I've been watching videos and reading recipes about how to make a lemon meringue pie. Question I have is the video I saw did the lemon part first and put it into the pie shell then did the meringe part after that. She said if you put the meringue on the pie filling while it is still hot it seels it, and the steam from the lemon cooks the meringue better. My question....Can you make the meringue first and let it sit while you make the lemon part then put it on the pie.
My grandfather was a cook in the Navy and growing up I remember how scrumptious his lemon meringue pies were and I'd like to try it myself. Thanks for any answers.
