Posted: Jul 21, 2016

Do any of you have any social media or websites you use for support and sistership?

I'm not in danger.   I know I need to leave, but cant right at this time.

I wanted to find some other ladies to talk to who understand.

I was very young, 16 and he was 18, and simply broke up with the person. I had to see him in school every day, and it was horrible.

But yours sounds more complicated--are you living with him and do you have children? Not sure how long you've been with him, but often, the verbal abuse escalates to physical violence.

I would find a chapter of battered women in your area. That would be my first phone call. They can give you guidance and support on your next steps.

I was married to one and he was first verbally abusive and then physically abusive.

It doesn't get any better.

Unfortunately for me, back when I got my divorce, judges didn't believe women and my son went to live with his father only to turn out later as a grown man exactly like his father, especially narcissistic.

I just wish I had gotten out way long before I did. Was married to him nearly 17 years. Son was 9 when I divorced him. He went out on me. Judges are so unfair to women.

Abused wife. - Notanymore

I spent 22 years with a man much like you describe. He abused me in many ways, emotionally, verbally, mentally, financially, sexually, and physically. He isolated me from my family. I consider myself an intelligent woman and yet I did not see that I was being abused until I finally sought help through the YWCA domestic violence counseling. I was shocked to find out that not only was I being abused, but there were many women in the group just like me. We came from all walks of life. We were all different races and religions. We were all just women supporting each other. I will tell you that if you can find a support group that alone will give you the strength to get out and also help you to avoid letting yourself be abused any longer. I wish you well in your quest.

Verbal Abuse...Feb 11, 2010
It's me again.  I had posted this past weekend about my hubbie that didn't ask me to go to superbowl party.  Well I got over that pretty quick.  I have gotten brave enough to ask if any of you live with someone who dishes out verbal abuse to you?  I was in denial for a while, but I believe I need to accept the fact that my husband is a verbal abuser.  He says such mean things and screams.  I was feeding the dogs and let some out of the pen and he said God ...

Verbal AbuseSep 02, 2010
You all seem to have such good advice and I need opinions.  I am separated from my husband because he is a verbal abuser and I finally realized that I don't deserve to be treated this way.  Well, he has tried to change a lot and in a lot of ways he is better but he does have his moments.  I don't think I can get past the past abuse to trust the"new and improved" person.  He says "shame on me" that I don't believe that people can change.  I believe peo ...

Hoarding. Anyone Dealing W/ This?Mar 12, 2012
I love my parents dearly, but they've recently put me into the middle of a situation that I tried to tackle politely before I was ambushed.  They aren't like most folks you see on "Hoarders" or those kind of shows, but they are SEVERE collectors...to the point that a room that used to house a pool table w/ free space around it and multiple pieces of furniture can no longer be negotiated.  They don't toss trash around or anything like that, but they are auction/yard sale- ...

I Am Having Trouble Dealing With My Mean Mom. SMApr 04, 2015
I know it sounds ridiculous that a 40-something woman would whine about her mean mom, but it is really weighing me down.  My daughter and I recently moved in my mother and stepdad.  It was a win-win situation for everyone involved.  I've filed for divorce and no longer wanted to live with my ex was refusing to move out and my stepdad had a knee replacement and then several complications on top of that that prevented him from being able to take care of the several acres they h ...

Anyone Dealing With Milia?Feb 09, 2016
These are lovely little white bumps under the skin that look like whiteheads, but are actually composed mainly of keratin so they're very hard and incompressible.  They kind of look and feel like bird seed.  I started getting these all over my face and neck about year into menopause.  While it's not the worst thing in the world to happen to someone, I thought menopause would be the end of acne and the beginning of somewhat smoother (albeit a bit more wrinkled) skin. &nbs ...

Dealing With Difficult PeopleDec 28, 2011
What would you do? I do need serious advice please. I feel that I have been treated very badly by my mother-in-law for the past 11 years. From the very first time we met when she blurted out the comment, "It is so nice to know my son is looking at the inside and not the outside," right down to Christmas Day when she "implied" that I was stealing something from her in front of the whole family (she loaded all of the food items I brought except for a small tray of cookies, so I grabbed those an ...

Help In Dealing With Extended Family Apr 01, 2010
For years now my husband's sister and her husband have been trying to manipulate the family at every opportunity we are together.  It has become somewhat laughable at time because it's always expected.  At other times it is tremendously frustrating.  They find a way to throw a wedge into the plans even when the plans are bent to accommodate them.  They are never satisfied and cannot seem to go with the flow as the rest of us try to do.  Unfortunately& ...

Anyone Else Dealing With Plantar Fasciitis And Bone Apr 09, 2016
I have had a bone spur for years but it hasn't bothered me until lately.  Went to the orthopedist and yes, there is a bone spur but he thinks the problem is more plantar fasciitis.  Now my heel and arch are killing me when I walk, and just in the past 2 days my ankle and the inside of my lower leg has been aching and very painful.  I can hardly walk, and I found I have to wear my shoes for support even when I am in the house just to be able to walk with less pain.  I nev ...

Anyone Else Dealing With An Ailing Elderly Parent Who Is Difficult?Jul 15, 2016
My mother has terminal cancer.  She wants to continue to live in her home and take care of her finances and medications, but she is on such high doses of pain medications now that she is confused at least half the time.  She gets verbally abusive when we try to convince her to do things differently than she wants...things for her own safety, etc.  The only way to escape it is to do things her way.  She is putting herself in danger of taking the wrong medication at the wrong t ...

