Scariest movie I ever saw

Posted: Jul 19, 2011

The post is so far down below didn't think anyone would see it.  If you are looking for a good scary movie I highly suggest this one.  It's a creepy creepy haunted house in the woods type movie.  Scared me so much I had to pause it and get my DH because I was to scared to watch it alone.  Here is a trailer.  It's called The Abandoned.

Is that new version of Dawn of the Dead. Zombie movies have always petrified me (I saw the original Night of the Living Dead, the black and white, when I was really young and I think it scared/emotionally scarred me). When they amped those suckers up where they could run in the new DOD, I had nightmares for weeks. Yet, masochist that I must be, I'm still compelled to watch it every single time it's on as if I can give myself fright immunity LOL!

I just watched the trailer - ADB

and it looks pretty scary!!! AND I haven't seen that movie. Thank you so much!!! I will definitely watch that one.

The Woman in Black - Nicole

I saw The Abandoned on cable and didn't think it was overly scary. Being set in Russia maybe I didn't get all of it or didn't identify with it. I saw a movie on A&E several years ago called THe Woman in Black and just thinking about it on a hot summer day in broad daylight gives me the creeps. I am a sucker for haunted house movies and until I saw The Woman in Black the top 2 scary movies I ever saw were The Haunting and The Changeling (with George C. Scott). But The Woman in Black blows both those out of the water! I see now they're remaking The Woman in Black with Daniel Radcliffe from the Harry Potter movies. Much as I'd like to I know I won't be able to see it because if I was terrified by it on TV, I'd probably pass out from fear seeing it on the big screen!

Yay another movie to add to my watch list - ADB

I have never seen the woman in black. It may just be a scary movie marathon weekend this weekend for me!!!

Thanks for that suggestion too!!

OMG - the changeling is another good scary movie - Just remember this one

When the ball bounced down the stairs with no one at the top I got so scared I thought I'd wet my pants. Also the water turning on in the middle of the night. These two by far are the scariest movies I've seen. I'll have to check out the Woman in Black.

Dude! I jumped out of my theater seat at the end of The Changeling - I Loved IT

when they zoomed in on the piano in the burned out remains of the house and the one key went down. I was 13 when I saw it and man it was just all the creepy stuff that got me. That's what these moviemakers today need to realize. It's not the gore, but creepiness and realness that scare people. Like Paranormal Activity! It scared the bejeezus out me too.

The Changeling... - RubySoho

I remember the original "The Changeling", and when I first heard about the Angelina Jolie movie with the same title, I thought it was going to be a remake of the George C. Scott film...good movie, but I still think of the original George C. Scott movie whenever I see that title "The Changeling." CREEPY flick.

and it was on a lot because HBO reruns everything so many times I would get a creepy chill thinking about the scary one! All the things mentioned by the other posters like the ball bouncing down the stairs and the piano string brought the scary all back to me!

I remember two creepy ones... sm - Zorro

The Dark Secrets of Harvest Home (1978 mini series per google)

and

Burnt Offerings (1976)

Both quite scary in different ways...creeped me out when I was 10 and 12......and really stuck in my head.

ZORRO - I am astounded! - RubySoho

My gosh, I thought I was the only one enthralled by Dark Secret of Harvest Home. I even read the book about 6 times (author Tom Tryon). Believe it or not, the book is actually even better than the miniseries, so if you get a chance check for it on Ebay or Amazon or even at your local library.

I remember Burnt Offerings, too...with the big creepy mansion and that black car. I haven't seen it in ages but I'm guessing we must be around the same age. Both classics for our time but that Dark Secret of Harvest Home is AWESOME, both the book and the miniseries!

Oh man! Burnt Offerings scared the crapola outta me when I was a kid. Karen Black just looked scar - SM

Evil eyes I think. Did you ever see that movie about the Zuni (sp?) doll that comes to life and chases Karen Black around her house with a HUGE knife? That one gave me nightmares when I was a kid! What were may parents thinking letting me what stuff like that? LOL

That would be TRILOGY OF TERROR - Circa 1970ish

[ In Reply To ..]
They remade it for USA network a few years ago but it wasn't anywhere nearly as creepy as the original with Karen Black...That image of her transformed at the end, holding that knife and stabbing it into the floor waiting for her mother to arrive for still is still fresh in my mind, LOL! I was really young when I saw it, too, but it definitely made an impression on me!

Scary movie - MTtoo

Rush: The MovieMar 06, 2012
This is a transcript of the video someone pieced together of Limbaugh’s diatribe, linked below.  For those trying to float the argument in defense of Lush by bemoaning misogynist libs in the media and demanding they “own up,” I offer the following observation, but first let me state categorically that misogyny in the media in any form, regardless of who said what, where, when and why, is unacceptable.  As for why some is tolerated as “free speech”  an ...

Does Your Child Go To Any Movie You Do?Nov 08, 2009
I went to the movies today, a new one that just came out about an overweight teenager from Harlem who was sexually abused by her father and mentally and physically abused by her mother. This movie was rated an R. Several years back it would have not had that lax of a rating. No prude here but the movie was completely filled with the most vile language I have heard in a movie but on top of that simulated rape scenes of the young teen with the father being the perpetrator. I saw many, many familie ...

The Man Behind The Movie VoiceNov 11, 2009
Don LaFontaine is that voice we all know so well.  He died awhile back (think within the past year or so), but I just found this and thought it to be quite interesting and wanted to share.  He sounds like he was a genuinely really nice man.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QPMvj_xejg&feature=related         ...

Need Some Movie Ideas For DVD ForMar 25, 2015
Kids! You start on a vacation and no more than 10 miles and they are asking when are we going to be there? I would like some ideas for my friends, nothing sexy, no bad language. I do not need Mary Poppins or that sugary. Thought about Raiders because I loved the movie, read the reviews written by kids and the majority talked against the movie so back to first base. Any ideas? ...

Dean Koontz/Odd Thomas MovieJan 16, 2013
Spinoff of a thread in Politics. Does anyone read Dean Koontz? I *loved* him in the 80s, and even though he's become kind of formulaic, I still have a soft spot for him. I especially love the Odd Thomas series and I'm stoked about the upcoming movie. The casting is kind of (forgive me) odd, (Patton Oswalt as Big Ozzie? mmmkay) but I'm still shamelessly looking forward to it. I'd love to have seen James McAvoy as Odd, but I guess he's too old. ...

Want To Give A Shout Out To A Wonderful MovieMar 17, 2015
Real people and some animation. The Disney movie company just keeps churning out wonderful movies. I went to the show because I love bling of any kind, loved the color of Cate Blanchett's hair (really gold) and was totally amazed by the movie and loved it. I consider it more of a chick show, my friend and her daughter went with me and we all loved it. Check it out for a really good show for kids as well as adults. ...

I Just Watched The Worst Movie In My Entire LifeJan 06, 2010
I am so mad that I actually bought this movie because I heard so many people say how scary it it.  It was not scary at all...not one iota.  The movie is called "Paranormal Activity".  After watching it I got online and see it has won the Rotten Tomato award as did the actress and actor in it (if you could call them that).  It was slow, boring, and the acting was horrible.  Not the reactions one would expect if you have a demon in the house.  Her screaming was so hid ...
