Obama should keep his arrogant trap shut.
Posted: Mar 8, 2010
There's really just one conclusion to be reached, which is that the majority of Americans are coming to fear and hate Obama. He's shed independent voters at a rate never seen before since tracking began.
When Obama opened his big yap about healthcare, his rating was crappy at -12 (Rasmussen). Since then, it's dropped even further to -19. Now, I don't know if you realize it or not, but that puts Obama right smack dab in the middle of Bush territory when the financial crisis broke out AND it makes him the biggest spin-out since drag racing was invented.
In other words, to reprise the words of others on the forum:
How the he!! did we ever elect this L O S E R to office?
;
sadly, I have to agree. From all his promises - :(
[ In Reply To ..]
made to get elected, he did not materialize a single one.
Not Aghanistan, not Iraq, not Guantanamo, not Iran, not Palestine, not the economy, not health care, not creation of jobs, change, yes, but for the worse, no security, etc....
On top of that most of his advisers are ill chosen.
O is weak and naive.
So you expected the entire agenda would be slam dunked in one year? - Really?
[ In Reply To ..]
How far do you think W could have gone with such a far-fetched expectation?
since when is Bush the "Richter scale?" - really!

nm
He is not. It is a rhetorical question. - It would have the same meaning
[ In Reply To ..]
were you to plug in any of the former presidents name in place of W. Why not try to abandon the reactionary response for one single second and focus on the issue at hand? In this case, the rest of the statement (the part you are ignoring) is the gist.
My statement was directed toward the following passage in the previous post:
"Aghanistan, not Iraq, not Guantanamo, not Iran, not Palestine, not the economy, not health care, not creation of jobs, change, yes, but for the worse, no security, etc...."
Notice that the "etc...." indicates that this list is incomplete in the poster's mind. In response, I was trying to convey that expecting resolution of this agenda of 10+ exceedingly complex and multifaceted issues in essentially the same amount of months is tacitly preposterous.
Rhetorical questions are usually posed as a tongue-in-cheek device to address bombastic, grandiose, histrionic, high-falutin, declamatory balderdash.
The message is not about W. It's about the bull that underpins the previous poster's overblown expectations.
Maybe if Obama concentrated better on one issue at - a time, he might actually get one right.
[ In Reply To ..]
As it stands now, he flunks it all. He also has made the economy even worse, more debt with nothing so far to show for it. The man is clueless.

And as far as Bambi, don't you remember him saying he was going to "hit the ground running," which was the reason he gave as to why he needed an unprecedented "Office of the President-Elect" or whatever he called it, complete with official "seal."
Give me a break! I've never seen such arrogance in an elected official as this guy. And now we're not supposed to expect overnight miracles....even though that's what he implied.

Most of the people who come to this board have their minds closed - you come to mind here.
If you re-read your post you might notice you simply asked me questions and then answered them for me -while assuming I am a strong supporter of Obama's.
I'd suggest you think about my comments but I rather doubt you'd slow down long enough to do that ;)

I come here to see what kind of Air America views are being bandied about by the OFA progressives on this board and then present an opposing view point. After all, liberals only make up 20% of Americans (although you wouldn't know it by reading this board!)
The truth is, we have you surrounded....and we are slowly waking up and roaring, so get used to it!

that your post is a fine example of the simplistic mindset that concludes that the president has the ability to miraculously cure all the problems that have built up over the past decade in addition to the new ones presented by the rapidly changing world we live in due to technology. We, those with the ability to be realistic, see things differently. But feel free to express your anger. Just know there are those who do not share your view and fully support our president.
This what a resonable, not insulting, not - Colleen

