If this is the Wisconsin Bill they passed, what's wrong with it?

Posted: Mar 10, 2011

I spent the last few hours reading it (I really hate legalese-LOL) then did a search on collective bargaining. I did see where they wanted to tie raises to the CPI but can't find it now. Anyway, the pages that I found CB in the search are:

Pgs. 955-964, 998, 1045, 1061, 1312, 1332-1334. So, tell me where they are stripping collecitve bargaining from the unions. Fair question.

That is a fair question and I wish I didn't have to go back to work right now - or I would love to look through it

Thank you for posting that. I hope to get back over here later today and look through it. You have asked a fair question. :)

The Bill - mbmt

The link for Walker's bill is below. The part about collective bargaining is in the first paragraph under Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau.

If you type Wisconsin news in your search, you will also see numerous references to Governor Walker signing a bill that essentially strips most collective bargaining rights from public employees with the exception of police and firefighters.

Then you have the "riders" that come along with the bill, and those scare me - nm

Republicans Voted On Wisconsin Bill Anyway...Mar 10, 2011
The verbiage in this article is astounding.  The Dems held the government hostage as much as they accuse the Republicans of.  All this rhetoric about attack on the people of Wisconsin...what a load of hooey.  They act like there is not a person in Wisconsin who is NOT a public worker.  What about the REST of them???  The ones that have to foot the bill through their tax dollars??  And all the unions/Dems can do is try to whip up the old class warfare crap.  Wha ...

What Are Your Thoughts On This Bill Being PassedDec 15, 2011
could now be in even greater jeopardy of being arrested and imprisoned indefinitely, with no right to a trial?  Pretty scary.  And note, this is neither a Repub or a Dem issue, this is an issue that goes against the Constitution.  Apparently at the last minute, it's being realized that language was taken out of the original bill, clarifying that US Citizens could not just be swept off the streets and imprisoned without due justice and a trial.  Now the ABSENCE of that pa ...

The House Passed The Spending BillMar 06, 2013
Republicans passed it. Democrats were against it because it still included the $85 billion sequester dollars.  "The Senate isn't going to accept this bill," Senate Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said during debate.  Despite Democratic complaints, the House passed the bill easily in a 267-151 vote in which 53 Democrats supported it, likely because it will help avoid a government shutdown. Just 14 Republicans voted against it. Dems wanted Sequester, now they don't! ...

Senate Passed Financial Reform Bill About An Hour AgoJul 15, 2010
I must go look at it now that it passed. There were stipulations that didn't rein in Wall Street but one article I read stated it does that.   "The Senate passed the financial overhaul package in a final vote Thursday, ending more than a year of wrangling over the shape of the landmark legislation. The focus now shifts to the monumental task of implementing the new regulations over coming weeks and months. The 60 to 39 decision came just before 3 p.m, only a few hours after Democr ...

Today The House Has Passed Their 40th Bill Against ObamacareAug 02, 2013
Before going home for a month of vacation for summer recess, the House has passed their 40th bill to repeal or dismantle Obamacare.  Fortieth bill!  Why?  I guess because they thought that was a good use of taxpayers' money, passing yet another bill that would go absolutely nowhere, and maybe that the Democrats had just overlooked the first 39? Yes, of course they know it's a waste of time and money, but they are willing to spend all that time and all that money to ...

This Is What I See Coming For WisconsinMar 17, 2011
I have copied and pasted something someone wrote that pretty much sums up Scott (slime) Walker's intentions.   Diane Ravitch has it in a nutshell. Of Scott Walker, she writes: He expects that over time, most public workers will stop paying dues, especially now that they have to pay more for their healthcare and pension benefits. And thus will he cripple, perhaps permanently, a perennial political opponent. If Gov. Walker succeeds, there will be no organized voice to oppose hi ...

I'm guessing this may get some of our friends on the left fired up. Here you go. It sounds like the kids are actually the winners here. Scott Walker proposed a budget bill that would curtail the collective bargaining powers of some public employees. Miller predicted catastrophe if the bill were to become ...

Budget To Be Passed (hopefully) Apr 21, 2010
By Walter Alarkon - 04/20/10 08:50 AM ET Senate Democrats have written their budget resolution so they can pass jobs legislation using reconciliation, the controversial process used last month to move healthcare reform. The resolution does not specify what specific jobs measures could be covered, and does not explicitly allow for the use of reconciliation rules to pass energy legislation or the extension of George W. Bush-era tax cuts set to expire at the end of the ...
