Obamacare price hikes in red states by 78%, blue

Are you posting part of the truth? - Because that's what it looks like

[ In Reply To ..]
When you make a blanket statement like that is sounds as this possible factoid is supposed to be applicable statewide in these red/blue states... Care to expand/clarify?

Why Higher Costs for Consumers In Red States? - *Seriously

[ In Reply To ..]
Most of the red/Republican states are "taker" states. They get more money from the federal government than they give.

These "taker" states can thank their Republican governors for their health care costs. Their governnors refuse to put the people's interests before their political ambitions.

Civil war? IMO, no. Probably just people moving from red states to blue states in order to obtain what their fellow Americans are allowed to get. That or electing Democratic governors who'll get out of the way of the obstructionist guy on the way out (think Virginia).

That doesn't mean - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
that everyone in a red state is a "taker." Me and hubby paid $20,000 in taxes, thank you very much. We're not moving, either.

One State, Two State, Red State, Blue State - *Seriously

[ In Reply To ..]
Of course it doesn't mean "everyone" is a "taker." It just means that for the most part, the Republican governors that are screaming the loudest about paying taxes and the federal government sucking away all their tax dollars, etc., are in reality the states who are actually the "moochers" doing most of the taking that they scream about. Irony.

Of course everyone's situation is going to be different. This is America, where we actually have choices to move or stay put or live in multiple locations. I actually live in one Blue state and two Red states, and my tax burden is in the 6-figure range.

One State, Two State, Red State, Blue State
Two states are Red, but only one is a taker.
The other is a Blue state money maker.

It puts a unique perspective on things. Take the ACA for instance, one of the Red states has an exchange (love my Republican governor for that), and one does not. The Blue state has an exchange.

I love this country and do not cheer for its failure regardless of the party of the guy in the big white house in DC.
Sorry, but if your tax burden "is in the 6-figure - Libby

range -- your TAX BURDEN, not your INCOME -- and you live in THREE different homes in three different states, I just don't believe you can understand what it feels like to live in the lower middle class (having once been considered to be in the middle class or upper middle class myself) and therefore cannot understand that there are people out there who don't even own ONE home and/or those whose homes have been lost due to the massive S&L shenanigans predatory lenders, etc.

I appreciate your input, but what's going on now in Congress is very worrisome for a significant percentage of the population, and I can't see how you can relate to what it's REALLY like to be in their shoes.

What about this link! Obama did lie about - his own Obamacare.

Let's see some sources/statistics to back up your claims that you're so sure of.

This is about *federal* taxes, not state.

"Studies show that states that elect Democrats contribute the most in federal taxes relative to what they consume in government services. Conversely, many states that elect Republicans contribute the least in taxes relative to the services they consume. This is true even though many Democratic states contain large, poor, urban populations of color."

OP, civil war? Surely our country is worth fixing and - fighting FOR instead of AGAINST? There is

[ In Reply To ..]
another way. Every four years we offer ourselves a legal, nonviolent national revolution -- if we want it, we can have it.

That's why, for instance, the Reagan Revolution is called that. People wanted change on a national level and voted themselves it. More than they expected, but it was unquestionably the change they thought they wanted.

We also do the same at the state level. No need for guns. No need to destroy what's good about what we have.

I'm a democrat, but if we lost the next presidential - election to Christie...

[ In Reply To ..]
I'd be alright with that. I really like him.

EDITING--Sorry everybody, I meant to write this in response to the thread over this one! :)

EDITING AGAIN--I just realized I posted this (what I consider to be) bipartisan statement under in response to someone talking about a civil war?! Okaaayy....Obviously, I find that ridiculous.

Just remember Christie may be okay, but he - still would represent Republicans

[ In Reply To ..]
That said, he would not be the worst choice, but also remember the president nominates supreme court justices... very important to consider also.

I find myself liking him sometimes, but he is FAR more - conservative than portrayed and not

[ In Reply To ..]
nearly as competent as portrayed.

I'm quite sure his obnoxiousness would get very old fast, even faster than it did seeing him incidentally on TV at town hall meetings. I always wanted one of those constituents he likes to intimidate by pushing his 300 pounds into their personal space to stand their ground and tell tubbo to back up! Loudly, for the mike. Instead of giving ground in surprise, and even if looking him in the eye did cause neck strain from being so close.

This is from New Jersey's Star-Ledger, a hoot because they're actually endorsing him as the lesser of two evils.

"The surprise is that his achievements have been only modest. He signed an important reform to contain pension and health costs, but it was mostly done before he arrived. He signed a useful tenure reform last year, but it is a weak version that still protects bad teachers with seniority. His reorganization of the higher education system is promising, but untested.

Balance that against his measurable failures, and you have to conclude he is much better at politics than he is at governing.

The property tax burden has grown sharply on his watch. He is hostile to low-income families, raising their tax burden and sabotaging efforts to build affordable housing. He’s been a catastrophe on the environment, draining $1 billion from clean energy funds and calling a cease-fire in the state’s fight against climate change.

The governor’s claim to have fixed the state’s budget is fraudulent. New Jersey’s credit rating has dropped during his term, reflecting Wall Street’s judgment that he has dug the hole even deeper. He has no plan to finance transit projects and open space purchases now that he has nearly drained the dedicated funds he inherited from Gov. Jon Corzine.

His ego is entertaining, but it’s done damage as well. By removing two qualified justices from the Supreme Court without good cause, he threatened the independence of judges at all levels, and provoked a partisan stalemate that has left two vacant seats on the high court. This was a power grab gone wrong.

The public gives him top marks for his handling of Sandy, but the record is mixed. Why would his administration park NJ Transit trains in a low-lying area where they flooded, causing $120 million in damage? Why did the federal government have to strong-arm the state to include more relief for renters and Spanish-speakers than Christie had proposed? And why should anyone believe taxpayers got the best price on refuse removal when the governor awarded a no-bid contract through a political friend?

Our own view is that Christie is overrated. His spin is way ahead of his substance."

At Least Six Swing States Face Double Digit Premium HikesAug 17, 2016
Double-digit Obamacare premium hikes projected in 2017 may bode in Donald Trump’s favor, as several swing states are being impacted by double-digit increases under the law and consumers are expected to see the hikes around Nov. 1 — one week before heading to the polls. Trump has promised to repeal and replace Obamacare, but Hillary Clinton has vowed to make the Obamacare exchanges work. Some say the way she would do that is through raising taxes. “Any reports of premium increases will ...

Illinois Is The Obamacare Of The United States. It's BankruptJun 22, 2017
The company that runs the multi-state MegaMillions and Powerball lotteries announced that it was pulling out of the state of Illinois. Why? Because the state bankrupt. It's had a century of almost uninterrupted rule by a corrupt Democrat machine, and can no longer be relied upon to actually pay lotto winners. Blame Blagojevich and the pension plan. All the money that is collected in taxes in Illinois now goes to pay pensions, so the state just raised taxes. I am so disgusted with Illino ...

At almost 80 years old, Thomas Jefferson foresaw the corruption of a federal government with too much power, when he wrote to William T. "Wholesome care" like universal health care? I waited until the new year to write this column because Washington w ...

Obamacare Is Failing From Behind... His Goals For ObamacareJul 20, 2016

Here We Go Again! Dems Want To Probe Alleged Gas Price FixingMay 17, 2011
