Dean Koontz/Odd Thomas movie

Posted: Jan 16, 2013

Spinoff of a thread in Politics.

Does anyone read Dean Koontz? I *loved* him in the 80s, and even though he's become kind of formulaic, I still have a soft spot for him. I especially love the Odd Thomas series and I'm stoked about the upcoming movie. The casting is kind of (forgive me) odd, (Patton Oswalt as Big Ozzie? mmmkay) but I'm still shamelessly looking forward to it. I'd love to have seen James McAvoy as Odd, but I guess he's too old.

I just finished Odd Apocalypse. Very good, very creepy. Can't wait for the next book and can't wait to see the movie. I hope they didn't mess it up like they did Janet Evanovich's "One for the Money". That was a disaster as far as casting the characters.

It's not how I see him, but I've seen this youngster act and I believe he can pull it off.

I had not heard of this! They're doing an Odd Thomas movie?

I AM OVER THE MOON! Did you read the graphic novels? I've only read the books, not the novels.

I'm seriously like a dorky little kid running after an ice cream truck right now.

PS--what's with the epic meltdown over on the Politics board? Is it over yet?

I KNOW!! I found it totally by accident while I was fooling around on IMDB, and was metaphorically dancing from foot to foot. I adore Odd Thomas (and Christopher Snow, but I digress). I haven't read the graphic novels; I'll have to find them. I don't think I've even read the last book yet.

Baybee, when is there NOT an epic meltdown on Politics anymore? :D I just sit back and ride them out.

LOL, sorry. I can't remember if that was how it was spelled, but when you mentioned Christopher Snow, I got all excited and peed a little, and then I felt compelled to insist we "seize the beer."

I actually liked the Christopher Snow novels a *little* better than the Odd Thomas books, but it seems Dean has chosen to continue the Odd series and not the Seize series.

Which reminds me--did you read...I think it was Odd Hours? Where Odd finds Christopher Snow's

Which reminds me--did you read...I think it was Odd Hours? I'm putting in a spoiler in white  beneath this (I hope), so you can highlight over if you want.

Odd finds Christopher Snow's hat--the one from Fort Wyvern.  I wonder if he is going to have them meet?  Or if that was just a wink at his Christopher Snow readers.

Sorry, I'm getting all nerdy on you here.  But I don't know in anyone in "real" life who has read these books.

At least, I don't think so - it does seem like I remember getting all hopeful for an Odd/Christoper crossover, so I at least saw it somewhere.

I died laughing over your first paragraph. I know the feeling :D And I don't know anyone else who's read them either. I keep trying to get DH to read them, but he's being stubborn.

The Words Of Thomas JeffersonJun 21, 2012
The property of this country is absolutely concentered in a very few hands, having revenues of from half a million of guineas a year downwards. These employ the flower of the country as servants, some of them having as many as 200 domestics, not labouring. They employ also a great number of manufacturers, and tradesmen, and lastly the class of labouring husbandmen. But after all these comes the most numerous of all the classes, that is, the poor who cannot find work. I asked myself what could be ...

Anita Hill/Clarence Thomas--the Good Ol' DaysOct 20, 2010
Wow!  Surprised this has come back from 1991.  My impression back then was that Anita Hill was very level-headed, was consistent and detailed with her story, even though the questioning went on and on and was quite brutal.   Even though I believe he exhibited disgusting behavior, he was still confirmed as a Supreme Court Judge.  What do you think would happen today if it was a similar situation? ...

Clarence Thomas Is Conspicuously Absent In New Black HistoryOct 05, 2016
Justice Clarence Thomas, the second black man to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, is practically absent from the new National Museum of African American History and Culture. Anita Hill, the woman who accused Thomas of sexual harassment, however, is given prominent billing in the museum. The new Smithsonian, which opened in September, gives Hill pride of place in an exhibit on blacks in the 1990s. The exhibit features testimonies trumpeting her courage and the surge of women’s activism th ...
