Please keep the posts about issues

Posted: May 7, 2013

I'm seeing many posters going after other posters.  Please keep your discussions to political issues.  Stop making posts personal, assuming things, telling posters they are not credible, that they are crazy or wear tin foil hats or are trolls.  If you have a personal grievance against another poster settle it off the board.

Are you saying we may not discuss the credibility of a source or story?

no, actually, you didn't - sm

You responded to my post, but you didn't answer the question.
Yes I did - Moderator - sm

I have asked posters numerous times not to ridicule posters. I never once said to any poster you cannot discuss a story or source.

What that means is discuss a story a source or an issue. Leave out the personal insults directed at posters. If anyone has a personal grievance with a poster and feels the need to insult them take it off the board.

What that means is discuss issues, but don't ridicule individual posters. What that means is don't come on the board and ridicule or make fun of posters. What that means is do not make fun of posters or insult them.

If you don't agree with someone's source just explain why. There is no need to insult or ridicule poster. What that means is calling them names, telling them they are stupid, they wear tin foil hats, they are trolls, they are uneducated, they are hateful, etc etc etc.

I did answer your post before, so I hope this is better clarification.
I did not say anything about not being able to discuss a source or story. I asked that you not ridicule posters.

Well it looks like I'll be changing my moniker again - Bob Loblaw

I posted and used the word "YOU" in response to a poster regarding their opinion (it was their opinion, after all, so I don't see how crediting it to them is offensive, and if you really want offensive, check out the original opinion) as well as "good job," and within minutes my post is edited. Amazing.

Yet, after numerous reports regarding (insulting) spelling policing (a clear no-no listed on posting guidelines), they still remain.

I like this one: "Your spelling is as loser as your views."
http://general.mtstars.com/346005.html

Here's another: http://general.mtstars.com/346276.html

The report message groupies I find irritating and hence will be changing my moniker, but I do find it difficult to understand the inconsistency in editing/deleting. I understand you're busy, but sometimes it does seem strange how some posts get addressed not only with lightning speed but also somewhat unfairly.

Toodles all,
Bob Loblaw

I will miss you. You are intelligent and funny, WITHOUT any attacks on other posters. You are engaged and make good points.

the right whines, the left get edited/deleted; the left asks why, the right accuses the left of whining. Look at this thread. It's nothing but smack talk from the right - smack in the moderator's face - right after she asked it to stop.
.........and the beat goes on........... - Give it a rest (sm)

I understood the moderator's post perfectly well. It appears to me just from reading these responses that it is the left who are the whinebaggers.

Your angry post was going after a specific poster. - Moderator -sm

[ In Reply To ..]
After I've asked posters a dozen times not to make posts personal you still went after them.

Stop singling out posters in angry and accusatory fashions. Stop making posts personal. Stop yelling out the words "you" this or "you" that and doncha think. There was no reason for you to go after a poster and I've asked posters to stop.

If you can't discuss issues without singling out posters yelling at them then just skip the post and move on.

Trying to clean up the board. Discuss issues and leave out personal accusations.

My post was not one made out of anger, rather disgust - Bob Loblaw

Please see the original post by LM as well as my first followup. This what it says:

"MSNBC and the others should be forced (sm) - LM
to show the picture of Chris Stevens being dragged through the streets - I just saw it on Drudge and it's just absolutely disgusting. "

As you can see, LM would like to force MSNBC as well as other media outlets to show pictures of a man being dragged through the streets (his murder), a picture which LM found "disgusting."

This is LM's opinion, LM's idea, LM's words. If I am writing a response to LM about this idea/opinion/words, I'm not allowed to say you? Or was it the caps that were a no-no? These were added, BTW, in order to redirect the post (see LM's followup answer summarized below). If we are allowed to report screaming caps/emphasis caps on here and they will be addressed by you, great. I'll keep that in mind. Anyhow, I personally found the idea of forcing the broadcast/publication of pictures of a man's death just to satisfy some squeaky wheels in extremely poor taste... disgusting as a matter of fact. I could not imagine losing a loved one in such a horrific way and then having to witness it over and over again every time I turned on the news or opened a newspaper.

My followup of "Just curious, did Drudge show pics of family and friends reacting to seeing pics of Chris Stevens being dragged through the streets? Disgusting is right. " was met with a rant about Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, and a "dead son's balls." Not going to copy and paste again, but the post is still there for all to enjoy. Also, if "balls" is acceptable to use on here, that's good to know too.

Since LM brought up the idea in his/her original post of forcing media outlets to post pictures of man's death, I don't think I'm wrong for questioning why. It's my opinion that the only reason why the idea was brought up was to get in yet another dig on the "lamestream" media. LM is free to dispute this in a followup post.

