HLN is tearing apart juror's reasons for Casey Anthony not guilty verdict

Posted: Jul 13, 2011

Nor did they have the sliightest understanding of circumstantial evidence.

What is funny to me is when the jurors try to justify their decision, they end up hanging themselves with their lack of knowledge of the case and the rules of the case.  Can't wait for next juror to speak up who contradicts or justifies decision based on misundertanding of rule clearly set out by Judge Perry.

Clearly these jurors were misguided to say the least and uneducated at best.

Maybe that is why so many think the jurors were stupid and the more the jurors talk the more that impression is verified.

 Sad but true.

The case against Casey Anthony was circumstantial! - LaLaMT

I wish people would leave these poor jurors alone. If you don't like the verdict, blame the prosecution. They had no clear cut cause of death and were trying to convict Casey Anthony based on a foul odor and her partying ways. Casey Anthony was a bad mother. She wrote bad checks and she partied. Seriously, should that be all it takes to convict someone of murder?

Casey Anthony is guilty of not reporting her daughter missing when she should have, being a bad mother, and being an idiot. My honest opinion is that the child died as the result of some sort of accident - maybe she drowned in the pool or maybe she was drugged so mom could go out partying and overdosed. I think Casey should have been convicted of some sort of negligible homicide or involuntary manslaughter.

She definitely lied to police, so the jury got at least that right. But the case was circumstantial. The prosecution did not prove the Casey murdered Caylee beyond a reasonable doubt. All anybody knows for sure is that the little girl died and was not reported missing for 30 days. That her mother spent time partying and forging bad checks. The prosecutions case was flimsy at best, a house of cards that came crashing down.

Believe it or not, crimes were successfully tried before CSI - sm

Despite your apparent perception, most cases are based on circumstantial evidence. The fact that you are taking and looking at each individual piece of circumstantial evidence shows that you have never heard the judge's instructions on how a circumstantial case works. It's okay. Not everybody has to know about everything. But there was more to the case than foul odor and partying.

I'm sorry, but in a case where the prosecution is seeking the death penalty - LaLaMT

I am of the opinion that the case should be solid and should be more than just theory.

sorry, but I DO blame the jurors on this one. They - did not even take the time... shame! nm

If the death penalty had not been on the table - Nicole

[ In Reply To ..]
The jury quite possibly would have found her guilty of at least a manslaughter charge if not outright murder. I don't blame them for being timid about putting someone to death without outright evidence. I think the prosecution used the death penalty as a threat in order to induce Casey to tell where Caylee's body was at the very least, but Casey had lied so much already and had had so many chances to tell the truth that she couldn't back down. So then the prosecution couldn't back down, either. In a case where I live a young woman was raped and murdered but the authorities couldn't find her body, though the murderer/rapist was knwon because because there was ample DNA evidence. The prosecution offered to take the death penalty out of the mix if he would tell where this girl's body was so her parents could have some peace, but he wouldn't. Then the snow melted in the spring and they found her body. THEN he wanted to help them out with all the details, but too late for him. He is now deservedly awaiting execution. Everything sucked about this guy, even his timing.

There was more than the death penalty option for Casey - aggravated child abuse or manslaughter

[ In Reply To ..]
The jury had OPTIONS other than death penalty or not guilty. Why isn't that clear to those who want to blame the prosecution? These OPTIONS of either 1st degree or 2nd degree murder, aggravated child abuse and/or aggravated manslaughter were available and explained clearly by the judge. All of the options given to the jury they found Casey Anthony Not Guilty of.

