Is anyone else just looking forward to the election being over?

I live in Canada and pay a lot of attention to our more populous neighbour to the south, but I can't understand how anyone can stand election campaigns going on for months/years. Ours are generally 6-8 weeks at most.

I know I'm sick of it. The presidential election is very important, but I feel like it's been sensationalized and the candidates are just caricatures of themselves a lot of the time.

Hello neighbor! Yes, I've had enough. My answering machine gets clogged with robocalls, and my mailbox gets stuffed with campaign ads every day. I live in Ohio, so if you are following, you know that we are being bombarded here. Anyone ever see a book called Motel of the Mysteries? That'll be me by the time this thing is over with.

I have at least 4 phone calls a day now, but have been getting at least 2 calls a day for over 3 months. I cant stand it. Sometimes a digital voice, sometimes real person...

I now let my 3-year-old grandson answer the phone. He talks to the digital voices, repeats what they say, and I laugh. When it is a live person, its SUPER FUNNY!

I also dont understand why they spend all that money on mailings! This country is in a serious deficit. If either one of them decided, "I am not going to spend a dime on advertising myself, I am going to take all of that money and put it toward the deficit" well that would get my vote for sure!

How about we take ALL the big private money out of elections and only allow limited public funding to be spent in the immediate months or weeks before the election?

We can put the new full-time election industry out of business even faster than it was created. And we REALLY need to.
