The Tea Party Has Announced They Want To Shut Down The Government

Posted: Apr 7, 2011

They are against government and don't want the rest of us to have the benefits of government either. That is beyond silly and is very selfish. People will be hurt. Our economy is fragile right now anyway. This may put us over that line.

How much more of these tea party people can America take?

;

Did schumer have another conference call? - geeezzz. LOL.

little bit late though. The left has been trying to get this one rolling for days. Only now that the House has passed a short-term bill, the only way the government stops is if the Dem majority senate votes it down or Mr. Obama vetoes it. The ball is in the Democrats' court now. Let's see if they shut it down or not.

No, you are wrong...How much more of Obama and the spend like there's no tomorrow Dems can this country take???

They were on camera stating it, in public - They made it very clear

They didn't intend to leave any doubt.

that they're trying to sneak in their own personal agendas under the radar. That's why I used Pence as an example as well as his own personal vendetta against Planned Parenthood which he sees as an abortion mill.

This is hypocrisy at its finest. If the TP's stance is less government spending/small government (may I add, a viable stance), tell these guys to back off the social issues that they're bunched up about. Regardless of one's personal views on abortion (BTW, I'm as pro-choice as one can get which does not equate pro-abortion), the very definition of government intrusiveness is having a politician reach right in and take control of a woman's reproductive parts. Geez... even the biggest sleazeball would offer to take a girl out for dinner and a night on the town first. Can't promote small government and take on abortion at the same time... sorry.

If cutting spending/shrinking back government is the main TP issue, why has it become an issue of shut down Planned Parenthood or shut down the government? Not fair to TPers.

And this is just one of the issues contained in the riders. It's not right.
Okay, we will go down the abortion road...the - as mass murder of
[ In Reply To ..]
of millions of babies each year as a means of birth control is odious to me. There are a lot of people in this country who find it morally repugnant and yes, illegal because it is murder, and don't want our tax dollars supporting it. The government should not be involved in a woman's womb, period, INCLUDING the funding of vacuuming it out.

Now if those of you who are ardently pro abortion want to put together private funding for Planned Parenthood no one is stopping you. However, those who oppose it should not be compelled to support it through our tax dollars. I DO NOT think tax dollars should go for that purpose, and it is my right as an American to state so and ask representatives to vote so. That is what America is all about...at least it is supposed to be.

Let me ask you something....how do you think we who opposed Obamacare felt when our President basically told us to suck a root and pushed it through anyway? That's not right either, but it didn't stop them.

I will ask you what I have asked all the others who are complaining about what cuts are being put forth. If you can agree that our situation is gone way too far that more taxation will not help (and would only make the economy worse) then spending cuts are the only answer. I would feel a lot better about the Democrats if they acted like they understood that even a little bit...they DON'T. So please, make some suggestions to the Dems to counter what the Republicans are saying...instead of cutting this, suggest we cut this.

And don't say Republicans always protect corporations. Democrats do too. They have had control of ways and means for 44 of the last 55 years, and they have YET to close a loophole and probably, if I had the time or inclination to look, have created thousands themselves.

And if the pot doesn't stop calling the kettle black and try to figure out a way to agree on spending cuts...which I don't think is a bad thing either...WE are going to be the fallout. Arrogance, stubborness, saying one thing and doing another is what I am having a REAL hard time with the democrats on right now.
Thanks.

Hyde Amendment.

BTW, if you shared your overinflated sense of morality in order to impress me, it did not. It served nothing but to distract from my point which has nothing to do with your feelings on abortion, nothing to do with Obamacare, and nothing to do with Democrats, but rather the fact that the Tea Party is screaming they want small government on one hand while at the same time promoting government control over women's reproductive rights. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Thanks.

The pubs have come up with a budget plan where extreme cuts are made to all kinds of social programs while giving the rich more benefits and it is the democrats fault if the government shuts down because they disagree. Everybody apparently thinks cuts need to be made, but lets take it all away from the people who need it and give it to the people who don't. Good thinking.

Why didn't the Democrats pass a budget well before this... - Kendra

[ In Reply To ..]
you know, while they had the majority? How would this NOT be their fault? I say cut the heck out of social programs and don't fund abortions, which really goes against my own interests because if there is a government shut down, my husband doesn't get paid and we still have to pay for the gas to get him to work. I still hope that the Republicans stand their ground.

Reid and TP - icedT

[ In Reply To ..]

But, Harry Reid said the Tea Party won't be around very long.  He said the country didn't care much about the Tea Party.  Didn't Nancy Pelosi call it a astroturf movement?

So why are they so worried/obsessed about the TP?

"I believe the tea party is short-lived. I think you will find even the people that claim they're tea party folks will either be gone as a result of their extreme positions or they will move to the more moderate position -- which is certainly not being a liberal, that is being a conservative. I think with the economy getting better, you will see less and less agitation from the tea party folks," Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) told MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell.

I don't believe they will last long but will cause a lot of damge while they exist - nm

blame - icedT

[ In Reply To ..]
Blame anyone you want. I don't care if the Tea Party is blamed or Harry Reid is blamed. I don't think the majority of Americans care who is to blame, but they DO care about the unsustainable debt and where the country is headed.

The fact is that if blame is to be cast on one single person, the buck stops with the president. Leadership doesn't exist in the administration right now.

Why the gross exaggeration? They are not - "against" government.

[ In Reply To ..]
they are against "big" government, for sure. Some of them believe there is too much power concentrated at the federal level and I agree with that.

Answer this for me. How come Democrats/liberals were coming to this board last week touting how many jobs Obama had created and how the economy was getting stronger and we were on the road to recovery...and now all of a sudden the economy is fragile and a 3-day "shutdown" of the government will put us over the line? LOL!! I guess you think no one remembers what you were saying last week. To quote you...how sad!! and to quote you again..."beyond silly."

A 3.something trillion dollar budget is more likely to wreck a fragile economy that a 3-day shoutdown of the government, if the senate Democrats and Obama force that to happen (the ball is in their court now; the House passed an interim bill to keep the government running).

What part of address spending and the deficit do the Democrats understand? I can tell you...NONE.

And if you think all the tea parties are the only ones upset by that..you are wrong.

I KNOW one thing and don't need the tea party to tell me that...this country cannot stand much more of the spendlikedrunkensailor Democrats led by the biggest spender of all, Obama. 2012 cannot come fast enough for me!!

Oh please.... - yawnnnnnn

[ In Reply To ..]
What's next...

The tea party wants to bring back slavery and put every black man, woman, and child in chains or

The tea party wants to put every woman at home in the kitchen and take away their right to vote, or

blah, blah, blah...this post is trying to spread fear with lies.

Personally America needs more tea party people. The tea party people are the ones who finally woke up to what our government is doing to us.

If you would prefer everyone to go home and let communism take over then there are plenty of other countries that live like that. WE DON'T.

Sorry, not falling for the fear mongering message here.

P.S. - You have no proof of what you posted.

With their terrible concern with ISIS and the handling of terrorist activities, they will risk the shut down of DHS? This just doesn't make sense.
