Wisconsin Election Goes To Recount

Posted: Apr 6, 2011

I wonder if it will take weeks or months.

I thought Klosser was supposed to win hands down.

Interesting spelling--just to clear that up. - sm

Prosser won a nonpartisan February primary with 55 percent of the vote, while Kloppenburg finished second out of four candidates with just 28 percent. Prosser, with his Koch brother/corporate backing, was favored to win. Which makes Kloppenburg's win all the more amazing.

I think the fact that this race between Prosser and Kloppenburg (she is ahead by a little bit) is so close shows that many people in Wisconsin are not supportive of what has been going on in Wisconsin with Governor Walker and the Republicans.

When I was at city hall yesterday, I had a little run-in with some Tea Party people who were asking people to sign petitions for recall of Democratic Senator Jim Holperin. They asked me to sign a petition for recall and I said no way would I do that. Needless to say, they were not happy about it. I watched for a little bit from afar, and nobody else seemed to want to sign the recall petition either...lol.

What is shows me is just about as many are - supportive as aren't.

[ In Reply To ..]
about the same as it has been through this whole thing.

It shows me she made a 30 point gain in 6 weeks - because of overreaching t-party
[ In Reply To ..]
Prossers corporate cronies out spent Kloppenburger by 2 to 1, and she made a 30 point gain in 6 weeks. Scott Walker's replacement even went to a Democrat. About 20 counties flipped from red to blue. T-party is toast!
Let's examine what you said...She made a - 30-point gain in 6
[ In Reply To ..]
weeks due to union influence and the gains came in the large metropolitan areas that are strongly union favoring.

Scott Walker's replacement is also in heavily union supporter area...which he actually took from a Democrat last round. Not surprising he would lose. No one is taking that one seriously as any kind of referendum.

Outspent 2:1...think again. Wisconsin teacher's union PAC:

WEAC PAC Spending - Consistently #1 in all elections - far surpassing all other PACs combined ($11,449,803 since 2000 - All on Democrat candidates.).

19 counties "went red to blue." How many of those are counties that were originally blue but went red during the mid-terms?

Let's wait for the recount, and wait for 2012 national elections to see who's toast.

By the way...Obama carried Wisconsin handily...guess who got 800 million in stimulus funds, 700 million of which went to unions? AHEM. Corporate cronies indeed.

Kloppenburg backing - icedT

Where did Kloppenburg get the millions of dollars for the campaign? Oh yeah, union dues (much of that being tax payer money). If you are going to call out the Koch Bros, you should probably note how much the unions dumped into the campaign too. Come on, fair is fair.

Either way, isn't is just sad the amount of money spent on these campaigns? Just imagine that money going to help the poor or vets. Instead, the poor people of Wisconsin were inundated with TV and radio ads.

I just hope this doesn't turn into a long and dragged out recount battle. The lawyers are probably licking their chops now, praying for a long legal battle.

She got her backing from people like me, and I'm not in a union - nm

how much - nh
[ In Reply To ..]
she got her backing from people like you? How many millions did you pour into her campaign? You know she didn't win without big union bucks pouring in, don't you? Can't win without money; that is the sad reality. Money talks, citizens don't.
And how many TV ads did you buy? lol - nm

Thats cool! - I am going to try work on local campaigns. nm

You do that...but don't be registering dead - people and kids too young
[ In Reply To ..]
to vote...lol.

Well.....there was voter fraud in Wisconsin - before...wasn't it 2008..?

[ In Reply To ..]
when the police special investigative unit found that there were more than 1000 votes counted than people voted, and that was just in Madison County. Oops. There is only a200-vote spread on this one.

At fault here is the issue that was raised a few days ago...Wisconsin has the same-day registration law..you can register and vote at the same time. Talk about voter fraud paradise.

I heard it got pretty ugly with the mud slinging as well.

It does make you wonder with only a 200-vote margin...with all the money the union threw at it...

Perhaps they will find the same thing in the recount (fraud). Reports are surfacing on the net now about cases.

We shall see. The jury is out until they do the recount.
LOL! Whenever a Republican loses it is voter fraud - Who makes the Diebold machines?
[ In Reply To ..]
They should learn to be losers more gracefully.
Ummm....the fact remains, they DID find - voter fraud in 2008....
[ In Reply To ..]
so your drive-by means nothing. And the Dems screamed voter fraud when Bush won his second term and recounted the recounts and he still won. So Democrats also scream recount when they lose. It is not a party thing.

LOL yourself, dear. Check your facts before you throw stones.
Graceful losers....hmmm...you mean like the - Dem senators who ran
[ In Reply To ..]
like rats instead of staying to vote and losing gracefully? Your hypocrisy is SHOWING.

This Is What I See Coming For WisconsinMar 17, 2011
I have copied and pasted something someone wrote that pretty much sums up Scott (slime) Walker's intentions.   Diane Ravitch has it in a nutshell. Of Scott Walker, she writes: He expects that over time, most public workers will stop paying dues, especially now that they have to pay more for their healthcare and pension benefits. And thus will he cripple, perhaps permanently, a perennial political opponent. If Gov. Walker succeeds, there will be no organized voice to oppose hi ...

I spent the last few hours reading it (I really hate legalese-LOL) then did a search on collective bargaining. I did see where they wanted to tie raises to the CPI but can't find it now. Anyway, the pages that I found CB in the search are: Pgs. 955-964, 998, 1045, 1061, 1312, 1332-1334. So, tell me where they are stripping collecitve bargaining from the unions.