One For The LadiesApr 04, 2012
One for the ladies One day my housework-challenged husband decided to wash his Sweatshirt. Seconds after he stepped into the laundry room, he shouted to me, "What setting do I use on the washing machine?" "It depends," I replied. "What does it say on your shirt?" He yelled back, "University of Oklahoma." And they say blondes are dumb... A couple is lying in bed. The man says, "I am going to make you the happiest woman in the world." The woman replies, "I'll miss you..." "It's j ...

LADIESMar 01, 2010
So, I was watching a television show.  I guess it's become the new "thing" for older women to prey on younger men, and the younger men to look for "cougars".  Wondering, how young would you go?  One of the women on the show was 54 (she looked really good, but had a lot of work done...) and regularly dated men in their 20s!  That to me is way to young.  My feeling is, if you're old enough to be a mom or grandmother, best to stick to your age "box".   ...

Okay Ladies! I Need Your Help. For Years I\'ve Been Nov 27, 2010
saying I was going to take up sewing.  In high school home ec class, we had a sewing project and I liked it, but never kept up with it.  My mom can sew on buttons, patches, and hem a pair pants by hand in a pinch, but machine sewing was something she never learned.  Her mother, my grandmother, was the seamstress in the family.  She could make clothes, quilts, you name, she could sew it.  However, my mom just never bothered to learn the skill like my aunts did.  Any ...

Question For The Ladies Regarding PMSFeb 11, 2013
I just have a question.  I just turned 38 years old.  In the past, with my menstrual cycle, I never had "PMS" symptoms, never had cramps or cravings or "attitude" or anything.  I have noticed within the past year that I have become INCREDIBLY cranky just before my menstrual cycle.  I have noted that within the past few months, it is BEYOND cranky.  Sometimes, I am just so aggravated that I seriously feel like I have so much built in anger that I want to punch a wall! &nb ...

These Two Ladies Are GreatJul 29, 2016
Some good common sense and an irate reaction to Trump here, so probably this might be only for those of us who do not like Donald Trump - definitely a liberal cast to this blog, but what the heck I have to skim through those diatribes from the Heritage Foundation and that awful Judge Jeanine, so about time to spread a bit of progressive wealth of knowledge. I have not put the entire post - bear in mind the beginning is very good and will make you laugh out loud, so please read if you are so inc ...

Ah, Love Is In The Air But Ladies, Did You EverFeb 12, 2016
Many years ago I was married and my husband had this thing of leaving, just leaving without any problems going on. No money issues, no arguments, just up and leaving, sometimes for months. I started an on the job affair with a guy, eventually leaving the marriage because the new love was hot, hot, hot! The on the job affair lasted for a year or more, even years later we reconnected for a short period. Fond memories. ...

So....what Did You Ladies Think Of Magic Mike?Jul 06, 2012
I thought the language was a little much....I mean, come on, nobody cusses and uses the F word that much, do they?  Aside from that, I thought the story was cute, and the dancing was pretty hot.  I have never been to a male strip tease show, but I am told that men make more at it than women. It's funny because all of the women in our family, and large circle of friends, went together.  It is really not a good movie for men (even if they were gay).  None of the men, of c ...

What Skin Products Do You Ladies Use?Feb 04, 2013
I have older (40) skin that is acne prone. I'm looking for a skin product that doesn't over dry as acne products can sometimes do because my skin is older and now wrinkle prone too. I use neutrogena moisturizer, aveeno dry skin oatmeal bar, and retin A. I only wear foundation maybe once or twice a week (neutrogena). I know it's the products that are causing me to break out because I used to use Rhonda Allison and didn't break out, my skin looked great, however, Rhonda All ...

Ok Ladies, I Need Your Help. Back At Christmas, My DaughterMay 01, 2012
made me this cute decorated mason jar filled with dry ingredients.  They made it at church as a gift project and it came with an accompanying recipe card that explained how to combine the dry ingredients with some wet ingredients and make some sort of sweet treat.  Problem is I lost the card and I cannot for the life of me remember what it is supposed to make.  I remember something about unsalted butter and that's it! Anyway, in the jar it looks like there is white chocolate ...

Okay Ladies, What Kind Of Skin Care Regimen Do You Use?Sep 29, 2011
I looking for a new skin care regimen.  I'm 44 and have a round, chubby face which I used to hate, but now realize it has prevented me from getting a lot of wrinkles.  I have a few fine lines around my eyes and those parentheses around my mouth, if you know what I mean.  I'm looking for something to prevent future wrinkles and to work on what I have.  I have freckles and have sun damaged my skin when I was younger, so my skin is blotchy without makeup. SUBOXONE ABUSE By BFJul 04, 2010
It seems I always find the men that either had a drug past or currently has one.... so this is one of those things.  My BF is a polysomnographer and had to take his certification/registration test this past week.  He took this before and failed, apparently this test is the hardest out there (maybe like the CMT LOL!!!)  Anyways, he had always taken these pills called Suboxone and I have transcribed this, but never looked into what it was.  These pills are about $60 for 2 of th ...

Abuse Of PitbullDec 14, 2015
This evening on our local news they aired a video taken by a neighbor, showing a man holding a Pitbull by the chain while repeatedly bashing the dog in the head and face with all of his might.  The dog and one pup were taken from the home by our local shelter where I volunteer.  With a little luck, maybe tomorrow I can talk to the humane officer to see if I can determine the man's punishment.  He would wear the same chain while having the life beaten out of him.  Th ...

Question About Healthcare & Possible Abuse. SmMay 16, 2011
My sister-in-law is in her mid 50's and not in good health; however, much (granted not all) of the problem is her lifestyle choice.  She smokes at least a pack a day, she is sedentary to the point of using a lift chair, motorized scooter & cane to get around, she is at least 100 pounds overweight and her knees are problematic for her as there is too much weight on them. She had a nervous breakdown about 30 years ago after a bad breakup, and then about 10 years later she got d ...
