Anyone else excited for the 50 Shades of Grey movie?

GRRR!;
Nope - Read 10 pages of the book and deleted it - from my e-reader. Not my cup of tea!

Got a sample on my Kindle - nope

And that was enough. However, reading the 1-star reviews on Amazon was hilarious. Maybe in this case, the movie will be better than the book. I don't think it would take much effort.
My favorite review - Agree with you

My favorite review was the one that liked the "fast delivery on Kindle"! LOL!
I also liked the one that used her Kindle search feature to count the blushing, lip chewing, lip pursing, times the main character said cr*p, and varieties of modifiers used with "gray."
Sorry. Nope - Thought the book was horrible

I'm a fan of erotic fiction, if not necessarily BDSM, but I've read a fair amount of that particular subset. I thought this book was horrible -- incredibly poorly written and not that erotic, honestly.
This series started out as fan fiction for the Twilight series, another bastion of great American literature (end sarcasm).
I really did try to read the fifty shades book. I wanted to know what the fuss was about. There was nothing new or exciting that hadn't already been published before and done much better.

Yes I am too! I've read the first 2 books and trying to find time to read the 3rd one before the movie comes out next year.. lol I don't know if I really want to see the movie though. I have read several books that I loved and then watched the movie and was completely disappointed.. I love Christian Grey's character. Not a real big fan of Anastasia though.
I do agree the books are badly written, however... - GRRR

I just want to see the movie for the obvious shallow reasons. I'm totally obsessed with Charlie Hunnam as CG (SOA fans know who he is!) and Dakota Johnson as Ana, I can see it. I'm just glad it's NOT Kristen Stewart. Hate her! She is horrible and so was Twilight!!
But yes, I'm not a literary critic and by all means never read a book ever (I'm a magazine gal at heart) but I thought I would give these books a shot to see what the fuss was about, and yes they do seem to be written by a 13 year old, the whole inner monologue of "crap" on every page gets annoying. Doesn't she know any other words?
Anyway, IMO the smut factor makes up for the bad writing.
Even if the movie is horrible, seeing CG in all his manly goodness will be worth it.
Kind of like Magic Mike, the story line was hokey but come on, Channing Tatum shirtless made up for it :-)
Much better smut in the world, if smut is what you're after.. - me

The whole Sleeping Beauty series by Anne Rice did the same thing and was much better written.

I'm not sure about the casting choices, though, but we'll have to wait and see. I'm also curious to see how they will handle "the room." I mean, I'm guessing this will have to be a rated R movie and the book was definitely not rated R :)
If you enjoyed reading that, there are much, - L&L

much better books in the fetish realm than that. Anything really popular is typically written at about an 8th to 9th grade level.
not if it's written as poorly as the books - Ayn

Books were poorly written and characters were completely unbelievable and extremely immature. Did NOT give a true depiction of true dom/sub relationships or bondage/S&M lifestyle. Sorry I wasted my time on the books -- No thanks to the movie.
I was excited to see the movie but not anymore... - SAD

When I found out Charlie Hunnam was gonna be CG, I became obsessed with it and imagined him at CG when I read the books. Now that he dropped out, the movie is gonna suck. No matter who the actor is. BOO!

Fifty Shades Of Grey?Dec 28, 2012Hi, has anyone read Fifty Shades of Grey the whole series and what did you think of it? I think my reading tastes may be a little immature for my age. I am 37 years old and most of the time when someone says something is a "great read" I can hardly get into it. I have always, since childhood, loved V.C. Andrews and I absolutely LOVED the Twilight series. So many people wrote reviews on how "immature" the Twilight books were and I thought the movie was quite immature mysel ...
Bust Out The Shades, ObamaJan 20, 2012with the best and brightest of the republicans winnowing down to Vulture and offshorer Mitt "I haven't a clue how the 99% lives" and corruption-personified and vile Newton and his harum, the future looks pretty bright for President Obama. He is actually starting to regain some of that lustery glow he had his first campaign. What a mighty good man.

I'm Watching Old Episodes Of Grey's Anatomy, And (sm)Feb 12, 2015I can't quite figure something out. I know about what happened with Izzy and Denny. At least I know she stole a heart for him, but I don't know how. But my question is, when he was "with" her and she kept telling him to go away, and he kept saying, "I'm here FOR you." did he mean that she is sick and is going to die? Is that why she gave herself a bunch of tests? ...

Beyond Excited!Sep 09, 2011After debating back and forth between the Keurig coffee machine and the old-fashioned stovetop espresso machine, I finally ordered a Bialetti stovetop cappuccino maker. It's so cool...The espresso brews in the bottom "well" and you put milk into the top "well" so it heats up while the espresso is brewing. The fun part is, when it's all ready, when you pour it into your mug, it distributes just the right amount of espresso and milk to make the perfect cappuccino.

I'm So Excited My Son's Getting A Divorce! Aug 21, 2013He's finally had enough of this woman and I don't have to get along with her anymore and he's still young enough that I have the potential for future grandchildren oh I'm so happy! I told him, for you I'm sorry I know you loved her half your life and you're really good friends, for me I'm happy because she's a world class B and I couldn't stand her. So Excited!!! After 24 Years, I May Be Leaving MT Forever! SMJan 18, 2012Please, please, please keep your fingers crossed for me! I applied for a job with my State as a dispatcher, they called this morning and scheduled my polygraph (I know, lol). This is step 5 of about 9 steps but WOW I am almost there!!! According to the person that I spoke with this morning, if I pass the polygraph then I pretty much have the job, the rest is just "routine necessary stuff." I am so excited!!! Rush: The MovieMar 06, 2012This is a transcript of the video someone pieced together of Limbaugh’s diatribe, linked below. For those trying to float the argument in defense of Lush by bemoaning misogynist libs in the media and demanding they “own up,” I offer the following observation, but first let me state categorically that misogyny in the media in any form, regardless of who said what, where, when and why, is unacceptable. As for why some is tolerated as “free speech” an ...
Does Your Child Go To Any Movie You Do?Nov 08, 2009I went to the movies today, a new one that just came out about an overweight teenager from Harlem who was sexually abused by her father and mentally and physically abused by her mother. This movie was rated an R. Several years back it would have not had that lax of a rating. No prude here but the movie was completely filled with the most vile language I have heard in a movie but on top of that simulated rape scenes of the young teen with the father being the perpetrator. I saw many, many familie ...
The Man Behind The Movie VoiceNov 11, 2009Don LaFontaine is that voice we all know so well. He died awhile back (think within the past year or so), but I just found this and thought it to be quite interesting and wanted to share. He sounds like he was a genuinely really nice man.

Dean Koontz/Odd Thomas MovieJan 16, 2013Spinoff of a thread in Politics. Does anyone read Dean Koontz? I *loved* him in the 80s, and even though he's become kind of formulaic, I still have a soft spot for him. I especially love the Odd Thomas series and I'm stoked about the upcoming movie. The casting is kind of (forgive me) odd, (Patton Oswalt as Big Ozzie? mmmkay) but I'm still shamelessly looking forward to it. I'd love to have seen James McAvoy as Odd, but I guess he's too old. ...
Want To Give A Shout Out To A Wonderful MovieMar 17, 2015Real people and some animation. The Disney movie company just keeps churning out wonderful movies. I went to the show because I love bling of any kind, loved the color of Cate Blanchett's hair (really gold) and was totally amazed by the movie and loved it.
