get it foiled with some color in it. I have been thinking about a curly perm but I am not sure what kind to get and I would have my hairdresser do it. I dont want a fuzz ball so I am wondering if anyone here has tried this on colored hair just streaked color. I want a good perm that would last for a while and have curl to it but not tight. My hairdresser does not carrying prems anymore and the company they deal with does not sell them either. They are expensive products the salon sells.

There are options to perms for fine hair, talk to your stylist or get a different opinion. I think that too much chemical processing could make things worse. I don't know what length your hair is, but there are a lot of haircuts they can do to make hair appear thicker and you might only need some styling products to achieve your look. I'm on the other end of the spectrum in regard to thickness and have trouble getting good haircuts, that can be frustrating too. If you do get a perm, find out what products the salons recommend so that you purchase the right thing.

I was put on warfarin. I had a tip on preventing hair loss which can occur on warfarin to take Biotin. I started adding this to my morning regimen. You can buy it at Walmart OTC. I have had compliments on my hair at my age. I also had my hair colored dark brown (natural) with blonde highlights. I only have to do this 2-3 x per year. I am happy with the results of both the Biotin and the hair color. Good luck. Your hair can make you or break you, I know.

Next payday I'm going to pick some up. I have very long, semi-thick hair and would like to keep it that way. I have noticed lately it's less thick than it was in my 20s and 30s.

I pick this up at Walmart in the vitamin section. I originally posted this answer. Usually when there's a "buy one, get one" offer, I buy that and vitamin D for my bones. Works for me. I don't have the dosage right now; in the other room, but try it, friends have noticed a difference. I see much less hair on my hairbrush and I think it's working. Picked up this trick from others who are on warfarin which can thin one's hair. Won't hurt; might help.

I would check out a variety of haircuts before perming. Perming can be a catch 22. It can be harsh and damage the hair (no matter what a hairdresser tells you). It is kind of a catch 22---looks nice all full, but they are using chemicals.

Go through some hair magazines and ask your hairdresser what she thinks would work with your particular hair, texture, waves or cowlicks if you have them. Someone who knows your head is probably the best to ask. Some really good layering by a good hairdresser can make a world of difference. And keep it up every few weeks. I have my hair trimmed every 4 weeks.

I have colored my hair at home for probably 20 years now. I have a natural medium to dark brown hair but have always colored it really blond. I used to use the really permanant stuff from Loreal and then switched to the more mild Revlon stuff. I always buy the Natural light blond and have to color it every 3 weeks or so. For those of you with dogs that shed (like my Golden), can you share you grooming schedule and favorite brush? I have long hair that usually takes about 3 boxes of dye. I usually only do it about 2-3 times a year and do the all over color each time because my color tends to fade. I think hair dye might be one of those things that you get what you pay for. I usually buy the Colorsilk ($2-$3 at Walmart) because it is cheaper and I am usually broke. I actually have Loreal in a box but also went out a year ago and bought the individual products. I finally have the nerve to do it as my hair is dull mouse brown and long - and now looking lifeless and bland. If any of you have problems with brittle hair and dry skin, try a shower filter. The water in your shower is filled with chemicals, minerals, and the same or more amount of chlorine as swimming pool water. I just purchased an Aquasana shower filter. In the latest issue of one of my dog journals, there's an article about a place in CA, Matter of Trust, that's collecting dog and human hair to use for helping clean up some of the oil.
