No arrests made? What's wrong with those police?

Posted: Feb 28, 2011

The Wisconsin protests have been going on for almost 2 weeks with NO arrests.  Could it be that the only problems have been with the Koch brothers paid tea partiers that were bussed in?  It would look kinda bad for Walker at this point, now wouldn't it?

;

Last time I looked the police were public employees. - How about that? The

The poster did not mention Fox at all. I also read there were no arrests made.

In fact, those union members were to leave the capital YESTERDAY so the place could be cleaned but, guess what, they're still there. Not the crowd it has been because the police have locked most of them out, but some are still in there.

Guess the guy who assaulted the other reporter got away with it, too, if no arrests were made.

What guy? What reporter? Now you have brought Fox - into the mix.

They are the only ones trying to gin up these bogus claims. So far, despite best efforts, no one has been able to post a credible video. Seeing is believing. What attacks? The ones showing the FreedomWorks heckler and paparazzi intruding on a protesters privacy when he was minding his own business and didnt want to be harassed? The alleged off camera punch to the arm that no one saw? What?
There are plenty more incidents than just the single one. - GetReal

Grow up! If the TEA Party was accused of this, you would be all over it and talk about them as thugs. What is happening are not "bogus claims", but violence by some truly rabid crazy union THUGS!
No there arent. Otherwise, you would be posting them. - Nonviolent protest. Got it?

There is nothing wrong with protest.... - however, there is that pesky
[ In Reply To ..]
first ammendment. Fox has the right to be there right along with the protestors. And the protestors need to keep their hands off the reporters. Period. If the Fox fella had retaliated with a shove, it would be plastered all over as major headline on all the networks, CNN, and the DNC would be calling for his head on a platter. Chances are, HE would be arrested.

No one is buying this stuff anymore, and it is mostly just irritating to we who are not joined to a political party (or a union) at the hip. The "give them someone to hate" philosophy is not working for us. You think the Alinsky method is not being used...like the woman said to Tobin: "I hate you because it feels good!"

I rest my case. She doesn't even know that man, but she hates him???
Fox was there right along with the protesters - sm

doing what they do best, disseminating yellow journalism and manufacturing news where there is none. Nothing happened for Tobin to retaliate against. The only hate coming out of that report is that which Geraldo and Tobin harbor against the protesters. He said, she said, ifs and chances ares do not constitute evidence. Where is the video clip of Tobins hateful teacher? Evidence. I need evidence. Show me the evidence.

It really does chap your behind that this protest has been peaceful for its entire duration and continues to grow larger and larger day by day, huh?
I'm rejectin' your deflection. LOL. Geez. - the only thing that chaps
[ In Reply To ..]
my behind, if anything does (thanks so much for your concern, by the way) is your absolute blindness to anything but your own agenda. You have your script down pat though...is that from the DNC or the union? lol. Anything that comes out of anybody's mouth that is PRO your agenda needs no proof. Anything that is CON your agenda, you want proof. Geez...biased much??? LOL.

Did I say ANYTHING about the protest not being peaceful? No. If I am supposed to take MSNBC and CNN at face value, why am I not supposed to take Fox at face value? Since they have the highest ratings, my thoughts are the majority of this country do not agree with your yellow journalism theory.

I was not talking about Geraldo...I don't even know about the Geraldo story, whatever that is. Tobin said that a guy punched him, but it was no big deal. YOU folks made it a big deal. No, he was not "assaulted" but just as a side point for your edification...it is "Battery" under the law. People just need to keep their hands to themselves.

Where were you when the peaceful protestor back during the elections bit a guy's finger off? I suppose that was warranted.

This whole thing is ridiculous. You have absolutely no ability to see the other side of anything. Fox is evillll, the rich are evilll, apparently I am evilll....LOL. And you doubt, based on just what goes on on this board, that that teacher did not say she hated him because she enjoyed it?

You are so fired up in your self-righteousness you can't see the forest for the trees. For some reason you seem to think I am on a crusade to prove the protestors were violent when I have NEVER said any such thing, and that is a FACT.

Again, they enjoy the highest ratings among news outlets, so apparently your paranoia has not infected the entire country. Thank God.

Number one..it is not a FACT that nothing was said. You don't know if it was or it wasn't. By your posts and the way you are acting, I can see where a woman might have told him she hated him and enjoyed it. You sure seem to be getting your jollies from this.

If anybody wants to get anything other than the left/liberal/Democrat whatever the name of the day is, they have to watch Fox because they won't see it anywhere else. I watch a blend of all. I have no horse in this race. You certainly can't say that...

and as far as this chapping my behind and that is fact....actually, no. You are more to be pitied than censored.