generalizing, not condescending, calm and truly well done post. I had forgotten what they look like. Thanks so much for the example.
Nobody ever said that - why do you continue - to exaggerate
[ In Reply To ..]
and make up stuff. Nobody ever said anything about "miraculously curing all the problems built up over the past decade" - Bush is who you are talking about basically. Whenever you don't have a valid/legitimate argument you come up with that same ol rhetoric - miraculously cure all the problems, do it overnight, etc, etc. The simple fact is nobody ever said that. It will take a while to bring ourselves back up from the past administration, but you are not justifying yourself by perpetuating a lie that everyone thinks he's going to "miraculously fix the problems". And someone replied that this post is reasonable???? Please copy and paste something, anything, even just a sentance would be fine so you don't have to do a whole lot of researching, but please copy and paste something, anything where someone says we expect him to miraculously cure all the problems. Fixing his own mistakes would be nice, but he cannot even do that. Of course we don't expect him to help the people and the country get back on track. He has to work out all the problems he is creating before he can repair the damage by the last administration.
By your own words you are not showing yourself to be realistic. You go ahead and support your president. That is your prerogative. Supporting the president is one thing, supporting the people behind the scenes is another.
But please, show me a post where everyone expected him to miraculously cure all the problems.
I don't see how anyone can blame EVERYthing on a President. - me
[ In Reply To ..]
The majority of the time, it is our Congress and House who make the decisions affecting most of our day-to-day lives.
Just how much weight do you think the Prez carries, anyway? GMAB.
You are absolutely correct - to exaggerate/anon
[ In Reply To ..]
I have been saying that for months, if not years. It is not the president that makes the decisions. He is just the talking head. That's why I said trusting the president is one thing, trusting the people behind the scenes is another. I don't blame Obama for any of this, just like I don't blame Bush for the previous admin. It is the congress and house who make decisions and vote, and also it is the people behind the scenes who make the decisions.
But nobody has ever said that we expect the president to "miraculously fix the problems", or to fix them overnight or within one week. I really get tired of hearing that when someone can't support an argument they'll pop in with "well you can't expect him to fix things overnight".
I agree - GMAB is absolutely right on.
why then do we believe in pres candidates when - ??

they "promise" us the sky, and actually vote for them?

What I really wish is.... - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
They would come out ahead of time and tell us who would be leading them. Then we could have a chance to vote them in or out. I wish we could vote for Chief of Staff, this czar, that czar, secretary of state, etc. I think no matter what party gets elected they reward people for helping them get elected by appointing them and that is not fair. We vote congress and house in and out, we should be able to vote for the people running the scenes behind the curtains.
My friend told me (so don't know when this actually happened), but she told me that years ago (maybe hundreds), whoever lost the election became the vice president. I haven't read that myself so can't verify it, but thought it was interesting.
I agree, people should also elect the cabinet! - advisers
[ In Reply To ..]
to appoint the losing candidate to vice president is actually a good idea!
Geez - Rodan
[ In Reply To ..]
Everything must be explained to you people. The president assumed office when the country was in tatters. The financial system was on the verge of collapse. The health system was sinking fast. We had 2 wars. One year later, we continue to struggle with these complicated problems. Hence, since the problems are not remedied, you call the president a failure. The implicit belief behind your conclusion is that all problems would be over after Obama's first year.
No, we do not mean "solved within a year", we are looking - Obama
[ In Reply To ..]
for a glimmer into the right direction.
Netanyahu and Ahmedinejad do not take Obama seriously, because till now O has not shown that he dares to be tough, strong and challenge his adversaries.
O thinks that TIME will solve all problems, he talks a lot, but no actions, whereas Netanyahu and Ahmedinajad work like honey bees toward their goals.
When O realizes that he is put into a corner, he drops the subject and switches to another issue, LIKE HE IS DOING RIGHT NOW, he brought up 4 subjects in the last 2 days:
1. How to tighten security at airport,
2. Re-activation of peace negotiations between Israel and Palestine,
3. Abortion,
4. Extension of unemployment payments,
whereas he should continue with the health care reform issue to bring it to a resolution.
Is Obama still campaigning and making promises instead of solving problems?
Is Obama "delegating" too much out of fear of making wrong decisions and having to take responsibility for it?
How about answering my question - to exaggerate/anon
[ In Reply To ..]
Please copy and paste one post, just one eensie weensie little post, even just one line will be good enough, of a poster who said that they expected Obama to miraculous fix the problems, or that a poster wrote they expected it to be done over night or within the first week or month of his presidency.
No where in my post did I call the president a failure. You just exemplified the title of my post "Nobody ever said that - why do you continue to exaggerate". What I said was "Fixing his own mistakes would be nice, but he cannot even do that. Of course we don't expect him to help the people and the country get back on track. He has to work out all the problems he is creating before he can repair the damage by the last administration.". That's not calling him a failure, that is just plain simple language. There were a lot of damage created by the previous admin, he hasn't fixed his mistakes yet, so of course we don't expect him to fix the past admins mistakes. Once he fixes his own, then he can tackle what was left from the previous admin. Give the guy a break to do one thing at a time.
Again, for about the 100th time...nobody ever said the problems would be over in his first year. Again, why do you continue to exaggerate?
