our county got the highest, 24-27" depending on where you live. I live in the 27" zone. So in 2 weeks, we have had 34" of snow. Had to laugh at DH. He put the snowblower in the storage shed after the snow last week instead of leaving it in the garage. It was a bit of a hassle to get it back out. He's 6' tall and the snow was up to his knees. His boots weren't [up to his knees]. Poor guy. I made a good hot luch for him, though. ...

Why people hear about snow and freak out and run to the grocery store? I went to get milk and a few other things that I didn't get the other day and it was crazy. I figure as long as I have milk and food, dog and cat food and cat litter we are ok. I know it is not anything compared to what others have received, it is a LOT for this area. We are lucky if we see snow every 5 or so years. It is beautiful though. Huge pot of homemade chili, cornbread and cheese for dinner. Come onnnnnnnn summer!!! :) :) :) ...