Have a great day now and calm down. I know you think you are losing control of the message....but it will be okay.

I live in Wisconsin, so I think I probably know something about what is going on and have heard that the protests have been peaceful. However, it would not surprise me one bit if Fox puts a different spin on what's going on.

By the way, I think the Tea Party is a group of people who have no idea what is going to happen in this country if they get what they think they want. This is going to affect everyone negatively if unions are squashed. Walker and his rich buddies are the thugs.

Here is a poll. Looks like not everyone sees things the way you do.

CHICAGO (AP) -- A new poll finds that Americans oppose efforts to weaken public employee unions' collective bargaining rights by an almost two to one margin.
A New York Times/CBS poll released Monday finds that 60 percent of adults surveyed oppose efforts to weaken public employee union members' rights to collectively negotiate the terms of their employment. Thirty-three percent of those surveyed support such efforts.
The poll comes as Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker seeks to push through legislation that would strip most public employees of their collective bargaining rights and require them to contribute more to their pension and benefit plans.
The nationwide telephone poll of 984 adults was conducted Feb. 24-27. It had a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
Good post. I agree with you. - sm

Especially your comment: "By the way, I think the Tea Party is a group of people who have no idea what is going to happen in this country if they get what they think they want. This is going to affect everyone negatively if unions are squashed. Walker and his rich buddies are the thugs."

People like the Koch brothers finance these tea partiers and pull their strings like a puppeteer.

Ah, the Alinsky method...give'em someone or - something to hate.
[ In Reply To ..]
There is no organized tea party. And you are, no offense intended, misguided to think there is. There are thousands of us out here who are not members of any political party (of which the tea party is NOT a recognized one) other than Independent or we could not vote...who are sick to death of what is going on in Washington and sick to death of Democrats AND Republicans. WE are the ones who made the difference in the midterm elections. Democrats were saying the same old thing, tax, tax, tax, and we are TIRED of it. The country is BROKE. It is time to STOP spending. Democrats are not saying that. Credit the Republicans with listening (that could change any day, but right now they seem to be). Democrats have not backed off it at all...still on the spend spend spend jag and frankly, I AM worried about what will happen if THEY get what THEY want.

you know, it does not matter what you call us, however, insinuating that we are all a group following a party line is a gross underestimation on your part...just like the gross underestimation of what we could do at the polls (and did, at the midterms). We decided not to pledge alliegiance to a political party but to the health of our country.

All of this hoohah because the public employees of Wisconsin would not agree to help out their fellow workers and forego collective bargaining until the state was back on its feet.

I seriously do not understand why Democrats (and now apparently union members) cannot understand the seriousness of the economic situation and the financial soundness of our government. It's like Nero fiddling while Rome burned..."Fire, what fire?"

Hate to break this to ya but - sm

this is not about the t potty though it is totally predictable that you would try to make it about them or Alinsky or WHATEVER. Anything to avoid confronting the facts. Walkers supporters are outnumbered 2:1. His bully tactics are so repulsive that even one of his own has defected and stated his intent to vote against the bill. Please do not pretend this is about the budget. Walker has his concessions and a balanced budget on his desk. Why cant he take yes for an answer? Go figure.
Well...you get the prize for bottom of the barrel - comments. Good for you.
[ In Reply To ..]
nasty, nasty, nasty. Are you really PROUD of that t potty comment? Geez, where are we, junior high????

You should know what predictable is. You follow the rote script VERY well.

I don't know what facts you want me to confront. FACT: Wisconsin's economy is in the tank. The government is broke. Just like the federal government is broke. But since you obviously discount those two obvious blatant facts, let's move on. The public employees, or rather their union, refused to shelve collective bargaining until the state could get its economy back on track. Well the NERVE of the governor to even suggest such a thing. Just raise taxes. And who is that going to hurt? Well all the nonunion folks in Wisconsin who are already struggling. Way to look out for your fellow man, Wisconsin public employees. What a shining example.

All of a sudden because one governor made one decision he felt was necessary, that means the "tea party" wants to bust unions all over the country. What a GROSS exaggeration.

Y'know, you really ought to be ashamed of yourselves and I would suggest that, but that would assume that you were capable, so I won't.

As to Alinsky...unions, community organizers, et al have used it for years. That is nothing new. Obama used it when he was a community organizer. Look it up. Saul Alinsky's son even praised Obama regarding how well he picked it up. The basic premise is if you want to stir up a huge group of people, you have to give them someone/something to blame and/or hate.