There was NOTHING wrong or angry about my post that was edited. IDK how else to react to an idea I find in very poor taste and very disturbing.

Her interesting post was responding to a specific poster - perspective is everything, I guess...(?)

[ In Reply To ..]
There is nothing that makes this post an empirically "angry post." I think it's a real mistake to accuse this poster of singling someone out just for responding to a post.

There are plenty of rude comments leveled at posters on this board that receive no comment from you. You are the only one singling out some posters over others.
It's obvious someone is very vociferously threatened - by Bob's posts
[ In Reply To ..]
They can't match the intellect, so they complain to Moderator. This is not the first time this has happened to this particular poster.

All kinds of stuff goes on. Republicans slinging all kinds of insults. The word "you" all over the place, until this particular poster starts posting with reasonable, intelligent, and interesting posts, the likes of which not many, Dem or Rep, can match intellectually or by succinct composition.

The righties know they'll be out-debated, so they complain. They want Bob and previous Bob monikers gone.

The Moderator may say no, but this is the third time I know of that this has happened. The word jackwad was used. No deletion.

I respect the monitor, but I don't respect those who can't just leave it alone if they feel inferior.

just want to clarify something - same poster
[ In Reply To ..]
I'm not saying the Moderator is selectively deleting or playing favorites. I think he/she goes about her business with his/her own family, job, and expects us to handle things... until notified otherwise. And there is a pattern.

It doesn't matter what your moniker is - the posts all read the same

[ In Reply To ..]
You should go back to using your other monikers. It's not the moniker that makes a difference, it's the content of your posts and what you say. It's not hard to tell who is who and who used to be who and which posters are the same posters.

just so long as bozo and stupid are okay - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
moderator, you can't get owned by every poster who plays the ridicule card, especially when they're the ones dishing it out.

I think you're confused. Calling a word stupid (sm) - LL

[ In Reply To ..]
is not calling a poster stupid, and the word Bozo generally is associated with the President. Other than that, I don't know what you are talking about - and neither probably does anyone else.

I think you're funny - missed the link, I guess...

[ In Reply To ..]
I am not referring to the post below in which a poster referred to a word as "stupid" - although I have to admit, that was a clever strategy. Kind of like setting out a little bait for the fishes you're pretending you don't want to catch. ;)

I linked to the post I was referring to, and I have done so again here for your convenience. It contains the following remarks:

"the bozos on this board..."
"you know, the ones who are not acting like they are stupid..."
Oh. Mommeeee (wailing) she called me a name. - LL (sm)
[ In Reply To ..]
Really pathetic.
did you just call me pathetic? unbelievable. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Or are we going to pretend that we just used the word "pathetic" in a sentence?

Are you having trouble understanding the moderator's post above? I'm not whining about someone calling me a name. And you don't need to do the mommmeeeee thing. It's well...a stupid word.

My recommendation to you: stop the taunting and act like an adult.
I have a recommendation for you, **** - But I can't post it. (sm)
[ In Reply To ..]
It was a general term regarding a pathetic post on whining.
Yeah, I'd like to see the moderator's take on THIS. - nm

[ In Reply To ..]
Just as I predicted, the poster claims "really pathetic" was "a general term regarding a pathetic post on whining." lol
I think we just did...lol - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
well, I guess we can thank our lucky stars that "toodles" and "dearheart" were edited from posts below.

Fortunately, wailing "mommeeees" and "really pathetic" don't register on the ridicule and insult meter, otherwise some posters would have virtually nothing left to say.
I guess we got our answer - (really pathetic)
[ In Reply To ..]

That is my post you are referring to and I didn't call you - any names.- sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I didn't say you were a bozo or stupid. I used the terms in generality. You know like the ones calling republicans low educated, ignorant, and stupid. But at least I did not direct my comments at you in specific or shout out the word "YOU".

If you don't consider yourself in one of those groups I mentioned then you shouldn't be offended. But I am tired of certain posters following me around to tell me to post sources only to cut them down and tell me they are not credible. My sources and my research is accurate. The kicker is they will turn around and post a radical left-winger website.

I am following the moderators advice. I am not going after posters, like the one who is going after me. I'm just asking posters to stop following me around in a pathetic attempt to humiliate me.

I didn't say you did - please sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I was addressing the moderator's request not to use phrases like "crazy," "tin foil hats," or "trolls." I was commenting that "bozo" and "stupid" are not on that list.

I do not use any of those words or phrases when I post, and I don't appreciate posters who do.

could you repeat that, please? - thanks

Outside Cat, Trying To Solve Eye Issues AndOct 27, 2014
