I used my husband's college graduation gown which happened to be black. I bought a black paper pointed witch's hat and did black and white witch makeup. At the time we lived in Ohio and it was usually cold on Halloween and because the gown was big, I could wear a coat under it. Funny part is that he was aggravated he had to pay so much for his cap and gown for only 1 graduation ceremony, but I certainly got his money's worth, because I wore it the whole time my daughter was growing up, every halloween.

Both good ideas. : ) - Robin

Thanks for the ideas. I do have scrubs, so could do something with those.

Glad you got all that use out of the grad. gown, MT4U! : )

Stick a knife through a Cherio box and paint it with some red paint. Hang that around your neck and go as a cereal killer. HAHAHA

I have a friend who looks amazingly like Jesus... - Zircon

I mean, he REALLY looks like Jesus. He has a different name, but his friends all call him Jesus. So his "costume" is always an easy one - a robe and sandals - and everyone knows who he is.

Cool, but - Leela

Not to spoil anything, but you know Jesus really would not have looked like the drawings/paintings we have all seen, right? Not from the area he came from.

Halloween Costume IdeasOct 02, 2011
I'm looking for some halloween costume ideas for a party my DH and I have been invited to.  We'd like to dress as a couple, but we don't have to.  We're both on the plus size.  I'm a size 18 (I'm larger across the chest than anywhere) and my DH is a size 38/40 tall (he carries his weight in his tummy and across the chest). I picked up a pair of pleather pants for myself on a clearance rack and thought about going as Sandy from Grease and my hubs as D ...

Ideas For Quick At Home Halloween Snacks?Oct 31, 2009
Having 3 kids sleep over for Halloween, looking for something simple to make that is not too sweet. There's enough candy in the house, want to serve something simple but special that's not too hard to make. Having brain freeze! Looking forward to a fun, safe Halloween with movies, games and letting them pass out the candy after they go around a bit. No sickness yet, thank God, but a young girl in our NE state did die from H1N1 this week. Very sad. Lots of handwashing around here. ...

Menu Ideas For Young Adult Gathering.Jan 06, 2010
Please toss out some ideas to me!  My son's girlfriend is turning 20 this weekend, and he is inviting some friends of theirs to our house to watch movies and hang out.  They're all home from college and are great young folks.  I offered to make some food for them, which of course he was pleased to hear.  I asked him for ideas, but he just said, "Oh, mom, you know everyone likes anything you make."  Nice compliment, but I need more specifics.  I want to mak ...

How To Make A Goody Two Shoes Costume As A Joke (sm)Oct 29, 2009
My boyfriend's cousin called me his "goody two shoes" girlfriend when he first met me and now he gets embarassed every time I mention it, so as a joke to him I want to make him a goody-two-shoes costume for my halloween party.  All I can think to do is take a poster board, put elastic on the back, make arm holes, and glue candy and shoes to the front of it, and write goody two-shoes on it.  Does anyone have a better idea??? ...

Halloween TVOct 23, 2009
I was just going through the tv listings looking for things this week that me and my kids can watch together.  I am a sucker for holiday tv around Halloween and Christmas time.  I can watch the same thing year after year and never get tired and this has been for almost 30 years of my life that I can remember!  Anyways, this year I am totally disappointed with the lineup.  The ABC family channel has their 13 Nights of Halloween but they are playing movies like The Goonies and ...

A Little Halloween TriviaNov 01, 2009
Here's a little Halloween trivia I heard in an interview...Actually about the movie "Halloween". The mask that the character Michael Myers wears.  Does anyone know whose face it really is.  I never realized this until I saw him interviewed.  It's.....William Shatner.   Now that kind of ruined everything cos we were watching the movie and DH felt the desire to use Captain Kirk's voice through the whole movie.  LOL ...

Halloween Is Coming! Any Suggestions For Sep 27, 2014
stays on and doesn't sweat off after a night of dancing and partying?  (My face will be painted like a skull).  The costume store paint is greasy and smears off easily.   Right now I'm experimenting with white eyeliner (the stick kind you use on the lower lid water line) and so far, it stays on, but isn't as opaque as I'd like.  Have any of you done a successful skull-face makeup job that stayed on and didn't smear?   ...

I'm Getting Married On Halloween, October 31, 2009Oct 12, 2009
Well, I have finally decided the time is right and am getting married on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 3 p.m.  Just a small gathering of about a dozen friends and family.  My dress is ordered (GORGEOUS!), our rings are ordered and should be ready next week, I've ordered my bouquet, a friend of ours is making a customized little box for her son (the ring-bearer) to carry, and their little 3 year old daughter will be our flower girl.  My daugher, age 20, is going to be my Mai ...