The rich...Fox news...the tea party...corporations....see the pattern here? Absolutely no individual responsibility. Everything bad that happens to you is someone else's fault. Folks tell you that the reason you struggle is because the rich have everything. Now funny how that worm would turn if you suddenly became one of the "rich." LOL.
Ahem. Concessions made. balanced budget on desk, - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Walker cant take yes for an answer. Why is that? Please answer. While you are at it, show us how busting unions balances budgets. NOT. Take a look at Texas for example.
Well, of course. Silly me. You know more about... - balancing budgets than
[ In Reply To ..]
the governor does. Also, you are ignoring the HUGE elephant in the room. That is the elephant of we are not talking about BALANCING A BUDGET. The state is broke. B-R-O-K-E. What part of that do you not understand? Apparently you and unions too...unions rarely care if the company/state/taxpayers they are gouging ccan afford it or not...just raise the price, right? Raise the price for the state of Wisconsin, that is taxes...yes, taxes, the only source of revenue a government has. Which means every worker in the state is going to have to pay higher taxes to pay for the salaries and bennies. No one asked them to give anything back...just freeze it where it is. If they made any concessions it was after the fact. A simple yes, governor, we will freeze where we are and not ask for more until the state is back in the black. We won't gouge our fellow Wisconsinites for anymore in this horrible economy. That wouldn't be right.

But they didn't, did they?

Again...not talking about balanced budgets. We are talking about a BROKE state government.

Don't expect you to understand...a lot of people cannot seem to understand, on every level of government...when there is no more money...STOP SPENDING. What a concept.
Ummm, wasnt it the gov said those concessions - would balance the budget?
[ In Reply To ..]
Silly you.
Well, obviously if it balanced the budget... - the state would be back in
[ In Reply To ..]
the black. Nice attempt to move from the central issue. If the union had just agreed to the concessions in the first place, the right thing to do for ALL the workers in Wisconsin, none of this would be happening. Sometimes selfishness comes back to bite...hard.

"Silly you"....reminds me of grade school. Thanks for the nostalgia.

"The public employees, or rather their union, refused to shelve collective bargaining until the state could get its economy back on track."

If Walker gets his way here in Wisconsin, collective bargaining will be eliminated. There will be no shelving it until the state gets its economy back on track. This is not about getting the economy on track. This is about destroying unions and destroying the middle class and putting money in his pocket and his rich buddies' pockets and furthering his own political career.
Your statement is at worst a lie, or at best - a gross exaggeration.
[ In Reply To ..]
You said: If Walker gets his way here in Wisconsin, collective bargaining will be eliminated. First of all, Walker cannot eliminate anything at all. He gets no vote in the laws that are passed. That would be your state legislature.

"This is about destroying unions and destroying the middle class and putting money in his pocket and his rich buddies' pockets and further his own political career." Show me where there is any talk about suspending collective bargaining for ANY union other than the public workers union. The union that covers state employees, that state taxpayers pickup the entire tab for. NO OTHER UNION. Just the one. Are the other taxpayers, the non-public workers, also part of the middle class? Why is it okay by you if they are destroyed by higher taxes to pay for the extra pay and bennies for the state workers? What, they don't count? Please show me how shelving collective bargaining is going to put money in the governor's pocket. The legislature decides how tax money is spent. And please identify how tax money is going to go into his rich buddies' pockets?

What gets lost in all this is the OTHER taxpayers in your broke state. What about them? Ijust don't understand what some people don't get about BROKE. No more money. Time to STOP SPENDING. Why someone would have to be forced to do that is beyond me, and why this union did not just step up when he asked to suspend collective bargaining and just agree, just say ok gov, we will suspend collective bargaining until the state is back in the black because that is the right thing to do for the state and for our fellow taxpayers. Please tell me what would have been wrong with that. ALL of this hoohah could have been avoided.
Just the facts ma'am - mbmt
[ In Reply To ..]
I read your post pretty much calling me a liar. Well, I live in Wisconsin and I know what is going on in this state. There is no point in arguing with people like you because you believe what you want to believe. Facts obviously do not matter to you. Do you really think that the public employee unions are going to be the only targets in the long run?
Thanks. Your last line admits that what you - said is not a fact.
[ In Reply To ..]
And there is a difference between lying and exaggeration. Thinking that public unions are going to be the only targets in the long run is supposition and has no basis in FACT. If you truly think it is not going to stop there, then you exaggerated. It you really don't think that, but just want to stir things up, then it is a lie.

There is no basis in fact that Republicans et al intend to bust all unions in Wisconsin, let alone nationwide. At least nothing you have posted or I have seen on ANY news media supports that as fact. You can assume anything you want, believe anything you want, but that does not constitute fact.

