They are exercising their freedom of speech when they shout down someone else who is trying to speak. We saw it many times during the town hall meetings. It's a tactic used by those who fear debate.

Let's pass a constitutional amendment for freedom of listening ;)

Sometimes people are actually shouting because they are sick of *not* being listened to.

The brownshirts at the 'town halls' notwithstanding, there are plenty of legitimately ticked-off Americans who are just tired of 'hand-picked' questions and orchestrated town halls.

It's like children. Siblings and I did it all the time as did others. Sis would poke at me, poke, poke, poke, poke. After awhile you just get tired of it and finally poke back.

What you claim is "shouting down" the American people are saying is letting their voices be heard. The town halls were peaceful and people's voices were being heard. Unfortunately at some point you had the WH thugs come and start fights, shout at them and beat them up in some areas.

Here you have people of America and the people who represent them. Unfortunately the people who represent them become self serving and no longer work for the people anymore. Just the special interest groups, and then you have the bullies in the WH/congress. So those people no longer work for the people anymore. They become self serving _____.

Someone has got to stand up and say enough is enough. Besides if it was okay to disagree with policies when President Bush was in office why is it not okay to disagree with policies now that The O is in.

How about let's pass a constitutional amendment that government officials listen to their constituents without interrupting, calling them a piece of furniture and other derogatory terms, not getting on the phone while they are being asked a question, etc. Lets give people a chance to talk and ask questions while their government officials (you know the one's who work FOR the people) sit and listen to them for a change. Now that's an amendment I'd like to see passed.

Shouting someone down is just bullying. Verbal bullying.

Outvoting someone is democracy.

The town hall fracases were bullying by the people who were outvoted in the last election. Very poor behavior by bullies who were spoiled by the previous administration and its socially conservative agenda.

Social conservatism is on its way out and we can, at least in part, thank the bullies for that. Others are seeing them for what they are and distancing themselves from that.

Fricases (fricas) is not the right word to use. The town hall meetings were just that. Meetings where peaceful concerned citizens of the country met to listen to the government officials. They were allowed to ask questions and in most cases were listened to and had a chance to speak. However, what you consider a "fricases" was the instances when they were trying to ask a question, but where shouted down by the liberal operatives, ACORN, SEIU, and other WH bullies. They were pushed around, cameras ripped out of their hands, and in some cases the peaceful people were beat up by the liberal thugs. The only way the concerned citizens could sometimes get their questions asked was to speak a little louder. But of course it doesn't help to ask a questions and have someone call you a piece of furniture. Or your trying to ask a question and the congress woman turns and starts to call someone on her phone and doesn't listen to the question she is being asked and the congresswoman just ignores her like she isn't even there. I think that would anger just about anyone. But you know what. The citizen had enough courtesy and level headedness to not get angry over it. She calmly waited for Congresswoman Lee to get off the phone.

There was no "verbal bullying", however, there was "physical bullying" on your side. It showed quite poor behavior on their part.

Oh my dear, you have no idea how wrong you are about social conservatism. It is getting stronger and stronger each day. Especially now with all the wrong going on each day. Each and every day that Americans across the country are shown that the congress and the liberal elitists in office are not working for the people, the conservatives are getting stronger. There are even a lot of liberals coming out very strongly that this is not the democrat party they once knew. The extreme liberals in charge are rising up with Marxism. Something that about 90% of America will not stand for.

The bullies are getting away with it so far, but their time will come. We are already at the end of 2009, and 2010 is going to be a very good year for conservatives and all Americans.

Sure there are some crazy Marxists out there in the democrat party but I'm seeing more and more democrats distancing themselves and at least having the courage to stand up and say "this is not right".

This happened during a session in Congress, and to me, it's very embarrassing that that's how our lawmakers act. I have a feeling that more of this obstructionism is on the way.

Since Angelfood Ministries got shut down I don't know what to do. I support myself, my family, my elderly mom and it was a blessing having Angelfood boxes to count on.
