Romney as hero

Posted: Jan 13, 2012

Media massagers out in full force transforming Mittens into a hero for kicking middle class to the curb and walking off with millions.  The fact that a fella born into luxury and spent entire life enriching self at expense of others says it all.  When one is born into wealth, there is the luxury of choice - to protect wealth and accumulate more or to improve life for others. Mittens clearly chose the former. He has spent his life in lovely homes specifically located to separate himself from interaction with the un-wealthy.  He has NO IDEA what life is like for people who worry about their fuel bill or hospital bill.  Mark my words, vote for his guy and reap what you sow.

I am a lifelong Republican, but I am so discouraged by the choices, I don't think I will be voting.

I frankly do not understand the lack of enthusiasm for Huntsman. He may not be ideal, but seems like a reasonable, experienced and ethical fellow.

I agree w/your opinion about Huntsman. - mthead

From what I've heard and read, though, a lot of Republicans view him as too moderate. I voted for Obama last time and was going to sit this election out, but if Huntsman was the nominee, I would vote for him. I hope he at least gets some consideration for VP this election cycle.

I love Huntsman. And I'm a lifelong democrat. - me

Maybe next election. He's still young.
One can only hope. I know it is dumb to base - mthead

my opinion on one soundbite, but his "country before party" quote really resonated with me. I later saw an interview with his daughters and they said something to the effect that "that's just the kind of guy he is." I don't know too much about him, and the media isn't covering him too much, but I'd like to see more of him. I wouldn't say I'm a lifelong Dem (more like a left-leaning Independent these days), but I've never voted for a Republican in a presidential race. I vote all over the map on the local level. He is the only guy in either party I can muster any enthusiasm over.

Romney as hero - Sounds like Obama description

Okay I've got to say first I don't like MR AT ALL. I think he's a sleezy politician (IMHO). I don't trust him. That's because of his record. He was laying off people, families lost jobs, homes, etc because of him and he ended up getting rich over it making millions living in his mansions. Granted I have nothing against the rich (hope to be one one day), but nothing against them if they make their money the honest way and not at the expense of others AND not caring about it. The guy just creeps slime (again that is my opinion along). But there is no difference because neither of them care about the little people (me that is and everyone I know). Getting rich off of the working classes hard earned money, people losing their jobs and homes and not caring. No difference. They both lie and they both don't care. If you cannot see that it is just very sad.

But truth be told the same people are running the same groups. They choose who they want in. We just have to live with the outcome.
There is a difference - OABO
[ In Reply To ..]
Our systems corrupts everyone in politics but there is a difference. Trying to get health care for more Americans, keeping Social Security and Medicare solvent, are not insignificant goals. Working to get some regulations on the financial industry also tops my list. If you think MR would put that one on his agenda, think again. Obama may not have been as vigorous in his pursuit of reform as I would have liked but if some of the Tea Party loonies are replaced in 2012, things may be different.
difference - OABO - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Obamacare not about health care - read the bill. Social security and Medicare are not insignificant goals; however, Obama has not listened to 1 single idea presented by anyone other than himself. As for your comments about the Tea Party loons, you obviously have not watched, read anything about the OWS loons that Obama andn Pelosi praised. In my city, they crapped everywhere, had sex openly for all to see (including children), lived like pigs, did not bath, stopped honest people from getting to work, held up traffic, stole, robbed and murdered and left nothing but destruction in their wake. THE TEA PARTY DID NONE OF THOSE THINGS. Hate to see any choice supported by OWS....speaking of MAJOR LOONS.
Sure, all the tea party did - was try to shut down the government
[ In Reply To ..]
Now there's a lofty goal.
Shut down govt - OWS
[ In Reply To ..]
Pretty sad commentary on your lack of knowledge. Not the purpose of the tea party at all. I guess in your world it is okay for the likes of OWS to crap publicly, have sex in open/public forums, keep those of us making a living from getting to work, murder, drug dealing, overdoses, multiples arrests and literally destroy private, as well as public property. Maybe if it had been YOUR property, you would sing a differnt tune. NO TEA PARTY EVER BEHAVED LIVE THOSE PIGS HAVE...YES, I SAID PIGS.
And just who do you think should shut down the government? - you need to do more research
[ In Reply To ..]
First, no matter what you have read in the tabloids, the tea party never tried to shut down the government. The tea party is trying to hold people responsible. When government runs wild and doesn't follow the laws/constitution someone has to hold them responsible. It is the duty of every citizen of this country to do just that. In the military we took an oath to protect the constitution against all enemies "foreign and domestic".

So while you sit down watching the dumbing down shows not caring if laws are broken by the representatives in your party, there are others that do care.

Personally I think the tea party is silly. The citizens that truly care about the country didn't need to form another party, because now what it has done is opened the gate to the neocons. Parties are meaningless anymore. All the parties are good for is dividing the country. There is no difference between Bush and Obama, no difference between Clinton and Bush, no difference...period.
All the tea party did- - was try to shut down the government
[ In Reply To ..]
What country do you live in? At no time did the tea party ever try to shut down the government. Shut downs loomed because Obama, Dems in senate/house with complete reign (of terror) never bothered to balance the budget in 3 years. Guess they were too busy planning their "Mad Hatter" parties and jetting off for $4-million dollar vacas. Get your head out of the sand.
Seriously?? - allrightythen