If you have something factual that points clearly to a nationwide concerted effort or even a concerted effort in Wisconsin to bust all unions, please post that fact.

And yes, I think that the public employee union in Wisconsin, because of the state of the Wisconsin economy (broke is what I understand), will be the last one, unless another broke state pursues it. Not going to run screaming the sky is falling because an acorn hit me on the head.

Thanks for the discussion!

Google libtard or libitard and get a breakdown of it's origin (in case you can't guess it's "liberal" + "retard"). Justify insulting liberals all you want if that blows your skirt up... even curse at 'em if it makes you feel better, but picking on the mentally challenged is bottom feeding unless you're a child living in South Park.
Okay...read your own post back to yourself... - and change libtard to t potty...

Likening someone to a toilet is okay with you I guess. As long as it is the tea party on the receiving end and not liberals?

So, I would suggest that you look up "liberal" and see how liberal you post WAS NOT. I do not suggest that you grow up...I suggest that you also look up equality and even do unto others and really read a post before you go flying off the handle like the child you accuse me of being.

Take a breath. Walk way from the computer. Geez.

everything down step by step as of late, so here it goes AGAIN:

My mindset here:
1. There is a thing called freedom of speech. With that freedom, comes one's ability to behave quite badly as evidenced on this board as of late. People can frown upon what's being said if they choose, but it's still their right to be as ignorant and insulting as they care to be. Blast away and exercise your rights.
2. Now, there are a multitude of colorful, rude, and insulting words used to describe a variety of people based on their skin color, religion, sex, physical appearance, physical handicaps, etc. (you might want to insert "tea partier" into that list if you feel they're so discriminated against). Again, blast away and be as rude as you want to be. Is it ugly, rude, and insulting? Yes. However, these people have a voice and the mental faculties to defend themselves. Do you get where I'm going with this yet??
3. The term "retard." It's often used in the medical field. It is also often used as a derogatory term in order to insult or demean people with said condition WHO DO NOT POSESS THE MENTAL FACULTIES TO DEFEND THEMSELVES IN SOME CASES! It's bottom feeding and insulting not only to those with a mental handicap who can understand but to the friends and loved ones of these people. If you're going to pick on someone... pick on someone who can fight back. Get it?

And you were right when you said "'nuff said." You've said enough. Please don't respond.
LOL. Well, I don't need to contradict you, - you did it very well yourself.
[ In Reply To ..]
Second of all, why are you screaming at me? lol. I did not call anyone a libtard. Never have, never will. I have never likened anyone to a toilet either. Never have, never will. Obviously you don't share that philosophy and t-potty is okay because those people can "defend themselves."

You can repeat it until you are blue in the face. I am exercising my right to free speech...and I am also exercising my right as a human being not to engage in that kind of nastiness (potty comparisons AND "libtard") whether I have the RIGHT TO or not. And THERE is the difference between you and me. I don't think it is okay to attack people in that way. Yes, I have the RIGHT to, but I choose NOT to.

THAT was my point. You do not agree. You think it is okay to attack someone IF they can defend themselves. I do not. I don't think that kind of name calling has ANY place in ANY discussion. That is another difference between you and me.

And again...'nuff said. No need for you to respond and reiterate again your lack of character. If you had character and your actual intention was to defend those maligned, you would take up for ALL...whether or NOT they can defend themselves. But oh gosh...that would be the RIGHT thing to do.

You feelin' okay? - no1joe
[ In Reply To ..]
I contradicted myself? Really? Lack of character? Really??? According to you, I should basically don a cape and leotard and "take up for all" and defend those maligned? Delusional (as seem to be a lot of the posts over the past couple days).

You've made your point. I can say the sky is blue, and you'll fight me tooth and nail because you see me as "liberal." Awesome!

Again, here's the point (get ready, and pay attention): We're adults here. Adults are free to say what they want. Some behave better than others. If you resort to name calling and decide to involve the mentally challenged, you're bottom feeding.

BTW, the smart thing to do in this situation would have been to correct the person defending the TP position by using the term "libtard." I can think of a few in the TP camp who would probably frown on it, even if it was used to insult the left.

Scream on. I won't be engaging in further conversations with you.
awww joe, say it ain't so...and yeah...I thought that - was what liberals are all about.
[ In Reply To ..]
Wrong again...as you are wrong again. I don't think you should don your cape and leotard and defend anyone...I just said I choose not to descend to bottom feeding, and in my poor limited way of thinking, people of character do not descend to that kind of trash and when they call it out, they call it ALL out.

Apparently your definition of character allows for name calling as long as it does not involve the mentally challenged.

