Anyone else dealing with plantar fasciitis and bone

Posted: Apr 9, 2016

I have had a bone spur for years but it hasn't bothered me until lately.  Went to the orthopedist and yes, there is a bone spur but he thinks the problem is more plantar fasciitis.  Now my heel and arch are killing me when I walk, and just in the past 2 days my ankle and the inside of my lower leg has been aching and very painful.  I can hardly walk, and I found I have to wear my shoes for support even when I am in the house just to be able to walk with less pain.  I never wear shoes in the house.  Doctor suggested using a bottle of frozen water to roll my foot on, as well as continue to take the pain meds I already use for bilateral knees (need to have them both replaced as they are bone-on-bone).  Is there anything else that I can do to make this tolerable?  I even have to put on my shoes to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.

My plantar fasciitis was as bad as yours, both feet. These help me tremendously (sleep in them). I call them my magic slippers. ;)

I sit and rub my foot, ankle, and leg while I'm not working. I am just sitting here getting ready for work and my foot is aching like crazy. I'm willing to try anything right now.

Again, thanks for the site.

good luck! nm - bad feet

I have had to wear indoor shoes for years now. - sm

I got rid of my plantar fasciitis by wearing a supportive shoe with a cushy heel in the house 24/7. I also did the rolling of my foot back and forth on a soup can. It took approximately 2 months for the pain to go away.

To prevent it from coming back, I wear Crocs thongs in the summertime. They have a cushy heel and my feet don't hurt. In the winter, I wear Clark's sandals (with socks so my feet don't get cold).

I used to wear slippers all the time indoors. I don't anymore. As far as the middle of the night, I keep the Crocs or Clark's at my bedside and slip my feet into them very easily.

Good luck!

I've never worn Crocs and never heard of Clark's - but then I normally only sm

wear shoes once or twice a week when I leave the house so my shoes last me years and I haven't shopped for any in a while. I've seen Crocs. Your Clark's, is that a name brand? Where can they be found? I'm always afraid I'll trip on the carpet when I wear shoes in the house.

Clark's are good, but also - try

Sketchers. I love the Sketchers "Go Walk" series. Clark's are the brand name (the link is below), but they are sold at most shoe stores that carry good shoes. Easy Spirit are also a good brand.

I know how you feel. I had this problem twice. It got so bad I could not walk at all. I tried all sorts of home remedies and cortisone shots. The only remedy for me was foot surgery. I had MAC anesthesia for my surgery. I had heel spurs on both feet. Thankfully this happened at different times. I hope you find relief soon.

Plantar FasciitisMar 30, 2010
Just recently I have been experiencing symptoms that would fit this diagnosis.  My father also has the same problem.  I have watched stretching videos online and have begun to incorporate those as well as ice and rolling my foot around on a tennis ball while I work. Luckily it is my left foot.  I also take ibuprofen every day. Any other suggestions that may have worked for you?  I really do not want to visit a DPM or PT unless absolutely necessary.  I saw the Strassburg ...

New MT Graduate-fell At Work-broken Bone!Aug 28, 2011
New graduate-MT- I fell at work tripping over  a plastic carpet runner, resulting in a broken bone in my shoulder.  Was still in the process of testing for part time employment, so guess this will have to wait 6 weeks or so. Hoarding. Anyone Dealing W/ This?Mar 12, 2012
I love my parents dearly, but they've recently put me into the middle of a situation that I tried to tackle politely before I was ambushed.  They aren't like most folks you see on "Hoarders" or those kind of shows, but they are SEVERE collectors...to the point that a room that used to house a pool table w/ free space around it and multiple pieces of furniture can no longer be negotiated.  They don't toss trash around or anything like that, but they are auction/yard sale- ...

I Am Having Trouble Dealing With My Mean Mom. SMApr 04, 2015
I know it sounds ridiculous that a 40-something woman would whine about her mean mom, but it is really weighing me down.  My daughter and I recently moved in my mother and stepdad.  It was a win-win situation for everyone involved.  I've filed for divorce and no longer wanted to live with my ex was refusing to move out and my stepdad had a knee replacement and then several complications on top of that that prevented him from being able to take care of the several acres they h ...

Anyone Dealing With Milia?Feb 09, 2016
These are lovely little white bumps under the skin that look like whiteheads, but are actually composed mainly of keratin so they're very hard and incompressible.  They kind of look and feel like bird seed.  I started getting these all over my face and neck about year into menopause.  While it's not the worst thing in the world to happen to someone, I thought menopause would be the end of acne and the beginning of somewhat smoother (albeit a bit more wrinkled) skin. &nbs ...

Obama Has Not Right To Tell Scott Walker To Bone Up On Foreign PolicyApr 08, 2015
He hasn't done a good job at foreign policy himself. In response to Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s criticism of his Iran policy, President Obama suggested that the presumed candidate for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination “bone up on foreign policy.”   In other words, anyone who disagrees with the president on Iran’s nuclear program, or any other national security issue, is just not knowledgeable enough to understand. Of course, there is a very ...

Dealing With Difficult PeopleDec 28, 2011
What would you do? I do need serious advice please. I feel that I have been treated very badly by my mother-in-law for the past 11 years. From the very first time we met when she blurted out the comment, "It is so nice to know my son is looking at the inside and not the outside," right down to Christmas Day when she "implied" that I was stealing something from her in front of the whole family (she loaded all of the food items I brought except for a small tray of cookies, so I grabbed those an ...

Help In Dealing With Extended Family Apr 01, 2010
For years now my husband's sister and her husband have been trying to manipulate the family at every opportunity we are together.  It has become somewhat laughable at time because it's always expected.  At other times it is tremendously frustrating.  They find a way to throw a wedge into the plans even when the plans are bent to accommodate them.  They are never satisfied and cannot seem to go with the flow as the rest of us try to do.  Unfortunately& ...
