halloween costume ideas

I'm looking for some halloween costume ideas for a party my DH and I have been invited to. We'd like to dress as a couple, but we don't have to. We're both on the plus size. I'm a size 18 (I'm larger across the chest than anywhere) and my DH is a size 38/40 tall (he carries his weight in his tummy and across the chest).

I picked up a pair of pleather pants for myself on a clearance rack and thought about going as Sandy from Grease and my hubs as Danny, but the jackets would run us another $40 to $60 and I didn't really want to spend that much.

Does anyone have any costume ideas that would involve pleather pants for me and possibly a matching costume for DH? TIA

You can probably pick up the jacket for an outfit at a Salvation Army Store or similar thrift shop and stick with your original Grease idea. This would probably be under $10.

you could be a pair of dice. You just need two boxes, paint them white and then paint dots on each side. Cut out holes for your arms, and head and no bottom on the box. You could both wear black pants to showcase the dice.

Also, you could be a set of dominos. I was a domino for Halloween one year. Black pants and black turtle neck or long sleeve shirt and cut out white circles from felt squares and either do a loose running stitch that can be easily cut out afterwards or pin them to your pants and shirt.

There are all kinds of fun homemade costumes you can do. One year I took two pieces of posterboard and painted them as the front and back of a pokemon card for my son. He was having a hard time with the dressing up thing (he has Asperger's syndrome and was at the age he did not want to feel silly) so I suggested a pokemon card since he was so into pokemon at the time and he picked his favorite card and gave it to me and did the posterboard up to look just like the card and used some string over his shoulders to attach both cards to each other and at his waist, so it would not fall off and he had a great time, got tons of compliments too!! Just use your imagination.....

I know I'm showing my age here, but any heavy metal bandmembers would work with your pleather pants! OR, dress as KISS members! I dressed as Paul Stanley one year (and yes, I'm female) with pleather pants and a borrowed jacket.

Having 3 kids sleep over for Halloween, looking for something simple to make that is not too sweet. There's enough candy in the house, want to serve something simple but special that's not too hard to make. Having brain freeze! My boyfriend's cousin called me his "goody two shoes" girlfriend when he first met me and now he gets embarassed every time I mention it, so as a joke to him I want to make him a goody-two-shoes costume for my halloween party. stays on and doesn't sweat off after a night of dancing and partying? (My face will be painted like a skull). The costume store paint is greasy and smears off easily. Just wondering what everyone uses as stocking stuffers besides the usual fruits and nuts. I read another post under the DH/SO post about the sweet gifts in a stocking so just thought we could share some tips too. So left leg starts swelling..Go to doc, rule out DVT said my valves are bad. His answer, take a baby aspirin a day (I look like I have been in a fight Im so bruised) and yesterday at end of shift my leg is tight swollen and my foot. My significant other is forever sleeping on the sofa because he works second shift and it looks bad. You cant reverse the cushions on this one and those throw over things keep falling down. I'm sick of candy, chips and peanuts. I know of apples, grapes etc. I go online to look up healthy snacks and get the usual 3 pretzels wrapped in one piece of proscutto with a pretty toothpick sticking out of it (something like that), or they have a piece of weird bread topped with strawberries drizzled with some white stuff (probably yogurt)...blek!