Actually, I DON'T see you as liberal. I see you as liking to THINK you ARE liberal. BIG DIFFERENCE.

The fact that there is not THERE there? That they havent created problems where there are none? Are you aware that nonunion workers are standing right alongside union workers in WI, not to mention across the country? I agree with the original post. The only thing that looks bad here is the fact that a) the counter protest numbers have been so miniscule by comparison, and b) the governor was caught on tape discussing a plan with Fake Koch to bus in agitators to stir up trouble.

Question...just on the face of it because I do not - agree with it in any case...

[ In Reply To ..]
you are acting like a union never bussed in people to stir up trouble. Okay for union agitators, not okay for the other side to agitate? Just asking. It seems like it is okay for one side, not okay for others. Wondering if you were on the bandwagon when the SEIU violently attacked people during the elections. What amazes me is the glaring inability for some on this board to see only one side of this issue. Amazing. The Saul Alinsky method of organizing (you know, the one Obama is an expert in) is alive and well in unionville. If you want to agitate people you have to give them something to hate: lemme see...the evillll rich, Fox News...

and ask an informed, educated, intelligent question, I would be happy to respond. That would mean that you would have to refrain from injecting Fox's failed fear-mongering campaign rhetoric from the 2008 election.

We are talking about 2011 Madison Wisconsin. Walker discussed the pros and cons of introducing thugs and goons into a peaceful protest. The only reason he decided against it is because he was afraid of being exposed as the perp. Laughable, considering he was busting himself with every single word that was coming out of his mouth.
First of all....since that was my first response to - you...informed, educated
[ In Reply To ..]
and intelligent are not three adjectives I would use to describe you. Paranoid, prone to jumping to conclusions and rude are the first three that come to mind.

Here is the link for the SEIU attacking the black Tea Party fellow...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFeUhSlHiUQ. So you can hush about that one...not fear mongering...the TRUTH. Do I blame ALL unions? No. Do I think unions incite to violence if it serves their agenda? Obviously they do.

And since you tout yourself to be well informed and intelligent, do yourself a favor and do some research the Saul Alinsky mode of organizing. If you are really unbiased and want the truth of course.

Although I said I was not in favor of bringing in agitators by either a governor OR a union, you just attack, attack, attack with the insults, which is what people like you apparently do when you can't refute facts. Then you resort to lies and trying to change the subject, and when that does not work...the almighty insult.

One was for an outstanding warrant, one for public drinking, and one was an antiabortion protestor for annoying other attendees and violating a court order. Three. (None for marijuana, BTW.) The protestor had climbed a tree at the Mall and was yelling (as one would expect of a protestor, of course) throughout the ceremonies. Police couldn't talk him down, and he he climbed 40 feet up to avoid them, so they decided to let him be--for 5 cold hours--and when he finally climbed down he was arr ...

Police OfficersNov 28, 2014
My son is a police officer in one of the most crime infested places in the US.  I am very proud of him.  He was in the military before joining DC Metro.  I pray for his safety and pray he does not encounter someone who thinks they are above the law.  At the point in time that he is confronting a person who has broken the law, my son is the law.  He enforces the law.  Bottom line:  If a police officer tells you to do something, get out of the car, hands up, ...

Should I Notify Police?Mar 09, 2016
My father recently passed away.  I went to clean out his hunting camp (on 6.5 acres) and found some questionable stuff, to say the least.  He had a fake door built in the back of his closet.  When I opened it, it was FULL of BDSM paraphernalia.  Thousands of dollars worth.  Then, I really started looking around his camp.  I found several hooks and pulley systems hanging from the ceilings, and stacks and stacks of BDSM magazines with bookmarks of interest.  ...

Now let me see if I have this right. There's no guidance or discipline in the home.  The family situation is so unstable, 'Junior' doesn't even know where or to whom to send a Father's Day card.  Junior gets dumped into the education system where he is socially promoted because the overwhelmed school district can't deal with the undisciplined whelp.  Junior's major formative influences are 'gangsta' rap videos and a correspondi ...

Justice has provided oversight and recommendations for improvement of police services in a number of cities with consent decrees. For The Real Circle Of Police And OffendersMar 06, 2015
1) If you live/work in a war zone (ghetto, drug lair, whatever you might call it), except to be attacked, possibly shot by either side. You're living where people are expected to be criminals. 2) If you are up against someone with a gun, regardless of which side they're on, it would be wise to be quiet, humble, keep your mouth shut and do whatever they tell you. Charges can be filed later against the police officer, security officer, etc., after the heat of the moment is over. 3) If ...
