I think I made a mistake

I left my old MTSO only to realize that the new one is not a good fit. Am trying to get back into the old one. Please pray for the highest good to be done.;

Well, they turned me down, saying that they were going to go with "other candidates." I'm 62 years old and if I could prove that they were guilty of age discrimination I would go after them. But I asked for the highest good and I guess this must be it.

You can get unemployment if it does not work out at the new job since you had no way of knowing when you left your old company that it was not going to work out. You can just say unfortunately, "I left for what I thought was a better opportunity and that turned out to not be the case." Which is the truth, as I am assuming you left job A for job B because you thought it would be better.

But whatever happens, let job B be the one to terminate employment. If they terminate you then you will qualify for unemployment benefits. Also, be sure to tell them you attempted to get your old job back, but was told they are going with other candidates.

Of course this is all based on the worse-case scenario, pending things get that bad at the new place. It could all be a blessing in disguise, get your UE and continue looking. It will all work out.

If the OP was an independent contractor, or only worked for the company a short time as an employee, she many not be eligible for unemployment. If she worked for her previous company for several years, yes, she may be able to draw off that company. However, unemployment compensation is based on quarters. I was terminated from 2 positions early this year, and because I had not worked in the particular quarter as an employee, I was not eligible for unemployment compensation.

an independent contractor you should qualify. You had no way of knowing the new job would not work out before you left your old one. You left because you thought it was a better opportunity. Unemployment is fully aware of how these companies operate. You can file on-line, you do not need to wait till Monday. Another thing that works in your favor is that you tried to get your old job back when you realized you had made a mistake. So be sure to make them aware of that.

You did let the new company terminate employment I right? As long as they terminated you, you should be fine. Be sure to save all emails. If you have deleted anything, make sure you go into the "trash folder" of your email and mark it as unread in case you need any of those things to support your claim.

It will all work out. Stay prayerful and I will keep you in my prayers. It's all probably for the best. Maybe God has something better in store for you. Keep us updated and file for your UE.