Halloween Traditions/my Neighbor Told Me I'm Going ToOct 16, 2009
This is kind of a double post so I didn't take up board space!   FIRST:  I have a new neighbor and we had introduced herself when she moved in and we were all friendly.  I recently decorated for H-ween.  Nothing too much just a big lighted up pumpkin, an inflatable ghost, and a couple of those wind socks on the porch. Anyway yesterday her and a couple of her church girlfriends came over and knocked on my door.  I answered all polite and then she told me that H ...

No Halloween Candy For You: N.D. Woman To Hand Out Letters To Fat KidsOct 31, 2013
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/oct/30/nd-woman-hand-out-fat-letters-instead-candy-hallow/ Happy Halloween (to those who celebrate it) When I saw this on the news I thought it was a joke at first. Okay, maybe this lady has a point but IMO she had 2 options: 1. Do not hand out anything. Turn your light off, lock the door, stay inside, and keep your mouth shut. They are not your kids. 2. Hand out healthy snacks or non-food items like festive Halloween pencils, erasers, spider ...

Adult ADDApr 22, 2016
I was recently diagnosed with adult onset of ADD.  I've been doing a lot of research and found that this is quite common, it's not just for kids anymore. As an MT, it is important for us to concentrate on what we are doing and be able to multitask; i.e. listening, interpreting, typing, correcting, etc.  I have started to find this extremely difficult for several months now to the point where when I'm listening to some of these monotone, obnoxious dictators that my mind b ...

Adult Sibling Rivalry?Sep 23, 2012
My youngest brother, "Rick," is a 50-year-old doctor, never been married, and a loner (not in the bad crazy sense, just isn't that interested in people). For the past few years all holidays have been at his house because Rick doesn't like to be away from home (I think he might have some anxiety issues, but he uses his medical practice as a reason for not wanting to go anywhere). Rick lives about 2 hours from each of us. His house is very nice, but all the work of bringin ...

Any Young Adult Fiction Readers Out There?Dec 29, 2013
I love getting engrossed in books and lately I cannot find one.  Any other young adult fiction fans have some suggestions?  I loved the V.C. Andrews older books, never could really get into the series within the last five years or so, they changed.  I absolutely LOVED the Twilight Series and read it a few times, which is against what I do, I never usually read a book more than once.  I also really enjoyed 50 Shades of Grey, the first one, but couldn't get into the second ...

Dating Again - Issue With Adult ChildrenJul 12, 2016
I was divorced about 12 years ago.  I dated a little, but have had NO dates in the last 10 years.  Recently I met a wonderful man.  Things have progressed wonderfully and we are now in a serious, committed relationship. I have 2 adult children who live with me.  My son is 26, my daughter is 22.  They are causing major problems.  They REFUSE to spend any time with my new boyfriend.  They DEMAND I tell them when he is coming over, so they can hide in their room ...

Handling A Disrespectful, Unappreciative Adult SonMay 03, 2014
I am hoping to make this a short post, but I am at my wits ends here.  My son, from the age of 15 has been such a rebel.  He ran away from home, etc, caused great heartache to our family (his father, sister, and myself).  When he was about 18 he came back into our lives, and we accepted and moved on.  He continued to drink, do drugs (including meth), continued to be very disrespectful towards his father who has bent over backwards for him. He was on his own and not in our hom ...

Stocking Ideas......Dec 20, 2010
Just wondering what everyone uses as stocking stuffers besides the usual fruits and nuts.  I read another post under the DH/SO post about the sweet gifts in a stocking so just thought we could share some tips too.  I usually just fill ours with the usual:  Fruits, nuts, chocolates, batteries to accompany gifts, candies.  My 18-yo informed me that bobby pins would make great stocking stuffers so I might add that this year! I also am thinking of playing a trick on my kiddos, ...

80th B-day Ideas.Dec 03, 2013

Looking For Some Snack IdeasMay 03, 2014
I'm sick of candy, chips and peanuts.  I know of apples, grapes etc.  I go online to look up healthy snacks and get the usual 3 pretzels wrapped in one piece of proscutto with a pretty toothpick sticking out of it (something like that), or they have a piece of weird bread topped with strawberries drizzled with some white stuff (probably yogurt)...blek! (though I do like yougurt and strawberries, but not into gourmet looking snacks. Looking for some different ideas,  Not look ...
