What areas do you plan to visit? Do you like woods, water, shopping, sports. About when are you coming?

Visiting in 3 weeks - td

Plan to fly into Minneapolis and then head to western and northern Wisconsin, but that is flexible, and that is around the end of June. Prefer woods, water, nature stuff. Thanks!

If you go into Minneapolis, you could head up north - toward Copper Falls and Ashland. SM

Too bad you're not going further east, Door County is beautiful this time of year and probably already booked. Kayak tours through the caves are great. Catamaran sailboat tours on the lake are really excellent. There's a nice little county park with a fenced wooden overlook built into the cliffs so you're standing directly over the lake itself.

LOL. Northern and west you wanted. Copper Falls is great. See if you can get a boat ride tour out on the lake, should be able to find something out of Ashland or Superior. See if you can get on a lighthouse tour available in the Apostle Islands, http://www.travelashlandcounty.com/activities/lake-superior/

I did a google search for the phrase "northern wisconsin tourism" or "northern wisconsin tourist attractions" or "ashland, superior wisconsin tourism" or "western wisconsin tourist attractions" and see what you like.
Thanks! - td

Stillwater is just out of Minneapolis on the scenic St. Croix River, paddleboats, riverboats and bed and breakfast facilities. LaVyrle Spencer, the best selling author lives here.

You might want to meander up north or jump on to interstate 35 for about 2 hours to Duluth. Duluth is the beautiful westernmost shipping port on Lake Superior. You can go to canal park and have lunch outside and watch the ships come in and the lift bridge go up and down. There is a large sandy beach to walk in Park Point and large mansions. You can tour the Glensheen mansion and grounds where the infamous Congdon murder happened. There are beautiful parks, waterfalls, lighthouses, etc. in the area. The Rose Garden will be in full bloom then, I believe. Concerts at Bayfront Park and a large 4th of July fireworks display.

Depending on your cup of tea, you can go up the North Shore hitting Betty's Pies and Sven and Ole's Pizza. The scenery is worth the trip all the way Grand Marais. Hiking paths, biking paths, boat rentals, etc.

If you want to live on the wild side, go up to Ely, Minnesota, near the Boundary Water canoe area. There is the International Bear Center and the Wolf Center to visit. You might be able to swing around and see some iron mines--my young nephews love to see the huge equipment. Not sure what might be open to viewing now, though.

After you do all that, you can swing through northern Wisconsin--Cornucopia to Bayfield--wineries and apple orchards. The apple dumplings with rum sauce are to die for.

Split Rock Lighthouse - Traveler

[ In Reply To ..]
On the North Shore there is a State Park - Gooseberry Falls and the Split Rock Lighthouse is near there. There are many really nice clean rest areas on the highways in Minnesota and the attendants are helpful. There is one just outside of Duluth called Thompson Hill with a beautiful view.

I did note that many of the rest areas in Wisconsin had signs not to drink the water.

What a disgusting excuse of a man.  This is the 2nd time he has killed big game illegally and claimed he did not know  he did.  How about luring him with a piece of meat, shooting him and then hunting him for 40 hours, and then finallly killing hiim?  He should be in hiding, which he is.  Got caught in 2006 and was punished with a 1 year probation and a $3000 fine.  Guess he thinks he is above the law.  Really?  Going to shoot a protected l ...

I Want To Be A Vikings Fan, Not Have Minnesota's WeatherFeb 06, 2010
So, as per my somewhat routine insomnia, I got no sleep last night.  I went to lie down this morning and heard my husband get in his car.  Then I heard him get stuck.  It took both of us at 5:30 a.m. almost 40 minutes to shovel all the snow and get his car out of the driveway.  Then, he got stuck at the bottom of the street.  Thankfully, a very nice neighbor heard him and came up with his plow, got him unstuck, and plowed the way for him all the way to the main road ...

This Is What I See Coming For WisconsinMar 17, 2011
I have copied and pasted something someone wrote that pretty much sums up Scott (slime) Walker's intentions.   Diane Ravitch has it in a nutshell. Of Scott Walker, she writes: He expects that over time, most public workers will stop paying dues, especially now that they have to pay more for their healthcare and pension benefits. And thus will he cripple, perhaps permanently, a perennial political opponent. If Gov. Walker succeeds, there will be no organized voice to oppose hi ...

I'm guessing this may get some of our friends on the left fired up. Here you go. It sounds like the kids are actually the winners here. Sweet.  Union curbs rescue a Wisconsin school district "This is a disaster," said Mark Miller, the Wisconsin Senate Democratic leader, in February after Republican Gov. Scott Walker proposed a budget bill that would curtail the collective bargaining powers of some public employees. Miller predicted catastrophe if the bill were to become ...

If This Is The Wisconsin Bill They Passed, What's Wrong With It?Mar 10, 2011
I spent the last few hours reading it (I really hate legalese-LOL) then did a search on collective bargaining. I did see where they wanted to tie raises to the CPI but can't find it now. Anyway, the pages that I found CB in the search are: Pgs. 955-964, 998, 1045, 1061, 1312, 1332-1334. So, tell me where they are stripping collecitve bargaining from the unions. Fair question.    http://legis.wisconsin.gov/2011/data/AB-40.pdf ...

Republicans Voted On Wisconsin Bill Anyway...Mar 10, 2011
The verbiage in this article is astounding.  The Dems held the government hostage as much as they accuse the Republicans of.  All this rhetoric about attack on the people of Wisconsin...what a load of hooey.  They act like there is not a person in Wisconsin who is NOT a public worker.  What about the REST of them???  The ones that have to foot the bill through their tax dollars??  And all the unions/Dems can do is try to whip up the old class warfare crap.  Wha ...

Wisconsin Business Received Letter From Union Threatening BoycottApr 01, 2011
This is what the unions are up to lately. I think it's ridiculous. This is a free country and they are threatening to boycott businesses that do not put their signs in the store supporting the union. They are out of control.  So now they apologize....is that supposed to make everyone feel better?    UNION GROVE - Local union members apologized to business owners Thursday after hearing union leadership threatened to boycott businesses.
