Fort Hood Hero Says President Obama

Posted: Feb 13, 2013

Three years after the White House arranged a hero's welcome at the State of the Union address for the Fort Hood police sergeant and her partner who stopped the deadly shooting there, Kimberly Munley says President Obama broke the promise he made to her that the victims would be well taken care of. "Betrayed is a good word," former Sgt. Munley told ABC News in a tearful interview to be broadcast tonight on "World News with Diane Sawyer" and "Nightline." "Not to the least little bit have the victims been taken care of," she said. "In fact they've been neglected." There was no immediate comment from the White House about Munley's allegations. http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/fort-hood-hero-obama-betrayed-victims/story?id=18465024;

"Survivors of the incident at Fort Hood are eligible for the same medical benefits as all servicemembers," said Little. "The Department of Defense is also committed to the integrity of the ongoing court martial proceedings of Major Nidal Hasan and for that reason will not at this time further characterize the incident."

I'm not sure what more they want. If it is characterized after the trial as being combat, they'd be eligible then for additional compensation. At the moment, it's a workplace incident, so their post-service benefits are different than they would be if it was combat-related.

Also, OP, please be aware that the previous GOP admin, - despite its hypocritical noise about

"our heroes" betrayed them by cutting back care and effectively abandoning all of them it could after they were no longer available to be used. We have two close friends, career combat soldiers, and their stories are horrifying. Once you're designated as leaving the service, you're turned over to specialists and attorneys whose job it is to hustle you out with as little expense to the military, now or in future, as possible. The military can match any corporation for reinterpreting the fine print, producing new fine print you never saw and can't understand, releasing soldiers just before a promotion goes into effect, producing reasons to block promotions, etc. The switching and cheating they're famous for when enlisting kids in the Bush administration was institutionalized to its max and continues right up to the bitter end for "our heroes."

One of our career soldier friends, a middle-aged sergeant major, nearly got tossed out of the VA hospital where he was receiving treatment for a wound from Afghanistan for practically making an avocation of advising the younger guys around him not to sign the papers being pushed at them, not to agree to anything, not to be pushed out of the service while they were still unwell, that in effect (my words) that war was over, but now they had a new one to fight.

This is the attitude and system President Obama inherited from the party that used to style itself as the patriotic one. Whatever happened to all their expressions of patriotism, BTW? You never hear them from pubs any more. Did the hypocrisy become too heavy for even them to ignore?

She's qualified to comment - - she was there

Judge Rules Fort Hood Jihadist Aug 22, 2012
I have to admit, the judge's reasoning makes sense: "Forced shaving is not a novel concept in the military,’’ military attorneys said in the judge’s response filed with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. ‘‘Army regulations expressly authorize nonconsensual haircutting and face-shaving for recalcitrant incarcerated soldiers. … If the judge has authority to bind and gag a disruptive accused (soldier), then certainly he has authority to forcibly shave (Hasan).’’ ...

Fort Hood Heroes Finally Get RecognitionApr 10, 2015
Much to the dismay of the Muslim in the WH, the Fort Hood terrorist attack committed by a Muslim is finally acknowledged for what it was: A terrorist act, NOT workplace violence. (Can you even believe we ever had to hear the words 'workplace violence' in this situation?) And the heroes are FINALLY being acknowledged with Purple Hearts, again to the dismay of You Know Who! That, to me, is one of the most despicable acts I've seen in this WH. ...

Wife Of Fort Hood Victim Still Fighting BackOct 02, 2012
This is another thing I find unbelievably disgusting...these soldiers were wounded and killed by a fellow soldier who admittedly was in contact with Anwar al-Awlaki. Obama should be ashamed of himself for this lack of consideration for our boys. Remember how he treated the incident at a speech (read last paragraph).    On November 5, 2009, Staff Sgt. Shawn Manning was shot six times by Maj. Nidal Hasan while he was serving on-duty at Ft. Hood in Temple, Texas, in what becam ...

I'm thinking of relocating from New England in the next 1-2 years.  My father and stepmother lived at Del Turra for over 20 years, and I visited every year and really liked the place.  My father predeceased my stepmother, and she left the house to her niece, so I was out of luck there.  Anyway, does anyone in the area know of over- 55 manufactured home developments they could recommend?  I'd even consider a condo if the price was right.  I don't want ...

Jobless Rate Looks Nice--until You Look Under The HoodOct 07, 2012
I hope this wasn’t posted before. If it was, sorry. I don’t like to duplicate other posts. Democrats seized on the Labor Department’s report Friday that the unemployment rate in September fell to 7.8 percent, dropping below 8 percent for the first time in 44 months. So surprising was the decline that it set off speculation among some conservatives about a cooked-booked October surprise. That’s not remotely likely as playing with the numbers to influence the election wou ...

Isn't Anyone Outraged Over The Ft. Hood Shooter Still Receiving His Salary?Aug 07, 2013
Who was the idiot who decided this was a workplace incident instead of terrorism? He's collecting $7,000 a month until he is found guilty, yet our wounded and dead get NOTHING, not even a medal for bravery. It's disgusting. I think he wants the death penalty so he can have his 72 virgins, but I don't think we should accomodate him. Let him rot in military prison. The government has spent four years and $5 million to guarantee Hasan is given an airtight trial that concludes with ...

Did President Obama Know About The VA Problems?May 19, 2014
It's being reported that the president knew about the problems at the VA since 2008, and so he should since he is Commander in Chief.
