What's the gas price in your area?

Posted: Mar 8, 2011

Right now gast is $3.49 a gallon.  I have two boys learning to drive, one finished the classes but needs to practice and the other is in class now, which means two trips to and from the driving school.  I am used to a tank of gas lasting two months and now I am filling up more often.  I will not be able to afford it if the price goes any higher.

I just got gas yesterday and paid $3.67. Our gas has gone up $0.16 in less than a week. Luckily I don't drive too much during the week and minimally on the weekends. But I'm in the same boat your are, my daughter is just learning how to drive so in theory I am using more gas than usual taking her out for practice.

I am not sure where you are but right now, we are paying about the same; I am from West Central Illinois in the middle of nowhere so we have to drive everywhere. I was reading on the Yahoo home page that somewhere (did not catch where) they are paying about $5.50. I am guessing it is somewhere like New York. This summer my 12-year-old son is playing on not 1 but 2 baseball teams and most of the games are quite a ways away from here. I asked my hubby how we are going to afford all of that (since being a MT makes me rich LOL) driving this summer, especially since they are predicting over 5.00 summer. I swear if I lived in town, I would be driving a moped. If you ask me, it is getting to be that there is no middle-class anymore; seems you are either poor and struggling or rich. How in the world do they expect people to survive??? God help us all!!!

I am in Maryland. I saw that the price was around $5.50 but that was in Alaska - nm

Good thing I can't afford to go any anywhere or do anything. A tank still lasts me 6 to 8 weeks.

Yesterday it was $3.39 for regular unleaded. I live in York, PA. I did, however, see one station where it was $3.49.

Heard on the news last night both local and national, that a gas station near the airport in Orlando did not have their prices posted outside on a board and were actually charging people $5.00 a gallon. It was apparently posted as such at the pump, but they said in the article that this station and one across the street basically have a lot of business from people returning rental cars but outrageous and I would think illegal.

If someone is dumb enough to pump gas without knowing - how much it is

[ In Reply To ..]
They deserve to get "gouged." Although it is not technically gouging as we are not in any kind of civil crisis or state of emergency.

Semantics, I know.

I agree it is a ripoff, but an avoidable one by using one brain cell of common sense.

Taking advantage of someone else's stupidity, laziness, being in a hurry .. whatever excuse a gas pumper uses as to why they HAD to patronize that station but couldn't be bothered to check the price .. is not and should not be illegal.

The price is visible before they start pumping the gas. - How do you not see it? NM

There is not a big sign out front - but it is on the pump itself

In Florida there are two gas stations nearest the airport, one has gas for 5.15 a gallon, the other for 5.29 a gallon. The price is NOWHERE to be seen, and they are taking advantage of people who don't see the price and I think reasonably assume the price is going to be somewhat in the range of the rest of the street- a couple of blocks down there is gas for 3.53 a gallon. Unfortunately this is not considered gas gouging as it is not a time of shortage or anything, and they can charge however much they want. It just sucks that they hide the price and these poor people don't know until they have the gas what they have to pay. DO NOT GET GAS if the price is not listed somewhere, or if they won't tell you when you ask!!!!

They do that at grocery stores, too. If a price for - an item (or gas) isnt posted, I move on.

that prices be posted so that they can be seen before pulling into the station, store, etc.

It was up to $3.60 a few days ago. It keeps going up and down a couple cents every other day. It was up to $3.95 last week for some strange reason. :-/ I usually fill up every payday (2x mo) and it cost me $80 to fill up my minivan this last payday. So this month it's going to cost me about $200 in gas and that's not counting my hubby's car which he drives back and forth to work every day, costing just a tad bit more since he drives longer distances. So in reality my gas bill is almost as much as my mortgage. UGH!

$3.73 at last check. My husband drives 2 hours a day to work and back and fills the tank up 2 to 3 times a week. Now costing us over $100 in gas for his car alone (Honda Civic that gets 35-40 mpg). Doesn't count my son's car for driving to college every day, about $20 a week for him. CAnnot just not boycott the gas, have to work and have to get there. No choice in the matter. Good thing I work at home and don't have to drive to my office as well.

Depends on where you are in NY - sm

for regular. Couldn't see what plus was but I know diesel is almost $4/gal, if not more today. At this rate, DH won't be working this year unless he can up the rates to cover the awful cost.

Our prices went up $.51 cents in 2 weeks.

Price Of Gas Is Going Up, Up And Up. Mar 04, 2012
Lately all you hear about is price of BCP's, but why is no one worried about gas???  I think this is something to really be worried about.  So how will you deal with $5 a gallon gas this summer?  Will this cut into your budget even more and effect your lifestyle?   We know Obama is worried right now, because this will undoubtedly effect his plans for re-election.  Where I live, people are worried about price of food, clothing, and other essentials of daily livi ...

If The Price Is Right - By Chuck NorrisJan 05, 2010
At almost 80 years old, Thomas Jefferson foresaw the corruption of a federal government with too much power, when he wrote to William T. Barry in 1822, just a few years before his death: "If ever this vast country is brought under a single government, it will be one of the most extensive corruption(s), indifferent and incapable of a wholesome care over so wide a spread of surface." "Wholesome care" like universal health care? I waited until the new year to write this column because Washington w ...

Huffington Post also picked up on this.  Guess they will be coming for us next! Free speech seems to be starting the death toll. Such a wonderful government we now have, and those of you that still don't have your eyes opened, better use some toothpicks to prop them open. Here We Go Again! Dems Want To Probe Alleged Gas Price FixingMay 17, 2011
Geez. Every time gas prices go through the roof, they want to investigate, and never find anything wrong, or else they lose interest and it never goes very far. Why do they insist on wasting time? Could it be they don't want to deal with the deficit/debt ceiling vote, or JOBS; i.e., getting people back to work.     Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri on Monday asked federal regulators to investigate potential price fixing by oil companies that could be keeping gasoline prices arti ...
