Price Hikes, Layoffs due to Increased Min. Wage

This year, my state increased the minimum wage. The result? EXACTLY as predicted!

Signs EVERYWHERE adivising customers of PRICE INCREASES.

LAYOFFS, including our local community college tutors. Students now have NO math or Composition tutors! Those employees HAD a job, now they have NOTHING.

We KNEW this would happen. Anyone who has owned ANY business, even a lemonade stand, knows that increased operating costs result in INCREASED PRICES.

I hope all the losers who supported this area happy now! No doubt they are suffering sticker shock at the McDonald's window.

At least they have been able to provide for their families like the minimum wage workers haven't been able to do. Maybe they could cut back on their zillion dollar salaries to cover the better pay for their workers instead of raising the prices. Oh wait, we can't do that, that would be unfair to those poor CEOs.

A minimum wage is STATEWIDE so affects EVERYONE.

That includes GOVERNMENTS.

The community college mentioned above is just that -- COMMUNITY, i.e. STATE GOVERNMENT.

There is no "CEO salary" involved here. But I get that you Dims/libs are all about emotions instead of LOGIC.

Most of the proponents of minimum-wage laws are uneducated. That makes them losers too IMO.

I am a proponent of minimum wage laws. I have a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. I tested at the 98% level on the Weschler Adult Intelligence Scale which is considered very superior. I have worked as a minimum wage worker, and I have been a manager of minimum wage workers. I fail to see how I am uneducated and lazy or a loser.

This is what happens when the minimum wage is raised... the price of whatever goes up by 10 or 20 cents depending on the volume of unit sales. Workers usually don't get fired or laid off because most businesses are operating as efficiently as they can when it comes to labor costs. Sales rarely decrease because the cost increase is really quite minimal to the individual consumer. This was the case where I managed during several minimum wage increases.

I'm not going to call you stupid or a loser for not agreeing with me. You're just a person who has a differing opinion from mine. I happen to think I'm right, but you know what, you could be right instead. As an intelligent person and not a loser, I AM interested in other's opinions that do not coincide with mine. How will I learn anything if all I do is listen to people who agree with me? The more intelligent you are, the more you realize you don't know everything. Please open your mind to embrace all knowledge and truth, not just what you already believe.

I have two boys learning to drive, one finished the classes but needs to practice and the other is in class now, which means two trips to and from the driving school.