Jury was not supposed to consider the penalty phase - Nicole

[ In Reply To ..]
The trial is to determine the guilt or innocence of the accused on whatever charges the state chooses. The penalty phase is separate from the trial in order to prevent juries from thinking, "I know he/she's guiilty of something, so let's decide they're guilty of this lesser charge and they'll do some time in jail at leastt," while in fact the person really may not be guilty of anything. The trial is to determine guilt or innocence, period. The penalty phase concerns appropriate punishment for the guilty and determined by the jury or judge based on state guidlines in whatever state you're in. Sometimes penalties are mandatory, sometimes not. However, as one of the alternate jurors said about the accusations of sexual molestation against George, once you've heard it, it sticks in your mind. The judge wouldn't let Baes bring up the sexual molestation in closing because it was there was no evidence that it happened, but that alternate juror was still thinking about it. Lawyers are always saying "You can't unring the bell" because once it's been said, people don't forget what they've heard, even if they're told by a judge not to consider it.
Yes, the jurors apparently did not pay attention enough - to the actual rules. How pitiful.nm

The jurors should remain in hiding rather than justify - their poor decision
[ In Reply To ..]
The more they talk, the more they contradict, the more angry people are getting at their mistakes and sloppiness. How do you NOT consider Casey Anthony's behavior when it was entered into evidence. How do you get side-tracked to George when the evidence points to Casey? How do you go through days and days of testimony in 10-11 hours. Jury 11 says it was "quality" time? Casey Anthony is free in a few days and had he researched in his "quality" time he would have found her behavior most definitely should have been considered and conjecture about George was just that without proof, something Baez threw out to distract the jurors, like a shiny object. Jurors fell for it and Casey Anthony is free because they weren't paying attention and did not follow the judge's rules.

It is a shame. I doubt jurors will live this down as the public outcry seems larger and louder than OJ and jurors are more vocal in this case exposing their mistakes while trying to justify their decision.
Agree. And once we hear the jurors and/or Casey - are making millions off this, anger will worsen.
[ In Reply To ..]
This verdict is ridiculous. It reminds me how in closing, the prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick said her biggest fear was that common sense would be lost in all the distractions. That is EXACTLY what happened. The jurors "feel" Casey is guilty, but could not convict? They FEEL she is guilty from the evidence presented, whether circumstantial or hard evidence, its ALL evidence. This case makes me sick.
Casey won't make any money off this case. - Jurors would be fools to try.
[ In Reply To ..]
Unless anonymous, jurors should not expose themselves. As far as Casey, how can she sit down and give an interview? She would have to explain the drowning, who packaged and disposed of the body, and why they didn't call 911. She would get caught up in lies and subject to more lawsuits plus once again malign her father's and brother's name accusing them of incest.

Bring on another juror interview who is willing to further scramble the reason for the verdict. Love watching them look like the lazy and sloppy fools they are.
Just announced on the news that a TV producer is - already offering Casey a million bucks to talk.nm

Could it be jury foreman told other jurors - they couldn't consider Casey's behavior?
[ In Reply To ..]
One idiot leading a group of sequestered people who wanted a quick fix for a verdict so they could go home, could have thought Casey was guilty because of her behavior but as we all know now, juror 11, the foreman and trusted leader, did not believe the behavior of Casey Anthony was something that could be to be considered even though it was entered as evidence and through testimony.

What an jerk. He teaches school too. He should be fired.

Yes but there was no evidence of child abuse, no evidence of murder - LaLaMT

[ In Reply To ..]
just conjecture. No one knows how the child died. The medical examiner said under oath that there was no evidence of traumatic injury to skeletal remains, no broken bones, etc. Thus no evidence of abuse. No one testified that saw Casey be abusive towards Caylee. Nothing! There was no case! The prosecution blew it.
Not reporting a child missing is abuse. - Lying to those searching is abuse.
[ In Reply To ..]
Your child is missing. You want all the resources you can to help search. If you do not report a child missing it is abusive. If you lie to the people who can help find the child and deter their search it is abuse.

Conjecture is acidental drowning based on a picture of a child in a swimming pool or by a patio door. Conjecture is George Anthony or Lee Anthony molested Casey because a psychopathic liar said so.

