Let's get back to Benghazi. Sandy was a storm.

Posted: Oct 30, 2012

As I predicted, Obama (and his sycophants) would LOVE Sandy because it would take Benghazi off the front page.  However newsworthy Sandy might be, it has relatively little relevance to anyone's decision with respect to the coming elections.  Anyone can collect food, and anyone can fly around in Air Force One looking like the big cheese after a natural disaster.  These things mean absolutely nothing.

The Benghazi scandal, on the other hand, is a thumbnail sketch of the general incompetence of the Obama administration right from Day One.  He was a wet-behind-the-ears piker when he was elected, and he hasn't dried out in the intervening 4 years.  He doesn't have a clue how to be a leader.

And THAT does have relevance to the coming election.

OK, let's. What's new? - grits

...I can wait

Umm...Benghazi itself IS still new - and still important. - How shallow we are!

[ In Reply To ..]
We pride ourselves on being "multi-taskers" but we can't focus on something that happened 10 minutes ago if something else happened 5 minutes ago. That thing 10 minutes ago? Oh - that's old news (read, it doesn't matter anymore)!

Sandy has passed, and now begins the recovery and - rebuilding.

[ In Reply To ..]
We'll turn the lights back on, the water will subside, and we'll rebuild - in many cases, even better than before. In some ways, Sandy will prove to be an economic boom for the impacted areas, with lots of jobs being created.

From Sandy, we'll recover. From Benghazi, not so much. With Sandy, Obama's trying to play the Big Daddy, but he was MIA when it came to Benghazi, and then lied about it.

What's new? Benghazi is new. A natural disaster like Sandy actually isn't anything new at all.
I agree on the jobs, but in the meantime (now) there will be - backwards typist

fewer jobs and more unemployment claims until the rebound. NYC and the surrounding area hit very hard and they can't get around the city. Gas lines are humungous, stretching for miles. Subway underwater. One of the tunnels is underwater.

Where'd all the rats go? Hopefully, they drowned. LOL

Christie and Obama are buddy buddy right now. Don't know how Obama can tell FEMA to abandon the red tape.

Oh, and meteorologists are stating there might be a N'oreaster next Tuesday which will affect the Northeast and affect voting. Oh happy day. The NE better prepare for a tough winter.

BTW, I haven't been here not because I was affected by power outages but because our lights were blinking on and off Sunday and Monday and Monday night, it sounded like we were going to lose our roof with the rumbling from the wind...I barely slept and my bed buddy was a flashlight. Kept my hand on it all night just in case, so needed to catch up on sleep. LOL

Hope everyone else made it okay.

So which is it? - grits

Nobody's forgotten about Benghazi. It happened. The investigation is ongoing; do you have any new information?

You contradict yourself when you ask to swing focus back to Benghazi, and then in your next post crack wise about multitasking. You weakened your own point.
Apparently my point about multitasking zoomed right by you. - Like an RPG in flight. sm

I'm watching how my governor and POTUS handle the storm that has destroyed my state and nearby NYC. I appreciate how both are handling it. Our entire rail system is wiped out here. Our grid could not handle this storm (something Obama acknowledged back in 2007). Maybe he'll get some cooperation on this if he's re-elected.

It all adds up.

Let's keep our eye on the ball. The POTUS will - play very little role in the recovery.

[ In Reply To ..]
The most influential actors when it comes to disaster recovery are Congress (allocating funds), FEMA (distributing block grants to the states), insurance companies and state/local officials, yes. POTUS (whoever he turns out to be), not so much. In fact, the role of POTUS in any phase of a disaster is actually very limited. The system is deliberately designed that way.

Well, since the repub congress has tried very - hard to slash the funds SM

[ In Reply To ..]
for FEMA block grants, I think having Romney as president would be a disaster on top of a disaster, especially since he believes we should let the private sector take over disaster help, relief. How horrifying for our country if that happened. People need to vote for their own interests, not just party. If you think this is a good idea, then bully for you. Anyone who does is foolish.
POTUS isn't out shoveling mud but is our chief administrator. - There's always work to be done. nm

Please. Are you qualified to speak on this? - I am, and I can assure you (sm)
[ In Reply To ..]
...that POTUS plays very little role in the recovery process. In fact, recovery and rebuilding efforts - INCLUDING their "administration" - falls almost entirely to the individual states.

I wish people who know nothing about things wouldn't comment about them, but that seems to be rampant on this forum. I saw a lot of this sort of nonsense when it came to George Bush, FEMA and Katrina.
Oh my. Please, go learn even a little bit about the process. - Hot air just exposes ideologues.nm

And the feds expect a return on them. Everything has a string.

Exactly. I swear, some people will criticize - anything SM

Obama is not playing Big Daddy, he is doing his job as president and, according to repub governor, Chris Christie, he is doing an extraordinary job. Why don't we compare Bush's "good job Brownie" handling of Katrina with Obama's handling of this disaster. The head of FEMA now formerly worked for Jeb Bush in Florida, and he actually has experience. I am so thankful that Obama is president during this unprecedented storm.

If romney was in and did what he said he would, there would be no FEMA, states would be handling this or, even better according to him, the private sector, where profit margins prevail. Can you imagine that? I simply cannot. These "once in a century" storms are happening almost yearly, and we need people at the top who actually care about others and their suffering. If anyone with more experience than me could play out the scenario of the private sector managing natural disasters, I would like (and shudder) to hear it.

Another Storm May Impact The Area Nov 02, 2012
Just in time for election day. It is not out of the question that voters will deal with torrential rainfall and high winds across the Carolinas and portions of Virginia. People heading to the polls in Charleston and Columbia, S.C., Wilmington, Charlotte and Raleigh, N.C., and Norfolk, Va., may deal with the messy weather. Rain and wind could then spread northward across much of the I-95 corridor, including in Portland, Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C., ...

Storm Warning By Billy Graham Jul 17, 2010
I can't put this book down. I had been wanting to review some prophecy connected with recent events like 911, Haiti, earthquakes, hurricanes, economic disasters, etc., but I wanted something of substance.
