Minored in political science, so you can believe this: Fascism is NOT and never has been a conservative philosophy. It is a philosophy from which LIBERALISM is directly descended.

Fascism exalts the value of the COLLECTIVE ("society") over the value of the INDIVIDUAL, and this is directly in line with liberal values, not conservative.

I'm sorry, liberals, but it's true: Hitler was a leftist. Musolini was a leftist. By NO MEANS did either of them espouse the conservative philosophy.

Roosevelt (a rampant socialist) sent a delegation to Italy to study Musolini's methods, believing them to be a superior means of implementing social policies. You didn't know that? Well, that's the problem. After the war, a lot of the fascist history of liberalism, which was virulent during the 1920s and 1930s, was very deliberately eradicated.

(Fascism is not nationalism either, by the way. The two have nothing to do with each other - like conflating astrology with astronomy.)

NEW LAW NEEDED: Everyone running for office and everyone commenting on websites regarding political matters must first PASS A TEST demonstrating their knowledge of political science and the history of political philosophies.

I do believe that many people these days who grew up with "buttons" on websites honestly believe that the truth is subject to their approval, that facts can be altered by their social media votes.

The National Socialists differed from their Communist comrades in one critical point. The German Communists had allegiances towards the Soviets, while the German Socialists had allegiances towards the German motherland. Both were left wing, neither resemble anything remotely labeled right wing here in the US.

BTW, it is well documented that back in the day, much of the US Media were fanboys of the “Worker’s Utopia” that the Soviets had brought to Russia. Many in the US Media were actually on the Soviet payroll, paid to dispense propaganda.

The “Nazi’s were right-wingers” meme was cemented by William Shirer in his “The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich”. Shirer was himself a devoted Socialist, and did not want National Socialism to harm the image of Soviet Socialism, which he promoted.

The Nazis called themselves socialist in the early days as a way of attracting followers in the post WWII depression. They did whatever it took to gain power.

I tried to have a discussion about this with my niece who is a political science major. It was frustrating to say the least.

By WHO and to what PURPOSE? People who believe this can have no idea what fascism actually is and if it came to it would be on the wrong side, opposing those fighting to protect our nation from fascism. And it suggests it will come to that. Why else would this be done?
OP, you need to realize that if you had been similarly taught, by the same people for instance, that being hit by a car was good for you, you'd go leaping in front of cars. This is the political equivalent, and it's very dangerous stuff.

We live in a real world, the same one where a deluded majority in Germany once actually voted to cancel their democracy, install a dictator for life, and destroy the nation they once lived safely and securely in. We all really need to be informed enough to take proper care of, if nothing else, ourselves and our own.

I'll start at the end:
* A belief in natural social hierarchy and the rule of elites -- We see this in the media and elite resistance to Trump all the time. Hillary was nominated because the DNC shut out Bernie and it was "her turn."
* Contempt for electoral democracy -- Recount. Get the electors to vote against Trump. Not my president. Russia, Russia, Russia.
* Extreme militaristic nationalism -- Okay you got me here. But 2 out of 3 isn't bad.

Fascists also have problems entertaining opposing points of view. See the recent college campus riots when conservatives are invited to give speeches. Or when a white teacher refuses to leave Evergreen campus and the school President is held hostage by angry students of color.

There's also the liberal anti-speech movement. Some liberals believe that certain types of speech cause stress. Stress can be detrimental to health. Therefore speech is violence. Responding to violent speech with physical violence is self defense.

I'm not making any of this up. Google it.

It has 10 pages of history of fascism and none of it points to liberals though many of them used the term socialism to convince people like Trump supporters that being a liberal is being fascist. The overall meaning is dictatorship which highly differs from a liberal thinking but more like Trump (dictator-wanna-be) and corporation dominance.