Reality is Casey Anthony did not report her child missing. (Grandmother Cindy did after 31 days.) Reality is the missing child showed up skeletonized in a plastic bag with duct tape across the mouth and the last person seen with Caylee was her mother/caretaker, who did not report her missing so the body became decomposed.

This is information the jurors had regarding Casey Anthony. Add to that the obvious indifference that the child was missing/dead as testified to by friends who Casey partied with in the days before she was reported missing.

Most killers are not considerate enough to videotape the murder so jurors must put puzzle pieces together based on circumstances which the prosecution presents in order to come to a reasonable conclusion who the killer is.

The jurors in the Casey Anthony case were dimwits waiting for a videotape of the murder and couldn't put 2 + 2 together if their lives depended on it.

I Am Praying For An Early Guilty Verdict For Casey AnthonyJul 05, 2011

REGARDING THE CASEY ANTHONY VERDICTJul 11, 2011
When I heard the verdict, like almost everyone else in the US I was floored.  It made me question the whole trial by jury, the validity of the judicial system and whether or not a person will ever be held accountable for this crime.  In a nutshell, it is sickening and disheartening.  I also wondered why in the world the JUDGE didn't exercise his power to overturn the verdict 'cause if ever there was cause, it was this case. Casey Anthony Case - How Long Before Verdict?Jul 01, 2011
I'm biased because I despise both Baez and Casey Anthony but I say she will be found guilty within 48 hours of deliberation and given life imprisonment.  The defense case didn't even make sense and in the end they put George Anthony on trial - but for no known reason.  How about Cindy lying on the stand?  I am starting to dislike her almost as much as Casey.  Who wants a person who killed a helpless 2-year-old, her granddaughter, to be free? ...

Casey Anthony TrialMay 30, 2011
They did a whole day of going over the trial and testimony on HLN today.  Just wondered if anyone here buys the defense story that the child drowned in the pool but because Casey was sexually abused by her father she showed no emotion and did not report it. Casey Anthony TrialJul 04, 2011
This trial has just been going on too long.  As with so many sensationalized things these days (too much in my opinion) it is just going on and on and on too long, with the hopes that a reasonable doubt is created on the part of the defense.  I  have tried to catch a bit of testimony on a daily basis, though I have not allowed my life to revolve around this case.  I have just wanted to see what evidence each side had and how it was presented and form in my own mind whether or ...

Casey Anthony's HairJun 21, 2011
I think the defense team told Casey to keep the two long pieces of hair, one on either side of her head pinned back.  Remember how she kept pulling at them and fussing with her hair over and over?  Now it's all pulled back.  I think they told her how bad that looked.  Also, she doesn't seem to be moving things around on the table like before.  All the news stations were having a field day talking about her behavior.  She has very odd behavior and some of h ...

I haven't seen her do this so much lately and wondered if defense team looked at overall blog feedback and coached her out of it.  I have noticed now that she is either "crying" (more blowing her nose than crying) or looking very angry. I am hoping someone coaches her out of this too. She just becomes more and more hateful to me.  That angry face shows how she was ...

Casey Anthony . . Good Mother?Jun 02, 2011
When I heard the testimony of Lee's girlfriend about what a wonderful, caring mother Casey was to Caylee it made me sick.  Would a good mother put sex and partying before her child?  When I see her constantly primping in the courtoom, fixing her collar dozens of times and fooling with her hair it is clear she is totally about herself.   It is as if she is saying, "Look at me."  Seems to me when you are on trial for murder with a possible death sentence there wo ...

Casey Anthony Trial SurveyJun 06, 2011
Following this trial and listening to commentary there is very little doubt it seems that Casey Anthony murdered her child and disposed of the body. I think a lot of the bias is because she is a pathologic liar.  Aside from the lying can anyone take a leap and think she may not be guilty of murder or that the state is not proving it beyond a reasonable doubt? Does anyone believe she was molested by her father/brother which caused her psychopathic lying? I heard Geraldo Rivera comment ...
