Why Obama won the election...

THE COW AND THE ICE CREAM

ONE OF THE BEST EXPLANATIONS

OF WHY OBAMA WON THE ELECTION

--From a teacher in the Nashville area

"We are worried about 'the cow' when it is all about the 'Ice Cream.'

The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year...

The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest.   I decided we would have an election for a class president.

We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.   To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members.  We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.   We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.   The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids.

I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental supportI had never seen Olivia's mother.  The day arrived when they were to make their speeches.  Jamie went first.

He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best.  Everyone applauded and he sat down.

Now is was Olivia's turn to speak.  Her speech was concise.   She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream."  She sat down.

The class went wild. "Yes! Yes!  We want ice cream."   She surely would say more. She did not have to.  A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream?  She wasn't sure.  Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it.  She didn't know.   The class really didn't care.

All they were thinking about was ice cream.

Jamie was forgotten.. Olivia won by a landslide.

Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and  52 percent of the people reacted like nine year olds.  They want ice cream.

    The other 48 percent know

they're going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess."

This is the ice cream Obama promised us!

Remember, the government cannot give anything to anyone --

that they have not first taken away from someone else......

I really cannot understand how or why people think that the craptastic thugs in our government are not as "corrupt" as Bush or ANY.OTHER.POLITICIAN.

Because they are not? - NJ

Let's get some prospective here please.

Almost everyone drives over the speed limit at times. Bush drove through downtown at 100mph.

To suggest all politicians are like him is to liken every speeder to that one that went through a populated area at 80mph over the limit.

They are worse - jm
[ In Reply To ..]
If Bush was going 100 mph, Obama is doing 300 plus.

The OP was correct.

All politicians lie to the people to get their votes. This administration is no different and actually is even worse.

Congress and the administration and the gazillion czars have got to go. Obama can stay in just get rid of everyone else.

The top of the list to go - Pelosi, Axelrod, Rahm, Reid, and Soros (whether or not he has a position, he needs to go).

Washington is so utterly corrupt and it wasn't just Bush/Cheney. It's continuing on in this present situation worse than the crap we had before them. We now have Capone and his thugs in charge.
Disillusioned - NJ

I can't fathom the bitterness of people who say anything or anyone is worse than Bush/Cheney. It must come from the shock and disillusionment of knowing one voted for the worse president ever. Twice.

It's coming to realization that the man you voted for is a con man.

From tripling our deficit in 3 months, continuing on a war but not supplying the supplies and manpower they need, not being transparent, making his race an issue, and the list goes on and on and on.

Every time he speaks he lies. This is not bitterness or disilluisioned. It's called disappointment.

Thank goodness it will only be one term.

Everyone who was with me in the euphoria of "The One" being elected now also talk about the disappointment and hurt he has brought. I know hundreds of people who said if he told the truth about what he planned for the country they would not have voted for him.

The only thing I feel good about is that I am among hundreds and thousands of people who were dooped and sorry they voted for him, so at least I am not alone.
But speeders are speeders, are they not? Both broke the law no matter - Sheeples
[ In Reply To ..]
which situation. I find that argument disingenuous and a "straw man," if you will. To say that one law breaker is somehow "worse" than the other is, well, weird.

Here are some facts on Axelrod. I've posted them before. The government is so tied into his personal investments/affairs, it's silly. And I know, someone already posted in the past, "Well, the President should use the people that he knows. However, that statement needs to cross all partisan lines or it's again...silly.

"Critics of President Obamaâs health-care overhaul are zeroing in on his senior adviser David Axelrod, whose former partners at a Chicago-based firm are the beneficiaries of huge ad buys â now at $24 million and counting â by White House allies in the reform fight.

The unwelcome scrutiny, largely from Republicans, comes at an inopportune time as Obama seeks to shore up support for health care reform. It revolves around two separate $12 million ad campaigns advocating Obamaâs health care plan that were produced and placed partly by AKPD Message and Media, a firm founded by Axelrod that employs his son and still owes Axelrod $2 million.

A separate firm, GMMB, is also handling the campaigns. Both AKPD and GMMB did millions of dollars of work on Obamaâs presidential campaign, continue to tout their connections to the campaign and still maintain close ties to his inner circle.

The two firms were hired to make the health-care ads by a pair of linked coalitions supporting Obamaâs health-care overhaul proposal â Healthy Economy Now and a newer offshoot unveiled last week called Americans for Stable Quality Care.

The Associated Press reported this month that Healthy Economy Now paid AKPD and GMMB to produce a $12 million national ad campaign echoing White House talking points supporting the health care overhaul.

And a spokesman for Americans for Stable Quality Care, which essentially supplanted the now-defunct Healthy Economy Now, confirmed that it is using the two Obama-linked firms to produce and air a separate $12 million ad campaign launched Thursday designed to shore up support among the conservative House Blue Dog Democrats and to target swing senators. The ad, which is airing in a dozen states, is the opening salvo in a campaign planned for this fall that will cost tens of millions of dollars more.

I'm a realist as well. We are talking about the law. - Sheeples
[ In Reply To ..]
To further the straw man here, what if that person driving 5 miles over the speed limit hit a kid and killed him, but the driver going (I wont say 80 over because that's not possible in most cases) say 30 miles over and just gets a ticket...who is worse?

Both sped, right? Is it the effect of said speeding or the speeding itself? Both broke the law and both with different consequences. One could have been the other on that particular day.

Call it karma, choices, the spinning of the earth, what have you.

Good Lord, who do you think is paying Halliburton who has lost billions of unaccounted for money and still gets no bid contracts. They cannot account for the money we have given them already (in the billions) and we just shrug our shoulders and give them more. That is corporate welfare which everyone seems to think is okay. That, my dear, cost a lot more than all the social programs put together. Do you like giving the oil companies over $4 million a year in welfare when they profit in the billions? Well you do. Thanks for your post - apparently it is LOST on so many that Haliburton et al might as well be showing up at our doors to rob us - that's how DIRECTLY we are paying for that corruption.

Just wondering about the $4 mil figure - in welfare - is this correct - seems low.
