at 9 p.m. central time with 19% of the polls reporting walker now is leading with 61% of the vote to 39% for Barrett.  Each senate race is about the same; republicant roughly 60% and democrat roughtly 40%.

NBC and Fox have called this one for walker. as of now 26% of the vote is in. all races are going republican. AP also just called it for Walker, too.

Big unions - Conservative

[ In Reply To ..]
Why does no one ever complain about the millions of dollars the unions spent, or the millions the unions brought into Wisconsin from out of state, or the protesters the unions paid to protest against Walker? Sounds like a bunch of sore losers. People making far less than these union employees that have to pay for their benefits are getting sick of it. Unions are still making far more and have a meatier benefits package than the private sector in Wisconsin. Where I live, the unions are raking in on average more than double the salary of the average private sector jobs that have to pay for them. They were asked to pay 5% of their health care and they went ballistic. We are running out of money, making far less than the unions, paying for their benefits, and the unions continue to beat the horses pulling the load. Anyone with any financial knowledge at all knows these top heavy union packages can no longer be supported by the average American worker and frankly we are getting sick and tired of paying for their wages/benefits and then not beingn able to afford anything for our own families because of it. Not to mention the union waste, strong arm tactics and thuggery. Before the flamers start, I was part of a union for years and they did nothing for me at all except take my money.

Big money bought this election. The writing is on...sm - VTMT

the wall, the SCOTUS ruling in favor of super PACs and corporations is distroying our democracy. It makes me sick to my stomach.

I know that this is bad and will contribute to the decline of the U.S. I am close to retirement and hopefully will not have to compete in this dog eat dog, corporate rule by whimsy and greed, too much longer. When I think of my neighbors who voted for Walker, I will not be shedding any tears for them when they might need a little help from the public sector some day. I hope they are truly as independent as they claim to be.

that's a great phrase - and sadly true! - nm

"I made a wrong mistake."

Yep. No two ways about it. Recall did - what it needed to do

[ In Reply To ..]
and my new favorite WI GOP senator is Dale Schultz, a moderate who had the utter audacity to vote his conscience on the budget and mining initiatives. In response the cons launched an unsuccessful effort to eat their own. Their initial recall drive failed, but they have vowed to try again after the round 2 June 5th recall vote.

Along with the 50-50 senate block, more than likely Schultz will continue his evolution into Wisconsin's own version of dear, departing Olympia Snowe, who unfortunately is retiring this year. This should help keep further damage from Scottie's "moving foward" (gag me) at bay for the time being. One can only hope these level-headed moderates do not end up being moved from the engandered to the extinguished species list.

I too feel slimed by these developments and need a time out to regroup, but won't be washing my hands, at least not until after November.

Yes...it is much better - duh

[ In Reply To ..]
to go bankrupt because there isn't enough money to pay for pensions. Or it is much better to have fewer policemen and firefighters, etc. because we have to use more money to pay for pensions, etc.

There is no perfect answer for this situation but when a state is struggling and taxpayers are fed up paying more and more to support public unions....well...something's gotta give.

So many say big corporations bought this election...but it isn't like the unions didn't try to buy it too. This crying and whining about corporations and their greed is rather hypocritical as unions are about the greediest bunch of thugs in existence.

Greediest? - I think not

[ In Reply To ..]
Really the unions are the greediest bunch? Did you know Obama and the Democrats proposed a 0.5% tax on income only after the first MILLION to save 400,000 teacher, fireman and policeman jobs yet the GOP and their rich bosses would not agree? So instead the ones making the "shared sacrifice" were the ones who dont even make $100,000.

Until ALL the other people who do not even make $100,000 see that there is something VERY wrong with the balance of this "shared sacrifice" meme NOTHING will change in this country for the average joe.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, between 1979 and 2007 incomes of the top 1% of Americans grew by an average of 275%. During the same time period, the 60% of Americans in the middle of the income scale saw their income rise by 40%. Since 1979 the average pre-tax income for the bottom 90% of households has decreased by $900, while that of the top 1% increased by over $700,000, as federal taxation became less progressive. From 1992-2007 the top 400 income earners in the U.S. saw their income increase 392% and their average tax rate reduced by 37%.[13] In 2009, the average income of the top 1% was $960,000 with a minimum income of $343,927.[14][15][16]

In 2007 the richest 1% of the American population owned 34.6% of the country's total wealth, and the next 19% owned 50.5%. Thus, the top 20% of Americans owned 85% of the country's wealth and the bottom 80% of the population owned 15%. Financial inequality was greater than inequality in total wealth, with the top 1% of the population owning 42.7%, the next 19% of Americans owning 50.3%, and the bottom 80% owning 7%.[17] However, after the Great Recession which started in 2007, the share of total wealth owned by the top 1% of the population grew from 34.6% to 37.1%, and that owned by the top 20% of Americans grew from 85% to 87.7%. The Great Recession also caused a drop of 36.1% in median household wealth but a drop of only 11.1% for the top 1%, further widening the gap between the 1% and the 99%.[17][18][19] During the economic expansion between 2002 and 2007, the income of the top 1% grew 10 times faster than the income of the bottom 90%. In this period 66% of total income gains went to the 1%, who in 2007 had a larger share of total income than at any time since 1928.

I live in Vegas and the unions need to go! - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
They are the most corrupt, greedy, and selfish entity there is! North Las Vegas has been at the mat with the police and fire unions to reach a compromise of no raises for three years so they won't have to lay anyone off. They must by law have a balanced budget by June 1st. The unions stood their selfish ground so the City went ahead and did what they had to do to balance their budget without the union's agreement or concession in order to avert financial disaster. I work in the legal field as well as MT and I tell you, these pensions and disability retirements are bogus! These are what are killing us as The People!

Unions and the casino industry here are killing our state. They control everything so the citizens like you and me have no chance to get ahead and no chance for our schools. Really sad.

This Is What I See Coming For WisconsinMar 17, 2011
I have copied and pasted something someone wrote that pretty much sums up Scott (slime) Walker's intentions.   Diane Ravitch has it in a nutshell. Of Scott Walker, she writes: He expects that over time, most public workers will stop paying dues, especially now that they have to pay more for their healthcare and pension benefits. And thus will he cripple, perhaps permanently, a perennial political opponent. If Gov. Walker succeeds, there will be no organized voice to oppose hi ...

I spent the last few hours reading it (I really hate legalese-LOL) then did a search on collective bargaining. I did see where they wanted to tie raises to the CPI but can't find it now. Anyway, the pages that I found CB in the search are: Pgs. 955-964, 998, 1045, 1061, 1312, 1332-1334. So, tell me where they are stripping collecitve bargaining from the unions.
