Question for those watching the Casey Anthony case ..... (sm)

If you were in George and Cindy Anthony's position and your child used the defense that she was sexually abused by her father (assuming that this is far from the truth and a story that I personally do not believe), could you ever forgive your child? If I were Cindy Anthony and I knew with all of my heart that these accusations were not true, I do not think that I would ever be able to speak to my child again. What say you?

I read that Casey wanted to give the baby up for adoption, but Cindy talked her into keeping it, so then Caylee became the victim/weapon in the mother-daughter emotional blackmail wars. Until the trial started I always thought that Casey had murdered Caylee, but when I heard Casey's attorney say that almost the first words out of George Anthony's mouth upon finding Caylee's body were, "Your mother will never forgive you," it made me wonder if the death had been accidental (no, I don't think George Anthony was at all involved). But maybe Casey didn't supervise the little girl and she drowned accidnetally. I think Cindy Anthony is a very cold, inflexible person who when she decided to throw her support to Casey made it impossible for Casey to own up to the truth. Casey Anthony is an amoral mess, but her mother helped make her that way.

So what? She is a grown woman and is responsible for her actions - regardless of her past.

Unbelievable to me how everyone lends the ear for a sob story.

I don't care WHAT your past is -- it's NO EXCUSE for murdering your child or any other horrific or even just poor behavior.

We can't use the abuse excuse, even if that witch was abused. You can go on ahead and feel sorry for her for when she was little, but geez, she an adult. And geez, if the abuse excuse were always allowed, the jails would be empty. Probably 80% of those people were abused as kids, too. Feel sorry for the kid in them, not the grownup they are now.

Keep in mind, there are also plenty of people who were horribly abused as kids who DON'T murder.

I don't have any kids, so hard for me to say whether I would speak to my kid again. I would say no I wouldn't, but then again I don't have kids.

I've been following this case since it began in the news in 2008 searching for that cute little girl.

Personally, I feel that she is guilty in the death of her daughter, be it an accident or premeditated. She has been lying and lying and lying the whole time to police, parents, etc., etc.

So, supposedly if Caylee drowned in that pool, then why did she have duct tape on her mouth? You only "duct tape" people to keep them quiet right?

As far as George, I, again, personally, do not believe the sexual abuse story. I believe it to be yet another LIE by Casey to excuse her from what happened.

I believe that if Casey's parents or brother were not alive that she would be going about her business as usual. She never called the police, Cindy did. She said she was conducting her "own investigation."

unless that swimming pool was filled with chloroform, she did not drown there and it was not an accident. George did not do it. Cindy did not do it. Casey did it, and as her parents, they are trying to keep her from the death penalty with George taking the fall. What a thing to do to your own dad, not to mention the baby. The woman is wicked, pure through.

and there is a name for this disorder, anxiety related. I agree with above posters, George was NOT involved. I believe the "accident" was because of something she did to keep Caylee quiet or to put her to sleep (chloroform?) not sure. Of course she couldn't report an "accident" because it would be obvious that she did something she was not supposed to do. I believe the "staging" with duct tape was done in case the body was found and it would look like a kidnapper had done that. I could be wrong about this, but I just have a hard time believing she was duct taped while alive. Another theory I have might support this, though. The night of June 15 when she was confronted by her Mom for stealing money from grandpa, it was reported by Lee (her brother) that they had a physical altercation and Mom put her hands around Casey's neck. Casey then left with Caylee. I suppose she could have taken her rage at her Mom out on her daughter and possibly did duct tape because baby was terrified and would not stop crying.

I'd be so done with her. I'd mount a case against her in civil court and do all I could to show her for the lying, selfish, brat murderess she is.

Cases like hers make me sorry that we don't have public hangings any longer.

I have followed this case since this child first went missing. Honestly I could not have been a juror as I feel that this girl is guilty, have for a very long time. The fake nanny, fake friends, fake job, fake trips to the beach, child missing for goodness knows how long and the mom is out partying and having a good time, how could she do it? I'm biased because I despise both Baez and Casey Anthony but I say she will be found guilty within 48 hours of deliberation and given life imprisonment. The defense case didn't even make sense and in the end they put George Anthony on trial - but for no known reason. How about Cindy lying on the stand? I am starting to dislike her almost as much as Casey. Who wants a person who killed a helpless 2-year-old, her granddaughter, to be free? ...

They did a whole day of going over the trial and testimony on HLN today. Just wondered if anyone here buys the defense story that the child drowned in the pool but because Casey was sexually abused by her father she showed no emotion and did not report it. When I heard the verdict, like almost everyone else in the US I was floored. It made me question the whole trial by jury, the validity of the judicial system and whether or not a person will ever be held accountable for this crime. This trial has just been going on too long. As with so many sensationalized things these days (too much in my opinion) it is just going on and on and on too long, with the hopes that a reasonable doubt is created on the part of the defense. Following this trial and listening to commentary there is very little doubt it seems that Casey Anthony murdered her child and disposed of the body. I think a lot of the bias is because she is a pathologic liar. Aside from the lying can anyone take a leap and think she may not be guilty of murder or that the state is not proving it beyond a reasonable doubt? Do you all think that 12 people who got to together to sit in on this case could all be idiots? I think maybe they didn't deliberate and came to a rash decision based on the fact they had been sequestered for so long and wanted to get home. Is it just me or does it seem like the Anthony's had a LOT of pets who died and were buried in the backyard? I think it will all depend on closing arguments and if all Jose Baez has is the drowning accident that was never testified to, the molestation that was never testified to, and stopped cold with no premedidation theory by computer searches that weren't done by Cindy, she may get the death penalty. What is funny to me is when the jurors try to justify their decision, they end up hanging themselves with their lack of knowledge of the case and the rules of the case.
